By special biomes I’m referring to the biomes that mostly involves endgame (desert, tundra and jungle). I feel like nowadays with the new maps they are way too rare. Even when I’m scouting the badlands in search of these biomes I still sometimes end walking for 15+ before I find a desert for example(at least one of proper size, you find small useless patches plenty of times). This makes getting rubber even more frustrating since you need both a desert and a jungle with the stuff you want.
I enjoy the new map in the sense that it gives us more of the biomes needed for early survival making pretty much every spot viable, but the downside is that looking for endgame resources becomes a real chore.
For the time being, I think we have enough content.

I think that is sort of intentional. Jason wants to create enforced scarcity so we run out of high-tech tree resources, like iron and oil. The easiest way to achieve this is to limit the number of wild sources.
Also, keep in mind that If you are at the point in the game where you really need upper level stuff, your village should probably already own a horse cart (or two). With a horse, you can reach anywhere in the rift in just a few minutes. If you only have regular carts, prioritize getting a horse, before you go for rubber. It will save you a bunch of time and reduce the danger of traveling long distances. There's no way it will take you fifteen minutes to find a jungle on a horse. Also, you can plant rubber trees now, which is a smart idea if the nearest jungle is quite far off.

Getting horse early is very helpful, tho if you can't find a desert you won't find a horse either

While I've had this frustration with the map, and have actually said out loud "there's no damn deserts anywhere!" I think they're actually pretty well balanced. That instance of me saying that was true for that spot of the map, but once I moved further south, it wasn't as bad at all.

I'm flying high. But the worst is never first, and there's a person that'll set you straight. Cancelling the force within my brain. For flying high. The simulator has been disengaged.

I like the current biome distribution. There's still enough of these special biomes to provide the resources you need, and going on an adventure to find them is kind of fun.
