Re: Hands up for taking off flies

I think they shouldn't stop us from holding/touching things (at least instantly) so we can avoid dying super fast and undress ourselves. The idea of disease spreading bugs is really cool though and I'd vote to just tweak them rather than remove them.

It is but i mean it takes so much time till u get better and most of the time you just die i say he should make a cure just like how he did a cure for everything else like snake bites and etc

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

Keep the skeeters, but make it possible to survive if you have on clothing and get in a cold biome fast and then eat right away. The game has to have some annoying things. I just hate waiting to die when I know there is nothing I can do about it.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

Why can't you people just learn to avoid them?

The game isn't supposed to be easy... following the logic in this thread we should remove wolves and bears because if they touch you, in 80% of time you die too (just like with the skeeters).
I think it's really cool feature - small but deadly motherfuckers, hard to spot. They are the price you pay for rubber and bananas.

Why don't we just remove all the deadly animals, hunger and old age deaths? ThEy aR AnnOYinG!!1

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

I just think waiting to die when fully dressed is a big drag. Let me use /die after I get bitten and I'd be happy.

Mosquitos are fine. They are not supposed to be useful to you. Just a wilderness danger to keep you on your toes.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

Restricting the pest to the jungle finally removed any real reason to be afraid of them. If you go into the jungle you should know what you're getting into.

Mosquitoes are still the #1 killer on the planet.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

If there was a way to kill the bugs I wouldn't mind them as much. The current method of making a pen for the mosquitoes looks pretty dumb. If there are bugs in your base there should be some way to get rid of them like every other dangerous animal in the game.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

I would love it if we could kill them, and get tiny little skeeter pelts... to make in to shoes or something.

Or really just kill them, it could be a chemistry thing, mix and boil a bunch of stuff and get a spray that will kill one group of them, even if it took a ton of work to make it'd be worth it and make towns near jungles last longer.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

No. Skeeters are literally the only mechanic in the game that makes a player depended on the kindness of their tribe. If anything we need more mechanics that force us to care for one another.

Nerf them a bit, fine. Something like citronella candles - but don't get rid of them entirely.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

I havent been bitten by mosquitos in weeks and I do travel through jungles on rare occasions, they're not that hard to deal with if you dont run blindly through jungles and make sure to yum chain if you know you might head into one

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

I think flies need to be murdurable, the recipe for bug spray should be rather advanced, but as long as there's a way it would make jungle towns potentially doable.

Re: Hands up for taking off flies

Honestly, I think skeeters are fine. Even though I use Awbz, I don't get bitten by them often. Because I know how to avoid them.

-Don't go into jungles.

-Stand on an item while you gorge on all the bananas.

-If you do get bit, go outside the jungle. Even better if you go to some tundra. I've survived yellow fever more than enough to know that it's possible.

-Don't go behind trees. There's probably mosquitos there.

Yes, I think mosquitos should be able to be killed. It's kinda silly to have to trap them, while the rest of the dangerous animals are killable.
