Re: Wells Still Reset

One of my sources told me that deep wells do reset.  She was no longer sure about shallow wells resetting though.

Why not try it yourself instead of possibly spreading misinformation?

Re: Wells Still Reset

This post does seem to be in error.

The original source tested again and found well reset on a shallow well.

Why play a game just to test for a bug?

Because it's in bad taste to just spout stuff is broken when it takes < 5 minutes to double check if the issue is true or not.

For you on your private server, (that's what you have, right?) I guess.  If I play on Jason's public servers, I have to live to 60, and have an empty shallow well.  I don't have a camp right now.  I don't think I could get up to a bucket and empty the water from a shallow well into a cistern in 46 minutes.  92 minutes does sound feasible though.

Re: Wells Still Reset

Now I'm wondering if her shallow well reset only because a deep well reset in the same location.

Re: Wells Still Reset

Was my fault was making a car on lowpop and *thought* I had emptied out my shallow well towards the end of my life to get more water.  Started next life and came back to one bowl filled well instead of the nine stones.  Then I thought I'd emptied it out again but must not have, so I mentioned it on discord.  Turns out sometimes I think I do things but I don't.

Mea culpa.

Re: Wells Still Reset

Shallow and deep wells both reset, tho I'm not sure how nor why.

You can empty your shallow well and come back next life with only one bowl of water available. It seems (but here it's only supposition based on my observations) it happens when you have more than 5 buckets and/or a cistern with water in it.
When it happens to me, I empty the shallow well, upgrade it to deep well and empty it. Next life it should be reset, as long as my cisterns aren't full because it seems it doesn't reset when I have a lot of water stored nearby.

Before they reset, testo went about digging something he referred to as well tessellation: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=9511  It was one of the most, if not, the most brilliant things anyone has ever done in this game, as it's not easy to understand to understand that system (chopping all the junipers and/or maples in The Rift comes as more easy to figure out in my opinion).  New Eves didn't have iron or so little iron that probably a deep well and beyond was impossible, and forget making more carts or buckets, and more!  Well reset was part of Jason way of making someone doing that again meaningless while refusing to untangle the iron and water systems.  It mostly shows that Jason didn't understand that the problem lay more in that the connection of the two made things less interesting and made it more difficult for players to rebuild from scratch.

Thanks for the information on well reset conditions MrsDuckGirl.  I continue to not understand those, and maybe they even changed with this update.  Jason's code in other places seems to have strange connections (apoclaypse activating tool slots... reincarnation overriding Eve spawning possibility) which need teased out to get understood and become public information.

Re: Wells Still Reset

I would think these strange interactions come down to how Jason often doesn't use functions.
