The Arc Reset is too quick

Can we not? These arcs are becoming less and less memorable because they keep getting even shorter. Our village wasn't even able to use our diesal pump. Do something but the arcs are getting shorter and shorter and if your whole point on making the rift was so that things weren't forgotten and culled, a bit hypocritical don't you think?

I dont understand this graph, did the kelderman had 50 population then just died out suddenly?

Is there a graph with lines instead, one line for each family with the actual number of people for each line, would be less confusing

The graph shows the total population (y-axis) at any given time (x-axis). So out of 50 players at 19:00, a small fraction were Keldermans. 3-5 perhaps?

If I'm reading it correctly, the left hand axis shows total server population.   The colors indicate how much of the server belongs to each family.   So the Kelderman didn't have 50 players in their family, they had maybe ten or so at their most populous.   You can see how babies distribute across all families, because as the total server population dips lower, the numbers tend to dip lower in all families.    Not surprisingly, these low points also tend to coincide with the death of family lines, since they also represent potential choke-points where the continuation of the family was dependent on only a few players.   

For example, you can see that the Lola family lost a large number of people a little after 9/19 20:00 and the server population also dropped down below fifty around that time.  They did not recover and the family was lost.    Around the same time, the Keldermans also suffered heavy losses but they managed to keep going for a while longer, before eventually dying off about an hour later.    The fate of Fry and Halcom are interesting, because they don't appear to have died out during a significant server population drop off.  And they both died out within a very short time of each other.    Looking at their population graphs, it makes me wonder if they didn't kill each other off in a war.   Both families were losing population rapidly while Gomez and Carrow were gaining people.   

I have to agree, although it looks pretty cool, it is hard to read this graph since the way that it is displayed makes it harder to track the trajectory of individual families.   I think I'd rather see the population of each family displayed on the left axis, rather than adding them together to form a composite of the entire server, so we could more clearly see when the families start to lose ground.

Ah ok i see, so the carrow and gomez family where almost on par at some point just before the carrow dipped for some reason while the total population didn't have a significant drop

It seems weird though if the carrow dropped and total population stayed about the same why does the gomez family didn't peak?

Where did the dead carrow's go?

Or they did peak but the graph just doesn't show it as a peak?

Yeah the graph looks cool but it's pretty unintuitive and harder to read.

Flip the graph upside down to see the peak at the end of the arc.    The Carrows slowly died off and the Gomez family absorbed their losses.

The other graph is easy to make.  I'll make it in a bit.

But this is a pretty standard graph format for population makeup.  AOE2 showed this kind of graph at the end of each match:

The AOE graph is fraction of total population (fraction of 100%, whatever that is at a given moment).  I made that graph too, but I found that it contained less information.  The version that I posted above, where you can also see the actual total, is much more informative.

Actually, the first graph posted above had incorrect labels.

And both graphs had repeated colors.  Here's a redo of both graphs using colors that were picked by some train map project as being distinguishable:

So the end was bewteen carrow and lola and not carrow and gomez?

It's crazy that lola went from almost 30 to 0 in 1 hour.

What happened?

Some really bad RNG or something else?

The Lola Family had to defend themselves against Triplets on Horses, the Keldermans were slaughtered by either their own kind or members of the Gomez family, the Hammers died out due to lack of females and the line of the Gomez was ended by the hands of a Lola.

Two families were now left: Carrow and Lola, racing against each other to survive long enough to see the end of the Arc Century. But civil war broke out in the town of the Lolas, leading to a massacre and the death of the family name.

A skilled Carrow Smith was working with his nephews and nieces at the forge, trying to get the engine filled with kerosene and getting the water pump going. The moment he had the tank of kerosene in his hands, smiling with his family members next to him, a distant bell rang, announcing the end of another Arc.

Congratulations Carrow Family for making it to the end of this century! You battled all odds and managed to come out as the strongest family of this Arc. Who will be the next victories clan? Will we ever be able to build huge cities again, with nurseries, schools, kitchen and gardens? Or will this be a constant challenge for each family to end the next Arc faster than the one before?
We shall see what the following years will bring us. We write the year 341, Arc 5, and the Eve Window is still open. We wish all the families the best of luck and happy Eveing everyone!

So it looks like a bad "civil war" may have brought an end to the family as a direct result of internal strife and too many murders.
