Quality of life improvment ideas

Ok I'll start.
- Storage for seeds, like a seed bag. Currently it is like the nr 1 villain of taking space in a town.
                                                                                       CVHm3mJ.jpg
- Ability to stack more common things, like rabbit meat, restack muttons, branches, wheat container, sharp stones, restack flint chips, flat rocks, skewers, clay, (planks, steel blade blanks for rails).
Combining things might ease up the work on the server, tracking less objects maybe?

- Lower the cost of some things, maybe rails since it requires alot when making a long track. Or maybe it is supposed to be used for shorter distances? I dno yet.

- Make some cheap fence-like item to replace the endless trashholes used for pens. It looks so weird. I love pens that use fences but since trashholes are free everyone does that me included. Also would be nice to have the fence gate open and close for humans automatically, but with an option to open it for everything. I designed the original fence opening for humans but I would prefer an actual thing to do that instead, since it is complicated to explain the current gate-meta.

- Anything to make organizing a base easier, since it pretty much always ends up as a dump filled with random things in every tile. Like combining things.

- Rework the sign/letter system, me personally don't think it's fun to make letters but the result is always fun and helpful. Simplify it or make it cheaper maybe.

- More things like the iron mine, but for materials for roads / buildings. That would be one thing alot of people can work together for, when normally people run around randomly alone for most tasks. (It's not bad, but it's fun with teamwork tasks as well)

- Slightly larger vision, it is so common that I run straight into a wild animal and die, my reaction time to spot things when moving isn't great sad

- Ways to dispose bones, like familygraves for multiple bones or burn it to ash maybe.

- Ability to make cheap / free paths, use something to mark a path to function like roads while moving at normal speed. Would be nice to have players share roads and might result in more shared areas and not just "The town" that everyone sticks to forever.

Just some ideas, I think it isn't too unbalanced, some might be. Keep it up Jason!

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

the ability to empty bowls of stuff that can be also on the ground, just as you can do with carrots and limestone.
Nothing more frustrating to have a bowl of charcoal ready for the iron, and someone put the iron in another bowl and no other piece of iron or charcoal are available to fill either of them.
i get that you can't put down flour, dough or a bowl of berries, but unprocessed stuff should be able to go back on the ground :
-rabbits
-charcoal
-corn
-iron
-raw pork
anything of the like

I will be eve tana. If not an eve, my kids will be called numerically : Primo, Duo, Tertio, Quattro, Quintus, Sextus, Septimus, Octavius etc... ending with an -a if you're a girl.

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

Stone fences and a fence gate that only players can pass would be a good start. Would make for much more attractive towns.

Way to store grains, I always end up with tons of thrashed wheat everywhere when making compost. It stays that way until bakers use it up. Should be able to build some kind of grain silo.

The ability to make a sheep carrier. We have this one

https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.htm … YgEALw_wcB

It works super well you just put it behind the sheep feed them. Then flip em on their back.

When you do it they give you this look like "why you do dat!" Then they just lay there paralyzed like a cat in cloths

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

In regards to the seeds and the pouch, it'd be useful if items had more than 3 sizes.

At the moment I think the sizes are 0, 1 and 2.

If there were 4, 5, 6 or more sizes they could be;
<1 cm³ Smaller than a marble.
1 cm³ — <10 cm³  Marble sized.
10 cm³ — <100 cm³ Ping pong ball.
100 cm³ — <1000 cm³ Baseball sized.
1000 cm³ — <10,000 cm³ Basketball sized.
10,000 cm³ — <100,000 cm³ PC case or 24 inch CRT TV sized.
100,000 cm³ — <1,000,000 cm³ Night stand, washing machine or refrigerator.
1,000,000 cm³ or greater. A wall or anything that takes up a full square meter on the ground.

Guess that is 8 sizes.

More than just the 3 would be nice though, for storing items in various containers.

We just need places for more stuff.

I've thought about dirt roads before, but I haven't been able to figure out a recipe for it. The best and simplest way (it has to be simple, since it's a dirt road/path) to do it that I could think of was: sharp stone + floor stakes = dirt path
But that would remove the stakes (since it's an already existent recipe), so I'm not sure. Maybe using a stone hoe?

I like the pouch recipe big_smile

I remembered, when using tongs on a pile of iron you don't pick up any, I guess it will be fixed some time.

Idea: Drag a rock along the ground to make a path, use a shovel or a tool to remove unwanted paths.

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

Idea for fences: Iron wires connected to posts. Then you could connect two points that are a couple of tiles apart.

The production could use wheels and some kind of setup with water to galvanize it.

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

Fences, maybe it would structurally make sense to have every other tile use a fence kit and the one inbetween only use a long straight branch. Since the fence kit is connected to the ground, and then just add a long straight branch to connect between them. Example:

Instead of

that great idea, but i feel it should be the lasso, not the rope...
we need more uses for the lasso, like bringing back lost sheep and cows

Fences...

Tricky to implement within the discreet tile system, but a very nice idea.
A way to prevent fences becoming fence posts is also needed before fences are practical.

Maybe replace hand + fence = shaft + fence posts with...

Axe + fence = Axe + cut fence
hand + cut fence = straight shaft + fence poles
tied shaft + cut fence = gate

Re: Quality of life improvment ideas

Cooking raw rabbits and geese in adobe oven.

There are no needles, or maybe no file. So, you make a small fire beside a pile of raw rabbits. You go find a skewer while it burns down. While you are away, fire was turned into long slow fire, or hot coals were rekindled, or a flat rock or stew pot was thrown on it. Now you have to make another fire and stand guard a whole minute with skewered rabbit in hand.

Yes, something to make a simple dirt path would be lovely! And a rake for removing it... or spreading gravel to make it a bit better.

Question, can flat-stone-roads be dug up? Because I see a lot of roads to iron mines which are quickly emptied and then there's a useless road and no more flat rocks.

+1 that lassos need to be more useful on all large animals (horses, sheep, pigs, cows, dogs) and rope for smaller ones (lambs, piglets, calfs, puppies)
