Is it laggy?

First, I want to say this game is amazing.  I love it a ton.

I'm just curious if the server gets laggy as it fills up.  When I first started playing a few hours ago, everything was running super smooth.  Then the last hour everything was moving really slow, people popping around a bit.  I thought it happened after I died and was reborn, so I thought maybe it was one of the servers and not another.

Thanks!

Re: Is it laggy?

I'm not sure!  I don't know what the true capacity of the sever is.  I did some stress testing with bots and set it at 200/server, but that might be too many.

Lag can also happen due to network issue on your end, of course.

You can check the populations here:

I think the peak was 61 or something like that, so maybe it was too many for one server?  People need to let me know.

Re: Is it laggy?

I know it was laggy for me and my friend said it was for him as well.  I also saw at least one review that said it was laggy.  Looks like optimization time for you!  =-D

Re: Is it laggy?

I got some instances when it was laggy (taking several attempts to pick up an object, the character does several back and forth before managing to pick it up). I even died once because I could not pickup food. I suspect server load is the culprit as I never had this issue during the test on sparsely populated servers with the same connection.

Hell yes it is. I can't count how many times I've died yesterday after buying the game, to walk up to an object that it accidentally thought I clicked on, and repeatedly "half picked up/used" over and over and over for 30 seconds and then I'd go from full food, to 3 food near death. Any time it happened as a child, of course, I'd just be dead.

Re: Is it laggy?

Noticing some big lag when trying to pick stuff up and put it down. Happening at time of this post, according to the page:
http://onehouronelife.com/reflector/ser … ion=report

says 70 - 75 people on.

Re: Is it laggy?

Server one has 70 people on at the moment - the lag is worse than I've ever seen and the game is barely playable if even.

All interactions are currently taking up to 6x as long as they should - so things like metalworking are just not feasible.

Player clients are de-syncing, you try to pick something up but it was actually moved long ago and the map suddenly updates with all items on the floor switching places - I have asked other players and everyone seems to be having this issue.

I'm not sure what the server specs are, but I don't think we've ever even gotten up to server 5 - but the other servers are still suffering greatly from overload.

Re: Is it laggy?

Until some server optimizations are made, it might be worth capping the population of each server to 50, 40, or 30.  I'm not sure where the cut off is for smooth play.

Re: Is it laggy?

I'm seeing lag too, especially when accidentally clicking on trees. I can't tell you how many times I've died because of it. I seem to generate more lag when I hold my mouse down at the edge of the screen instead of clicking to move.

Re: Is it laggy?

Ditto, my mom disappeared (flew out of screen) and I got stuck trying to pick up a berry 30 seconds later.  But somehow my mom kept feeding me and kept me alive until i eventually died at age 3 having been stuck trying to get a berry for a year.

Re: Is it laggy?

I came here to report some problems as well, I some actions are duplicated (eating berries is especially noticeable) and once I teleported off the edge of the map. Server is currently at 65.

Legends have been told, that when you hear the tune of the lag, you dance forever.
