Played a Lot This Week: Resttling Right, Walking Simulator

Note: most of the links here aren't to the character I played.  I've included links to reference families in almost all cases.

I played a bunch since the recent arc restart.

My first life was as Lovely An, 2nd generation on the arc restart: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7204720  I quickly learned that we had another black family right by us, and my mom seemed new.  I helped a little to start the Fury camp: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7204676 and some Furies made a shovel.  SecretKittyKat streamed there later: https://www.twitch.tv/secretkittykat/video/950878688 I dug up their tule stumps, and figuring Ans still had an iron unlock, I took the shovel away thinking I'd bring it back.  Aires ended up living there late: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7208058  I talked to the Eve who ran there, and, if I understand correctly, he ran right looking for a town, and missed the other camp I'll mention in the next paragraph.

I found a spot with iron veins and a safe swamp, so taking the shovel really wasn't warranted.  When I went to pick all of the iron veins before digging up the natural spring, I discovered the spot had 7 veins total!  As I recall branches weren't great at that spot.  Ans didn't last long, and I didn't grow trees there.  I had a child while there, and decided to stay, instead of going back to Furys.  Family died when their deep well had dried out, but still had some food around, and the family tree suggests death by bears (players wanting a quick exit from the game?) and/or bad luck on children.

I played later, I think twice, at Perons: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7204717  In one life we were a decent way through a newcomen pump.  Some people, or person, on PXchat said that they were already working on an oil rig at Whislers (whose town had the better design in my opinion): http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7176802  So, I figured I'd make an engine for the oil well.  I also got up a fuel injection nozzle.  I think I was male that life, and my family died out shortly after I died (I wasn't last surviving family member, but Hetuw mod had indications that no one fertile was life from what I can tell, it's not exact though, or I don't understand it's indications exactly).   I think the engine and fuel injection nozzle (maybe I rolled some pipes also) ended up getting used though, as someone in PXchat was happy to hear there was an engine around.

I think the next life I got born at Furys.  They had an exhausted deep well.  So, clumsily I add in this case, I made an engine and a pump valve.  I didn't make a vault, and the engine was gone later when I got born as an Aires in generation 6 iirc.  Does generation 6 needing or very soon needing to make an engine or import water from elsewhere outside of the town make any sense?  Why resettle a town without kerosene and an engine?  I managed to get a bunch of kerosene from Whislers first while Mango worked on an engine.  I was trying to help her out, and she felt it was a bit chaotic (might have been the setup, or time of night, or me), and she said it would be better if I finished it, I think.

I also played at Whislers, where probs decided to make an engine.  I was thinking we could use a truck, so probs also made some milk paint, and I finished the truck.  I don't know if anyone else had a truck up by then.

Later on I played with Graces: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7208805  After that I went to Sweetapples: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7209616 as white when Sweetapples were rather young, I think shallow well young.  I helped transfer some things to Sweetapples with someone else.

When the spawning bug update happened, as much as it qualifies as an "update", I ended up 2nd person on the server to some black Eve who found an old town in a white band.  I do think that Eves should run left.  But, resettling after an update makes a certain sort of sense to me.  Also, families ended up pretty vertically aligned after the update.  I ran away with my sister, and we found some spot (after a while... one of my daughters who was Eve Whisler iirc said "we can't do this forever" while running), and started up a camp there.  Changs ended up resettling that place after the black family died out: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7216231

Later, I got born as a female Hards http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7211520, and they were at Graces, and iirc, Hards resettling made some sense.  But, knowing that Sweetapples old town was further west and already looked better designed, I ran away and helped some other family.  Later, when I played I learned that Hards had resettled it.  I was happy and then spent some lives helping out, even if I wasn't Ginger.  One life in particular I recall going for sulfur from blacks, who were Aires at the time.  We did have the paved road on the tundra-badland band border, but man I regretted getting that place kerosene and completing an engine there as Aires!  In contrast, I didn't regret the engine I made as a Fury.  I would have much preferred if blacks had been closer!  *Resource depletion means that gingers will need to keep moving left making new camps when Eves spawn, and resettling right spreads everyone out*.  Wondible also ended up having an over 1k trek in one direction after Changs resettled right of their Eve spawn, I think.  He had a good life, in my opinion, as a male ginger that I saw, but it did seem like the game as a "walking simulator" characterization really fit.

