Will this arc last forever?

Two families left, both have multiple towns. Seems like none of them will ever die.
Well, oil could end one day but it won't happen any soon. I think apocalypse should happen when only two families left.

Edit: Or maybe it was because of PAX and longer eve window because of that? Families had more time to develop. Idk, I kinda want apocalypse

Re: Will this arc last forever?

Why not just go start the actual apocalypse?      Last I checked, it was still possible and has the exact same effect as an arc failure.

I think the fail condition is fine as it is.   The map is still quite playable and there are enough resources.    Despite repeated attempts by both families to wipe each other out in useless wars, we are still surviving just fine.  Plenty of stuff to do in the various towns.  Some towns are more advanced, some more primitive.  The map is still quite livable and the main towns are doing fine.   You can even go out and start a new town, if the existing towns fail to meet your standards.   The main issue facing a new settlement is a lack of ground iron to help bootstrap your early development, but if your town has access to a mining pick, you can kick-start a new settlement using one can of kerosene.

If Jason moved the fail condition up to three families, it would just mean that the game fails the arc BEFORE it reaches a real failure state.   That hardly seems fair.

The apocalypse should've already happened a couple times, something is broken right now. https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=7803

Maybe if they go to war, it'll make the arc more interesting

The Reeds and the Germans were at war for days.

It wasn't an improvement.
