The birth of the 100th generation heralds a new era...

So this is a wacky idea. What if the first child born in generation 100 of a family had a special ... glow. Like they are the holy host or something. And this 100th child can make some unique, item like a new crown or robe or something that no one else can make.

Another more tame idea: What if when a family makes certain generational milestones they ALL get new abilities. For example after gen 20 you can kill bears with only two arrows.  After gen 50 you can write text in a different color. After gen 75 you can make some item like books.

You need to last longer if you want to unlock certain non-essential but interesting tech and features.

Eve's get to pick a name and that's about half the cause of all the people wanting to do it.

maybe you can't do marriage until gen 25...

In a way instead of "leveling up" your character you'd "level up" your whole lineage by lasting long enough.

Isn't that kinda OP? LOL.
Seriously, I would do anything to just arabic numerals instead of spelling everything since some people mis-read VI and IV

So basically tying tech levels to generations. Its fun that it ensures someone always have something to do but two issues

The tech tree is not vertical enough to sustain this. I heard a bunch of good players can reach diesel pumps by generation 6!!! . So if one were to say allow engines only by 25th generation the early game will fall flat faster.

Second issue is, what if you are born 'behind'? Often in born and realize my nephew/niece is already in their teens. So they would have done up whatever tech that has opened u for them, leaving me with nothing.

It's an interesting thought though

I don't think that any tech essential for survival should be treated this way for just this reason. I mean it's fun to go fast. These should be bonuses:
-getting more iron from mines
-kiln stays hotter longer
-can make colors of dye for clothing that no one else can make

Bonuses.
