I love the jungles. Lived to old age, dodged all the bugs while trying to find iron. I never got sick. No mods. Just paying attention.
There's not enough iron though! Not enough iron is ruining the game!

I have yet to die of yellow fever unintentionally. Maybe add different kind of snakes in a jungle to balance it a bit so it is higher risk but if you kill them you get a really good food source.

The question we should all be asking is:
do we want jungles to be a biome where it's possible to settle or just a place to challenge old playrs and with nice loot?
If we want the former mosquitoes don't need to be buffed but bananas should be rarer. If we want the later it's better to make mosquitoes deadlier.
I'd particularly prefer if you could set quickly there early game for food, heat, raising babies but could not safely do so until late game (maybe after yellow fever vaccine or ways to kill mosquitoes). For that, if I was Jason, i'd make fever much hotter and bananas slightly rarer.

I think it's clever how the tiny mosquitoes force users to play without a zoom mod.
A vaccine system would be cool though... so we could have more types of disease in the future.
The bananas are so needed for new player survival at the moment. Thank you for that!

YELLOW FEVER EPIDEMIC!
Holy crap- this has to be fixed. I have played since the dawn of the game- and I got sick 7 times. And eventually died of it.
I had to leave town for a skewer- and thus my deadly adventure into the jungle. Not to mention the whole village has 2 people sick every 30 seconds because those bugs will hide behind trees easily.
Honestly there's too damn many bugs- no way to kill them. This isn't a good representation of indigenous life in the Jungle (at-least pre-2018). People don't get sick 7 times before the age of 12. It also massively limits resource gathering outside of town.
If you're set on keeping bugs- atleast give us bug-catchers and a way to make us immune to yellow fever.
Another option is to stop all the blood shed-- and make the bugs instead eat any domestic plants planted on the biome. Please nerf bananas first.

Yellow Fever isn't very dangerous, it's just a slight annoyance. As long as your food bar is decently full when you get stung you'll be fine, even as a child.

Yellow Fever isn't very dangerous, it's just a slight annoyance. As long as your food bar is decently full when you get stung you'll be fine, even as a child.
Let me see if i can find it, but i had a game where literally my whole family died to it.
Let's be clear... don't base yourself on 1 game where YOU managed to avoid it. Judge it by how the average player deals with it when living for a long time in the jungle...

But the thing is yellow fever isn't dangerous if you know exactly what you're doing. It's the same principle as why people get mauled by bears in the middle of a city, if you don't know how to counter a bear you end up dying like a goof ball.
If infected with yellow fever - Go stand on an object just like you would with any other animal trying to attack. You just stand on the item and wait out the fever then return to whatever you were just doing before the bite. Once you know how to deal with yellow fever you'll realize that it's incredibly weak.
Neither the food drain nor the fever raise your temp to any sort of dangerous levels while in the jungle. It's more comparable to being naked in the middle of any of the normal biomes which isn't harsh at all. The only time you should die of yellow fever is if you kept your food bars super low which is just silly since there's so much food in the jungle.
Once players learn how to deal with yellow fever the deaths will become rarer as you shouldn't be dying to it in the first place.

Eh I think people are underrating the severity of yellow fever. I had to give up on starting a wheat farm last night after travelling for several minutes to find seeds and then getting a fever on the way back. I had to wait out the fever to pick my basket back up and by the time I got to town the seeds had despawned (I think wheat farming in general is way too punishing but that's another topic).
In another game I just straight up died from yellow fever while my food was fine. Not sure what causes that.
Jungles seem alright to me. Bananas are available as emergency food but you might end up in more trouble than they're worth.
My biggest problem with jungles is that they're fucking EVERYWHERE and that makes it harder to find resources that were already hard to find before version 170. Need to find ponds? Miles of jungle in the way. Need to find seeds? Miles of jungle in the way. Trying to find depleted resources is my main complaint with the game in general. Why do I have to spend 10 years looking for a damn sapling to make a skewer, why can't I just pluck a twig off a tree or something?

That just means you got double tapped (aka bit twice) in your 25 second fever window. Any more bites past the first will make the fever lethal with extra bites shortening your death timer even further.
In your first example you did exactly what you have to. Just chill out for twenty five seconds and then you're good to go again and do whatever you were doing. Once players realize that's all you got to do then they'll stop dying to yellow fever and realize it's not actually that dangerous.
The whole wheat thing is kind of annoying when people chop down all the wild wheat that I can agree about.

Can we expect most players a day after its been introduced to avoid it? No. Can we expect most players after a week or so especially after being told to do what Tarr is saying, just stand on something and wait for 25 seconds? Yes. People die to boars and snakes because you accidentally got hit and thats it, you are dead unless someone nearby has a bandage. If you accidently get hit by a mosquito you can easily wait it out safely without another players intervention.
I would like to see Fever danger go up and banana safety go down. I have never felt more at ease with survival since we started seeing these trees around. Not only is just straight living in the jungle easy, if you have a good spot similar to before, few ponds, some dirt, some warm AND some nearby banana trees you are WAY too set. My only gripe is that one jungle tile in a mix of another biome spawning a mosquito you aren't expecting to be there, but then again grassland snakes do add a certain, oh shit I do need to be paying attention at all times, which isn't always bad.

People can be taught to stand on items when they have yellow fever just like they were taught to stand on items when a bear is lured to town.
With enough people teaching how to avoid death by yellow fever and time people will eventually learn to stop dying to it all together until Jason decides to buff the illness.

IMO the problem with jungle is that all the trees are productive, so bananas and rubber are trivial. If jungle had more filler trees and the productive trees were thus rarer it'd be balanced.

Yeah I'd have to agree, the real yellow fever isn't coming from the mosquitos its coming from the trees, as Tarr showed, 20+ trees in a single shot of a biome is maddening. Imagine seeing almost thirty wild berry bushes in a shot like that - you can only imagine it because that just doesn't really happen. Add that to the fact that they give so many pips right now, and you can start preparing the padded room and take my measurements for a comfy straight jacket.

That would make the jungle extremly dangerous but at the same time full of ressources (food), which would make it a high risk high reward place to go, much more interesting than nerfing it to the ground

Yellow fever in its current state is perfect for dropping babies onto it mosquitoes when you're facing overpopulation - their food bar is so small that they can't even run back into camp t convince someone to feed them in time.

3. Make banana tree fruit cycle like cactus ,so no food is stored forever on tree.
4. Add more plants (even usless ones that need to be cut down) so jungle is not so empty. Maybe vines(rope) or other early game resources.
