This week's update contains a few little fixes, but the main focus of the update is a new emotion system. The available emotions are currently:
/HAPPY
/SAD
/ANGRY
/MAD
/JOY
/DEVIOUS
/BLUSH
More will be added in the future.
I'm also busily preparing to release One Hour One Life on Steam. The game is in a good place, and I think it's ready for a larger audience. Preparing for Steam is quite a bit of work, especially for a multiplayer game, and I expect this process to take a few weeks. In the mean time, I'll still be putting out weekly updates, but they will be on the smaller side.
After the game launches on Steam, all players will continue playing together on the same servers. The game will continue to be sold off-Steam, and your non-Steam game accounts will keep working as usual. Everyone who bought the game off-Steam will get a free Steam key to unlock the game on Steam---but this is optional.
The only down-side to a Steam release is the division of the game's community. There will be Steam forums, and in my experience, Steam users don't like to leave Steam and join external forums. So discussion about the game will be split into two places.

For the most part, the steam users aren't aware that there are forums anywhere outside of steam and don't go looking for them. A sticky topic in the steam community would alleviate that problem.
For my part, if there are forums outside of steam, I will preferentially go to them. Because for the most part, the people in the forums in the steam communities are at least one of: Toxic, Idiotic, Rude. It's hard to have a discussion about anything that's broken or try to pin bugs without someone coming in, trying to be "helpful" by posting their workaround... and then they get offended when you tell them you're not looking for workarounds, you're trying to pin down where exactly the bug is so it can be reported and fixed. Every so often, someone will go through the oldest of the forum posts they can find and start responding to them, necroing post after post, annoying the hell out of the community. If you post an opinion, be prepared to have someone be offended by the existence of your opinion, and try to start a flame war with you.
The steam community is... well... not a good place, and to be quite honest I'd be glad if the toxic elements of the steam community forum stayed in the steam community forum.
One person can easily destroy what has taken dozens of people to build. And they don't see anything wrong with it. They like to do it even. They fiercely defend their right to destroy. They'll do whatever it takes to get around any measures in place to prevent them from doing so.
What we do when there are no real consequences to our actions makes a rather sad statement about human nature.

I am very glad Jason you are applying changes in good directions. More grief-proof fence and uses of faces are great! Just don't stop here and move further!
But, you forgot about something (or onetech.info reference does not reflect it yet) which still prevents fences from being useful. This fence is still very griefable, as you can open it to release lifestock. And you don't have to be a griefer, this is easy to do by accident! Please, remove this feature from the game, make fence not openable. We will manage it with doors. Just maybe add some fancy fence gate in the future? This will release pein from mastering pens with random items!
In the thread about Eve summoning I suggested sexual reproduction, again. I mentioned there a solution for incesting: ugly faces! Emotions on faces is one big step forward

Hmmmm Add game to steam is good option: more players, more funny and good players and of course I can play now with my friend who only buy game from steam, but thats also means a lot of griefers and toxic players.
Of course I will add game for steam I add game to steam month ago as "configuration" or something like that.

Adobe oven base pens are gonna pop up in most towns since I think they're cheaper and more easy to make early on

I’m nervous about steam players because we’ve had to defend ourselves in the face of griefers in the past. Now that we have donkey town, I feel a little safer. Someone tell me it will be ok. And tell me why steam players will improve the game?
I love all of my children. You are wanted and loved.

No guarantees on the players. But their money will, if it allows Jason to continue paying his bills while improving OHOL.

Honestly, We need less useless updates like this one. You can make a few faces, who cares?
Time would be better spent actually adding new stuff and allowing civilization to advance. At least steam will bring some new players to the game.