I did end up making a 2nd engine at Hards when they already had one.  The idea was that one engine could be in town to make water while another was out to make oil.  Though, I don't know if that happened, and I kind of think that such was unlikely when I think about it.

I did also play some in Storms: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7213138, who I think luckily were able to easily start from scratch after the update (I'm not saying that everyone should start from scratch after an update, but running right to an old town on purpose I don't think a good idea and don't like... better to scavenge from the old town to the new one, or more purely build from scratch).  They deserved all the kerosene that they got, which I'm not so sure I can say the same for Changs (who resettled) or Roses (who also resettled): http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7212878

I also didn't like Roses town setup.  I guess maybe they had some interesting notes or buildings, but the distance between the relevant crops, the farm, and the kitchen especially and overall town layout I didn't care for.  Sweetapples/Hards I much more liked in that respect.

Resettling I also think might be alright if the town is shallow well, deep well, and possibly even early to mid pump stage.  If the town needs a diesel water pump, families end up spread out, and a sense of rebuilding from scratch I think ends up all too distant.

Re: Played a Lot This Week: Resttling Right, Walking Simulator

I just played again, and had a life as Max Chang: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7216535.  I got a horse and saddled it (no cart as black... often I've just walked horses to places, thinking making the saddle is a little much, and I wouldn't want to make a saddled horse in a black town as female... might chance the one year of not having a child before one can lasso a horse).  I went to Greathouses who I had seen earlier at a new camp further west earlier in the day: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7214943  They had moved back to Sweetapples/Hards.  I asked Eve Whisler if he wanted anything, and he said he was just cooking or something, which is cool and all.

I went to look for tans, and they were like 2.2k left of my birth spot iirc.  I found some dead deep well camp that looked kind of nice, and decided to complete the horsecart there.  Tans, Peaches: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7216148, died out, and I checked a few times to see if certain Eves were in the main area (most weren't) using the leader command, and then canceling it to follow myself.  There were tutorial tan Eves only for a bit.  I had enough food to maintain a yum chain that I chopped some trees and shoveled some on the road path.  Then I went back to gingers and was going to get sand, sulfur, and glasswort.

As I was nearing the desert I saw that there was a new tan family.  So, instead I made it cactus fruits and sulfur.  I found the Eve and her daughter, who was faceless in PXchat.  I dropped the cactus fruits and the bowls of sulfur on the ground.  They were running right.  I didn't use /yoohoo at them, but I tried to move left and come back to them.  They moved right... probably better if I had used /yoohoo.  I didn't like them moving right and didn't have time to make it back to gingers, or probably any other town.  So, I found the tundra furtherst along the road and made sure to die in the tundra, to hopefully make it so that some ginger might find it some day, I guess.

Re: Played a Lot This Week: Resttling Right, Walking Simulator

I also had two Eve runs, one as a black Eve: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7210811 and one as a tan Eve: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=7211317  The tan Eve run was right before the update.  I didn't see Hetuw names on any of the players (though sometimes that doesn't work).  Some white lady came into our camp, perhaps wanting latex, because she talked about a knife and a bucket if I recall, which is why my final words were an order about what to make next.  I started a fire and one of my daughters ended up making kindling to restart the hot coals without using the fire to cook or smith, which I never think is a good sign.  Another one went and hunted rabbits and even handed clothes to me, which I think I handed to one of her sisters.  I picked up on her pattern and quickly ran out to her and found her with thread and needle and four cut rabbit furs, and made a water pouch for bellows.  I found the camp in some other life while traveling with no signs of change after that lineages death.
