Question About Awbz (Mod)

Hihi! so i've been a little hesitant about posting about a modification to the game since it isn't directly affiliated with JR but since i've seen others post about it i hope this is fine.

Basically i've been really considering getting Awbz' Mod however whenever i download it I get greeted by "this file could be dangerous and might harm your computer", all i ask for is:

Has anybody recently downloaded awbz' mod from github recently and is it currently safe right now?
i get extremely paranoid over downloading any type of unofficial non-steam file, as of previous experiences and the fact that i very stupidly, don't use an antivirus. Can anyone confirm or atleast think that it is safe right now?

Thank you.

Re: Question About Awbz (Mod)

While I'm not a true programmer, scripter, or coder the files look fine to me, and I've never had an issue.

Currently running current version.

My computer says the same thing.  I just pat it on the head and tell it to shush.  It worries too much.

Re: Question About Awbz (Mod)

It's safe, I got the warning too and ignored it.  Your computer is just warning you that you're downloading something not from a "known" publisher, which is usually bad if it's not a mod or indie software or something.  This is a mod xD.  Maybe it's being extra paranoid because this is a mod for a multiplayer game so it's doing network connections.  I'm sure theoretically awbz could do some nasty stuff if he wanted like send your email and OHOL key unencrypted to a separate site and steal it big_smile  That's just the risk you run with mods.

Likes sword based eve names.  Claymore, blades, sword.  Never understimate the blades!

Re: Question About Awbz (Mod)

Not an expert on this but basically the dev of AWBZ mod would have to spend several hundred dollars to get the certificate that makes that warning go away and since this is not a commercial product he is not gonna do that. It's safe to download.

Re: Question About Awbz (Mod)

I've downloaded Awbz mod and five thousand other people have as well. That's just a default windows message cause windows doesn't know what it is.

The mod makes the game far better. I would highly recommend.
