Are these things still a thing anymore?

As you may know, I've been away for a while. And I have seen how much things have changed, almost none of the people I used to be good friends with on here are left for example. So, to get caught up in what's been happening I would like to know if a few things are still common practice in the game.

Are these things still a thing -

• Religion wars
• Aurora style marriages (or marriages in general)
• Saying "in the bush"
• Dictators
• The slave market
• The drug trade
• Cults
• Sacrifices of babies
• Brother lovin'

Re: Are these things still a thing anymore?

Religion wars & Cults - Never was a part of a religion in ohol, just cults. Cult wars aren't very common now tho.
I think the major cult now is goose cult but I hate it. hope forever. Oh also ppl were making some kind of altar with three adobe walls but I dunno if it's a cult thing.

Marriages - Yes yes yes. to me they're still a big part of roleplaying. Not many people do it lately. Maybe because now there are no city eve's and everyone is related hah

Dictators - I kill them.

Drug trade & Slave market - About a week ago I roleplayed as a mafia boss, I sold mushrooms to women in trade for their next child. Was fun but when I killed a guy for murdering two random people for stupid reasons, some other guy started chasin me just because im from the mafia! Come on guys mafia can be good too :( I told my kids he was a cop and to avoid him.

Sacrifices of babies - I do it only for nosaj and only if the baby is ok with it. It's still done pretty often, but maybe I just have good luck with finding crazy mothers.

"brother lovin'" - I dont know what you mean but I don't really see anyone other than my mom/kids as related to me. Sometimes I marry my cousins, also when I choose someone to marry I do it regardless of their ingame gender lol. Roleplaying gay characters is fun

You seem like my kind of person. We are gonna have a lot of fun together. And by fun I mean role playing as gay slaveowning brothers who are married and also in a cult.

Re: Are these things still a thing anymore?

Marriages are very much a thing. Incest happens now way more often than before.

Rohrerianity and the cult of the Eternal Goose are two major religions right now, with many branches and sects and also satanists or nosajists worshiping the nosaj. I think the goose cult is actually a branch of the three pillar cult but I am no expert. The banana was worshiped until it got nerfed. Bear and carrot cults have died out entirely. Here is an example of a rohrerian church (courtesy of bENdl from Discord)

I've never heard someone say "in the bush"... what does it mean?

Living in the bush means “being born in a town but having to live in the wilderness because you are wanted or starving”

Babies or old people are often sacrificed for the Apocalypse towers.

In one life, my brother asked me if I'd like to f***.
I answered, "always", while making a pained expression.
Then we went back to our projects and saved the town.
I died to Old Age at my brother's milkweed farm as I waited for him to come back from the jungle.

The 3 Pillars is it's own thing.  It was started by Twisted (Honey Bunny Games) as seen in some of his OHOL youtube videos.

I started playing with the Steam release and I have no idea what most of those things are. If they exist at all they must be quite rare, and I for one am glad of that. I don't begrudge anyone having fun their own way, but I have yet to be anything but annoyed by anyone's roleplaying beyond the simple pleasantries of staying in character ("I love you mom" etc), so by and large if people want to roleplay I prefer they do it in ways that don't affect me and in places where I am not.

In my experience, what I see of roleplaying inevitably leads to murder. And while I'm basically okay if a bunch of non-productive people want to kill each other, it's almost never consensual; someone uses "roleplaying" as a spur or excuse to go kill whoever is around them whether they wanted to be involved in their little drama or not.

For a variety of reasons, there are fewer highly-advanced towns now than there were in the early days of OHOL, and as a consequence, most settlements you will be born into are in precarious situations, where if there aren't at least a few players who know what they're doing born into each generation the town will crash and die. That means that there's a lot fewer situations where significant numbers of people can just roleplay and screw around rather than be productive.

There's always plenty of non-productive people around, of course, but my hope is that they'll be engaged by the gameplay and attempt to learn the game mechanics rather than sit around in a glorified chat room.

Sacrifices of babies, well the babies sacrifices them selfs now. no need to do anything, they die in your arms or just run off into something that would kill them fast.

Religion wars: I think I've seen a church. also seen someone worshiping a goose
Dictators: I have seen a lot of people walking around with a crown telling people what to do. someone usually gets murdered and war begins.
Drugs: if anything i've seen more shrooms since jason added the thing where you "never died"
Cults: I was in a village that was a strict vegan cult. anyone who killed an animal or made something with meat died.

Swan cult.
I had a life where people where trying to take over from goose cult, they would all gather round and kill the geese at the same three stumps. At least until my brother killed most of them. I'd like to see the Swan cult reborn

Are these things still a thing -

• Religion wars
• Aurora style marriages (or marriages in general)
• Saying "in the bush"
• Dictators
• The slave market
• The drug trade
• Cults
• Sacrifices of babies
• Brother lovin'

• No religion wars that I know of
• I've had several marriages, and I had my last official marriage a few weeks ago; Since then I've had "bae"s, and have been a father, but not really many official marriages. But I'm sure I could start doing marriages again.
• "In the bush" was never a thing
• Not sure about dictators. They'd prolly be killed, but you do get the occasional person saying "I RULE YOU", and there are some queens and kings that take their position seriously and call others peasants still.
• I've never heard of the slave market
• I hope the drug trade is still on. I set up an official system with a girl about a month ago, where she would give me baskets of shrooms and I'd give her items of clothing in return. Once I carried around carts of shrooms, dealed them out and called myself "The Mushroom Man" (I was a woman, but it was a "The Muffin Man" reference)
• Not really many cults around. We should start doing that again.
• Baby sacrificing might be only me, but I like to play a game called "snake dropsy" when I go far away from a snake with "space" pressed and then run towards it and drop my baby onto it.
• Brother lovin' I'm not sure about, but I once told pickup lines to every single one of my sisters. I ended up in a relationship with one of them, I made up a poem for them but they died before I could read it to them

Overall, we need more love. And more RP. And a whole lot more incest.

I'm guilty of killing my husband (egged on by my daughter) because he "slept around". I'm pretty sure he didn't care though.

Ah yes, religion. That is still a thing, but it's died down a bit. The peak for me was witnessing the fight between the Milky Way and the Goose Cult.

Other than that, I saw an Egglord one day in the East town of this city complex (Long before even casino town). Many weeks later, I see him again and get to become an heir.
