Daughter, I remember when you were born.
That early Friday morning at around 9:45 AM EST.
Your face was glowing with that innocence all children carry.
But little did you know, that we were poor.
Little did you know, I was an Eve.
Destined to fail.
Destined to die.
Your innocence kept me going for a short period of time, but it wasn't enough.
I told you about my destiny and I suggested we run off and die together.
At least we wouldn't be alone.
"Death by wolf?"
"Death by wolf"
We both died that early morning, but we did not die alone.
No, we died together.
We died in harmony and in vain.
And as we died, I looked at you.
In your eyes, so full of pain.
In your heart, so full of dread.
In your mind, so full of betrayal, yet understanding.
I looked at your face and it no longer had that innocent glow.
For you, my daughter, had come to see what this world has to offer.
You learned at a too early age about how you are not welcome in a world meant for the strong, the rich, the beautiful, and the charming.
And so I say again,
"Death by wolf?"
"Death by wolf."
- me
