Jason's Work Schedule

After a pretty insane launch week, I'm trying to get my life back on track.  I do have a family (spouse and three kids).  And as you all probably know, I am a one-person team.

SO...

My usual work hours are 8am - 2pm  PST Monday through Friday.  Yes, I only work 6 hours a day, but that is 6 hours of 100% productivity.  I'm not surfing the web during that time or reading Reddit.  I get up at 7am every day, so I really do start working at 8am.

Going forward, I will break up my time as follows:

  • 8am - Noon  (4 hours)  Content creation

  • Noon - 1pm  (1 hour) Programming

  • 1pm - 2pm (1 hour) Community interaction (tech support, forums, email, Discord)

There haven't been too many tech support emails so far, but each one takes quite a bit of time.  Rest assured that I will get to yours as soon as possible, usually within a day or two.

But I will NOT be working on the weekends, at all.  If you need tech support on the weekend, your request will have to wait until Monday.

There are also a lot of smart and friendly people in the forums and on Discord who may be able to help you when I'm not around.

Weekly content updates will be pushed by the end of my work day every Thursday.  You can keep track of what I'm working on in the live-dev-changes channel on Discord.  But keep in mind that those changes aren't live in the game until I push them out.

I've been considering buying the game again for my friends who I can't quite convince to play.

Re: Jason's Work Schedule

Yeah, I don't know who might have complained to you. But nobody (reasonable) is expecting you to drop everything in your life just to make a bugfix/feature happen a day earlier.

And if it's not clear from my writing style, my posts are suggestions, not demands. But I still intend to post whatever comes to mind.

Thanks for your hard work,
--Chris

Re: Jason's Work Schedule

completely understandable !! Thanks for giving us the possibilty to play the game! It is unbelievable great! Take your time! It is your littel baby :-), handle with care is better as destroying it because of trying to solve everyones problems! You are right, I have seen and read that more and more people love and understand the game and are trying to help each other!

Re: Jason's Work Schedule

Is there any way I could help You with game development? I'm a programmer so all I could do is implementing some features, optimizing, bug fixing and such. Maybe a bit with community. I know I can do a fork and make some changes on my own (which I did https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … 054#p3054), but I wanna contribute to the main game and learn something along the way.

Let me know if there is something smile

@Bluh
I think he's independent enough to work by himself.
And he's in America and he is more likely to meet his teammate offline.

Re: Jason's Work Schedule

Don't be patriotic, Jason is just a human, like you and me, its just we plays his game , don't have to praise him like God.
But keep going Jason this game is awesome, its revolutionary and it should be known to the entire gaming society. big_smile

Re: Jason's Work Schedule

what is your policy on extended weekends and government holidays? do you treat them like regular workdays, or like normal weekends? does it depend on what the holiday is celebrating (for example you wouldn't work on a day off for a holiday relating to your religion, but if it was something like a holiday for a religion you don't follow, you would work that day)?
