Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

First of all, saltwater ponds move.  They have for as long as I have been playing, so I always assumed this was normal.  However, I am beginning to think that there is some sort of glitch.

In the Pharo city, there is a stretch of road that seems to have attracted a ton of ponds.  The ponds have all conglomerated along the road in the middle of a grey biome (so the snow biome isn't actually that close).  It interrupts the road speed, and it seems to be getting worse over time (i.e., more and more ponds are collecting around the road as time passes).

I don't know why it would be doing this, but it seems strange that the ponds are just collecting there.  It's also strange that the ponds move around to begin with.  It's extra strange that they don't stay in snow biomes.

Is this a glitch?

I think the ponds actually get up and walk around as if they're a penguin, then turn back into a pond again. Not sure if that's the root cause, but that's my best guess.

Thought this was just me. I’m 90% sure this is a glitch that needs to be fixed. Surprised no one had mentioned it before this.

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

I'm sure everyone knew about the moving ice ponds but I have zero idea why they've seemed to clutter on that road. I really doubt it was some kind of rng for that many ice ponds to move that far east together in a large group.

A shame you can't actually guide penguins or you might be able to "kick" the ponds away from the road.

fug it’s Tarr.

There’s upwards of forty ponds on that road...

I brought it up last week:
https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … 825#p27825

"An ice hole was moving around like it was a seal. It would make the splash noise every once in a while, like it had escaped into itself, but the ice hole was still there. I saw this glitch on two separate lives."

Definitely a glitch that needs fixing!

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

I've seen that road, I was wondering how and why someone would build under ice ponds.

Saw an Ice Pond move as an abandoned baby one time. They move and then turn back to normal, It's like Ice Ponds have been secretly alive the entire time.

THEY GONNA KILL US

It's like they start walking around and get stuck auto-running on the roads.

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

I helped build part of the road I believe you're talking about, and it definitely wasn't like that during my two lifetimes in that city.

Here's a spliced-together screenshot of it, or at least one instance of this occurring. I count at least 35 ponds that weren't anywhere near the place when it was built. Pretty sure there's more off-screen.

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

This has always been a thing... i remember a few old towns before the apocalypse update having feilds on ice holes by them...

Ive seen it happen first hand when i poke a penguin, and it slides into an icehole that isnt there. Making a new one that can sometimes move for a second or two after, before becoming a permanent feature.

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

So griefers can literally spam ice holes by poking penguins? That sounds like a nightmare! I bet those types of grievers would be considered "pokequins" instead.

Re: Moving Ponds + Attraction to Roads?

Ok so what they are supposed to do is freeze over (disappear) and move (while invisible) to another place in tundra to open up again (so they wouldn't be static and block things as you can't drain them or remove them?). I've only seen an ice pond appear in tundra, I was slightly freaked out at first but I had heard they are supposed to change places. I've never poked penguins nor seen anyone poke penguins so that may explain why I haven't seen moving ponds around me yet.
