that's bullshit property fences arn't bad that's like saying having your own house is bad in the real world. we should all just live in common housing right. communism and shit?? no fuck that if someone is making a property fence leave them be get over it. unless they are stealing tools and not giving them back to town then sure get mad but if not it doesn't fucking concern or effect you. let people make their own shit if they want. no one said you needed to help town to play. sometime s people want to make their own stuff and pass it down to their children the anti property people have the biggest sticks stuck up their ass its annoying. Mind your business if it doesn't effect you what do you care.
p.s. sorry for the attitude im a bit triggered today. I cant read or see anything in game and its irritating that i cant fix it to keep playing.

@GoodGrief your name sounds like you are a griefer

why do people kill you, whats the reasons?

Property fences are kind of a pain, but I wouldn't mind them so much if people could just build them out of the way of the things I need to get to. Like in the town outskirts where there also happens not to be a whole lot of important resources.
Also if sharing is caring then not sharing is being uncaring. I get if you are protecting a delicate work area which could lose efficiency if tampered with, but if somebody appears to be hoarding just for the sake of hoarding it's Just... Stop. Get some help.

They'll probably kill you for making fences if you persist despite people breaking it, if you hoard items, if you use it to kill off players, or if you block of vital tech such as wells or oil pumpjacks.
If you want a proper plot, make it further away from town and only borrow tools, or make your own cheap ones (E.g stone hoes)

its good grief you know like charlie brown... when someone griefs me i say good grief....
in detail, i've only spent the last couple of days making property fences because i hate living in huge towns... usually ill /DIE or, if im a female, ill leave town and start an eve camp. but with the new update I feel like i cant afford to /DIE anymore... So if im born a male in a huge town ill start to make a property fence and just build a cool looking garden or what ever for an hour... yes i'm using tools from the town but I only horde stuff that i've made/collected.... I've only ever finished one property and never lived to old age while trying to build one... because it always ends the same way...
With some dumb kid standing outside saying let me in or else.... Then i get shot with a bow.... or a kid waiting for me to leave to grab more stuff and i get stabbed.... or they just destroy my fence before its permanent over and over again until i quit out of frustration...
IDK i feel like the bottom line is I'm not to thrilled with the new update because it forces me to live lives i would otherwise abandon....
edit:
I'm always on the outskirts of town out of the way

You're not forced to live a life. There's just a price for every /DIE, meaning you don't spam them and break the mothers' hearts. You can still use them to escape a shitty town though, just not 12 times in a row

I would avoid building property fences. There are many people who hate them and will actively resist if you try to build them anywhere nearby, since there are many bad things that can be done with property fences. If you wait to see what someone is doing with their property fence it will be too late to stop them, since the completed fence keeps you from getting to them. It's not the same, but sort of similar to trying to start the apocalypse. Some people will support you, but a lot of people will kill you on general principle for messing around with it.
Don't do it unless you are willing to accept the consequences.
If your goal is simply to be left alone, property fences draw attention to your work so people are more likely to mess with you. So skip the fence and just work on your garden or other project in peace. Most people won't care unless you do something actively suspicious, like if it looks like you are robbing the town of important resources or hoarding tools. Then one of the town "protectors" might preemptively kill you. Building a property fence around the project just makes it look worse if someone starts wondering what you are doing with that cart full of tools.

I´ve seen several property fence locked areas, I think you are just playing them right in the nose of everyone. Walk a little far from town and make your place close to a corner spring. Don´t hoard stuff, make a klin and oven and show everyone that you made all the stuff you have (if I see you with a cart full of pies and no oven for sure I´m gonna be pissed off).
- I believe the term "Berrymuncher" is derogatory and therefore I shall use the term "Berrier" instead.
