Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

If I understand correctly, these are instructions for people to set up their own server right? It is not just the server hosted by your friend.

Yes you are absolutely right! This is only for those people who want to have its own server to test all the things or want to play in a LAN for example.

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

After the last update I had the problem that the map was completely reset. That has never happened before. Was it because Jason added a new floor? Unfortunately, everything we had created was lost and gone.

I had the same thing but I think it was because of the map culling feature where things you haven't visited within 24 hours get erased when the server is shut off and on again. The official servers don't get restarted very often but if you're like me you have your test/private server on your home computer and only have it running when you are playing. This seems to cause it to be a little too eager to erase things.

Not sure how to adjust or disable this but if anyone else knows I would be happy for the information.

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

you can disable map culling with

mapCellForgottenSeconds.ini = 0

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

after the last update I am not able to join the server. the server says "server using version number 1" ... client is 73 .... I tried to update the server again with "sh pull..." but than it said "already up-to-date" .... hmm

any suggestions or help? I am the only one with that problem?

Go to the server directory and create a file called serverCodeVersionNumber.txt and in that file put 73. Then run your server and it should work.

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

hmm I'm having a issue. when I try to join the server it says failed login. tried temp login and different emails. I did what EvilBlackCat said and I'm able to join from the client in virtualbox but it said the client was v72. I set the server version name to 72 and was able to join. it says it's up to date but I can't join from outside of virtualbox and it's way to laggy to run ohol in there.

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

did you have updated the client versions? change "usecustumserver.ini" to "0" (zero) and log into the real life server ... after updating and successful logging in at the real life server, change the "usecostumserver.ini" back to "1" .. after that it has to work. ... (now you have to change the number of the server after updating with "sh ..." to the actual version number, for example 73)

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

Yes i was just playing on the official servers last night. it only lets me join through the client on virtualbox and it says its v 72 which i assume is why i cant join on my regular client. I tried updating it but it says its fully updated. and i did change the version number manually

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

i believe the issue is that it wont update to 73. when i set it to 72 i can join from the virtual box client. I tried updating it but it says its up to date.

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

I don´t understand why you are joining with the client in the virtual box??? die virtual box is used for the server only ....

You said: "I tried updating it but it says its fully updated. and i did change the version number manually" ... if you have a windows client you don´t are able to update it manually .. it works full automatically ... you only have to start the client. You only have to update the server manually. And only there I would change the ini-File for the version number, not at the client! Perhaps that is the problem??

Re: VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed

in order to join with the client in virtualbox i had to set the server to v 72. thats what i think the problem is for me joining with my normal client, the server is not updating to v 73 at least thats my guess.
