The uptick in sales continues today, with today shaping up to be the biggest sales day in the past two months.
I can't figure out where it is coming from.
I sent out an email question to recent buyers, and most of them just said "youtube." Some said that they saw videos about the game in their recommended-viewing list, so maybe the game has finally passed some threshold in YouTube's recommender algorithm? Maybe it's suddenly showing up in the sidebar.
Sometimes this is tied to a foreign source in a different language, but there's also no uptick from any particular country.
I'm also wondering if there's some video that mentions the game, but doesn't use the game name in its title. Then that video wouldn't be showing up in searches.
Anyone have any leads on this?

No idea, but it's definitely noticeable in game. I got lots of babies saying they were new today, which wasn't easy to manage. This is good news though!

I took a couple month break n came back recently. I've certainly been finding a lot of newer players since coming back
If at birth you've been taken to a nice warm spot by the desert and asked if you were experienced and if not what you've wanted to learn it coulda been me.
Been trying to do it every birth I'm not flat out busy or bout to starve on.
Investing time in the new guys can be a frustrating juggling experience sometimes, but it's the best way to grow the community.

Low activity on twitch.
Couldn't find any news update besides the that the game has been added to some website called giant bomb.
I posted a post on steams don't starve together forum for shameless advertisement, hop in and bump that post yo: https://steamcommunity.com/app/322330/d … 674587519/

just checked that steam post
"Your characters lives a full life in 60 hours, from a baby born from another player to old age, if you don't get eaten by a wolf of dies from starvation before that."
might want to edit the 60 hour part
how do I bump it?

Dunno if anyone else does this but I added the game to my steam list so it shows up to my friends when I'm playing. Had a few friends ask about it.

I know I bought the game 3 weeks ago because I saw a youtuber I follow had played it and the title seemed interesting, watched that then I ended up watching a ton more videos from several other people and after that I decided to buy the game.
It's possible some of the new folks have a similar origin story.
You'll see me often as Eve Mcabee and Eve Laurent. Or at least I'll try to be! These days it's hard spawning in as Eve, I usually end up as a baby in some town instead!

I have been sharing out a bunch of videos and links. I hope it helped but i have no way of tracking the outbound links.

Sharing via what site?

Yep, schools out for the summer and the kids have their parents money to spend on the game. That's why there is also a surplus of greifers and murderers. Makes sence now

We have started to do some marketing for our mobile version, and we always make sure to recommend people to try out the original game.
One thing we’ve done is to dig up contact emails for writers/editors of sites covering mobile games and to send them our press release. It has had at least some effect:

I personally also found it through Youtube, sometime last month. It popped up in my recommendations and was there for a good while before I finally clicked out of curiosity. As someone who enjoys survival games, I thought it looked interesting and had a unique concept, so I got it.
Might be related to the fact that I watch a few Minecraft youtubers regularly, and it's a [vaguely similar] survival game as well? Idk, never looked deep into how Youtube algorithms work for recommended videos
-Has ascended to better games-

Yes, I have seen some of those articles about the mobile port. But they were many weeks ago.
I'm seeing a large spike in sales over the past three days, peaking today, for no reason that I can figure out.

Until it’s actually going down again, let’s hope it’s not peaking at all.
What numbers are we talking about? According to the data you have shared before, it’s been coming in waves before too, right?

I think youtube is a big part of where people see it. I got a video by Paragonhex in my suggestions and when I saw his video of the game I was sold. But also HoneyBunnyGames on youtube makes some great videos I think more and more people see.

Honeybeargames I'm guessing.
My 8 year old showed me them and asked if that was the game I play and its been on my recommended list before.
