Cremation?

Bone fields are less of a problem now, and some graves are kinda cool with the new dates, but as a thought:

Grave + Firebrand = Burning Bones
Burning Bones + <some amount of time> = Ashes of <name>, died <number> years ago

No fresh graves. Fresh graves have too much water/blood/fluid to burn.
This way graves which aren't really interesting or just getting in the way can be burned. Also, the ashes could be stuck in a bowl or pot or urn or something.

Re: Cremation?

Actually, how about some fuel being needed to burn them first? Like kindling or firewood, or charcoal.

Re: Cremation?

Yeah, that makes sense. Probably firewood. Thanks Angel!

Re: Cremation?

While I like the idea in theory you run into the problem of people purposely tossing dead peoples ashes in bowls to grief them and it seems really disrespectful to be dumping ashes out or washing them out.

Re: Cremation?

I see, Tarr... However, please note we're otherwise just leaving their unburied bones in Pile O' Generic Bones to rot.

We could have a dump transition that just puts the ashes back on the ground. Maybe use the ashes in other recipes. But if burning needs other fuel sources then we can't just wash it out, because the water, fuel, grave and all dissapear.
Or allow trees to be grown with people's ash as fertilizer, and the person who donated their body to the tree gets their name on it (may be a cool way to preserve Eve or bottleneck females?)

Re: Cremation?

Being afraid to do something, anything, because someone might ruin it later, is a surefire way to lose the game.
That moment you accept that as an excuse not to do one thing, it'll spread like a plague until you are convincing yourself the game is literally unplayable with other human beings. Then you'll find yourself alone playing Oxygen Not Included, Factorio or Craft the World, wishing you could enjoy them with someone else, wondering where things went wrong.

Well, I'll tell you right now, it's there.

This game would have been just fine if all those million hours would have been played by entirely different people

You could take 100 hours of any 10,000 people's lives, (or 10 of 100,000, or 1,000 of any 1,000's), and similar conclusions would have arisen. I wasn't anymore needed than anyone else, but that said, I'm thankful for every hour I've gotten to spend, with every one of you.

Here is to a million more hours, a million more lives...

5,548,404 lives lived for a total of 996,138 hours
429,258 people lived past age fifty-five

Damn, 5.5 million lives!? Ya'll need to stop dyin so much!

Anyway, here, is to the future.
To everyone's future, to ever know a single life, or more, here, in

One Hour
One Life

(But seriously, imagine if this game was only popular with the young girls the way Barbie Dolls were 50 years ago. A million hours of little girls playing dolls, dress up and house? What a different game this would have been.
Just imagine when some girl first accidentally double clicked a bear cave...)

Re: Cremation?

I love this idea. But as presented is ready to fail, must be presented as a problem and not as a suggestion.

Problem: there are too many bone piles around town and too many graves.

- I believe the term "Berrymuncher" is derogatory and therefore I shall use the term "Berrier" instead.
