That you could NEVER curse people who aren't in your family?
I had forgotten about that.... I was just going into the code now to implement that, but I found it implemented already.
I noticed it myself earlier today when I migrated to a bell town and they killed me. Dave Queen... tried to curse him, but it didn't work, and I thought I had spelled his name wrong or something.
But it's been that way in the server code all along.
So you could always grief other villages, I guess... they were just too far apart before for that ever to be a factor.

Did curse tokens get used but not go towards someones account or what? I've definitely been cursed outside of my family before the update and I definitely traded people stuff to use their curse tokens on others.
Are you sure you're not just misreading something or did it require players to be in the same family at one point or another to allow the curses to go through?
Are you also sure this isn't related to the server hiccup bugs that cause uncursable lineages?
