As much as i hate to admit it

Jasons idea that people would fight over resources actually worked, after all food water and oil ran out in a few towns we gathered like soldiers and tried to invade another town
This didn't work, BUT it was a good start, made for a very fun time.

Now please remove the rift, you got what you wanted

Very smooth brain move.

If we kill the other family for supplies we'll live! Up until the server reset your own power move causes which then kills you.

Someday in the far future, aliens will be reading these archived forums.  They will undoubtedly confuse them for factual records about the near future when America's second civil war breaks out immediately after Trump's impeachment.  Starvation and mass killings of gingers indeed.

Well the last family survives apocalypse and gets a head start since all other family's start with just one female

So stealing the last resources and start a yum chain is a smart move (imo)

I half agree here, about the surviving family having a better shot to make it in the next arc.

But it made me think..

What if the map didn't cull a 20 by 20 tile zone around the last female birth location before reset.

It would give more of an incentive for that last family to try and survive. Starting an arc with even a tiny piece of the past would be a pretty big reward.. even if it was just some crops and half a sheep pen.

That doesn't work because everyone suicides out of the old families to start new families. Even with a heads up on females with the start of the new arc after two hours the "winning" family was dead. Without looking at logs of each arc I would assume almost every surviving family from the previous arc dies off during the time of the Eve window due to all the people wanting to play Eve vs being in the oldest running lineage.

Arc reset = mass suicide. Mass suicide = dead lineage.

So by stealing/killing/whatever you prolong your own lineage for an hour or two before falling victim to all the spawning Eves who will siphon babies away from your lineage during the open Eve window.

Ending the arc is easy. Learning to work together to prolong the inevitable is hard.

So what you're saying is... the -real- challenge is ending the arc and persisting the family past the eve window since it's something never been done before.

You fail to consider that the other family (The first) were hunting us down, considering I was the last fertile left if I didn't kill people to establish a new mont home we were gone, surprise surprise after I died arc reset very quickly.

Re: As much as i hate to admit it

Yeah the end condition is contradictory to game mechanics (war), you're expected to go at war with another family for their oil, iron, water or wathever but in the back of your mind you know that by doing this you might end the world hence ending your own family/civilisation too.

It's a known issue, the problem is having another end condition like number of deaths per minute or something like that would mean that there could be an arc with only one family which would make all family relative content inexistant (languages, war, peace etc)

At this point i think there should either be new Eves spawning when family drop bellow 2-3 or having the whole system changed to go from a lineage dynamic to something like war, peace, language between groups/communities.

I do not agree, I have lived several lives at the end of the last arc and the only thing I have seen are murderous relatives (nothing out of the ordinary in OHOL) and many people starving because there was no more water to water the berries and they were not even able to go out and look for some wild berries for their own survival
I have also seen many people doing Halloween masks and many players circling without doing anything
I have not seen battles or wars ...
people are very lazy

I don't think that after several arcs with a multitude of players forcing the restart of the rift and trying to kill the women of their families, now the family's survival is desperately sought ... I'm sorry, but I don't think so

also think about it, if these players could use a bow, a knife or a sword, they were players who had spaces to use these tools ...
Everyone knows that if you are a competent player who tries to do many things to save your family, you run out of skill spaces quickly

possibly it would only be a group of griefers wanting to party

See you might have to look at those logs, cause I think I remember the surviving family making far into the next arc a couple times.

I think both the germans and the bears, and the uno, made it through 2 arcs.. Or at least some families have I'm pretty sure.
