*Make wood shavings with flint not knife so earlier camps can write
*Make paper decay to "old paper" in 2 hours, then it can be burned
*Make "old paper" vanish after 6 hours
*add an item called "the book" that makes paper last forever.
*Books last forever, maybe even should last after apocalypse.
*Books can be dyed using the normal dyes
*Books stack ... up to 3 (bookshelf...? mmm yes...)
Right now paper is made after gen 5 mostly, and is hard to organize. I want to make paper making easier. So, what if you don't need a knife but can use flint to get wood shavings? That would lead to more writing... which could be bad because paper is clutter. So, at the same time introduce paper decay rules. In addition there would be a new item, the book, that could make paper last forever.
I've been bouncing this idea around for a bit, but after making paper today and wondering what a town history would be like...
=Making a Book:=
*put a rabbit skin in a bowl of water and get a "wet rabbit skin"
*scrape with a flint chip and get "rawhide"
*sew with a needle and thread and get a "book binding"
*put a paper(old or normal) with writing in the book and it becomes page 1, add as many as you like in the order you want them or take them out of the "binding with pages"
*whatever is on page 1 will be the title of the book
*when the book is done sew again with a needle and thread and no more pages can be added. Now you have a "book"
=Reading a Book:=
Pick up the book. The title will be your speech bubble. For example ":Town history and lore by Futurebird" Right click on any tile while holding the book, page turn sound plays, you "read" the next page. To put down: left click where you want to place the book.
Pie in the Sky Additons
*put photos in books (would need a way to look at a photo in-game)
*make books available offline in family tree (would work with photos even if we can't see them in game.)

Why would paper decay to old paper?
Paper is not just used for writing it's used as a filter and other recipes https://onetech.info/1619-Blank-Paper
Would be better if we could mass produce paper in a crock and even use more than short shaft to make wood shavings, since you should be able to get wood shavings from every piece of wood.
Also making wood shaving throwable in fire (or turn into kindling) in case someone turns all the wood into shavings

I was thinking only paper with writing would decay to old paper. Blank paper just stays as it is. The old is to give you a heads up that it's going to vanish and needs to be in a book if it's worth keeping.
