Mushroom Gorge

First some prehistory of Mushroom Gorge.  The prehistory of Mushroom Gorge starts with Eve Bear: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … p?id=10280  I call such prehistory, because had Eve Bear stayed in the tundra band during her fertile years, there might not have been a ginger Eve Spoon that day.  Basically, after I had finished the life as Kraut, I took a bio break, came back and played again.  And I was Eve Spoon.

Eve Spoon didn't have children right away.  I think it wasn't until her mid 20s actually.  If I recall correctly, I started in prairie/badlands pretty much to the right of the natural spring.  I made the three primary tools, ran left, saw a spring which looked okay, and found two muddy iron veins on that same ley line.  So, I ran back and started up on things in that spot.

The well site initially had some junipers north of it, and some poplar trees a few tiles to the left of it.  There existed one pond to the right of it, kind of close.  Two berry bushes to the right also.  By the time Eve Spoon had her first child, she wore a sealskin and had another one on the ground.  I also got two more sealskins, and had only 3 children, so myself, and my 3 daughters all had sealskins.  Being able to do that quick and early like that was pretty nice.  The initial kiln was about where the main town oven was later.

For my third daughter I got the new player popup.  I decided to just say 'YOU ARE NEW', and her name was 'NEWANA'.  She lived to 60.  Lovely Spoon, Eve Spoon's first child, if I recall correctly, focused on rabbit hunting, and the early Spoons were no strangers to eating cooked rabbits for sure.  Maybe I would have done better to do a quick oven and some rabbit pies instead of the steel tool approach I took as Eve Spoon.  Unlike her sisters who lived to old age (59 for Lovely is close enough), Cutina Spoon lived to 36.  I don't know why she starved.  At one point I did hear and see the starving emote and went to snag an onion quick, but I know whomever that was (I didn't check which girl it was), she didn't starve then.  Also, I think Cutina was still alive when I died.  As sometimes happens, everyone generation 4 and onwards was Cutina Spoon's descendant.

The next life I played I was a tan (I forget the name).  They started at about the same time the Spoons did.  I took a tomato and a pepper and went to Mushroom Gorge (though it wasn't called that until much later).  The tan village looked more developed at that time than Mushroom Gorge.  Mushroom Gorge didn't have any tomatoes or peppers when I got there.  I had satisfied I think two cravings as Eve Spoon before I had daughters, but had gotten stuck on a banana.  So, as a tan, I got bananas and went around force feeding the Spoons living at the time.  And other jungle stuff.

I liked the stone flooring in the nursery!

There was a bit of a holdup during the pump stage, about the time of the first hour of RainieDash's stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/809970945

I didn't name Mushroom Gorge.  I had one life as a tan Hyun where I had something like +24 mushroom craving.  I ended up making a trek to Mushroom Gorge to take some back to the Hyuns, and also so I could leave some latex and palm kernels at Mushroom Gorge.  I got some shrimps also for the Hyuns also.  Accordingly, when later I saw the waystone that said 'welcome to Mushroom Gorge', I felt it fitting.

Question: Did the full belltower base at Mushroom Gorge in between the kitchen and the sheep pen ever stabilize?  I didn't place it, but when I saw it, I thought it would be cool to have a belltower in that spot.  But also, I find it hard to believe that such a spot would go 10 hours without getting touched by anyone.  I saw also, I think it was on Gibs stream, that there was a yule tree with cardinals right by the kitchen.  I very much liked that!  Unsurprisingly to me though, it got chopped (I once saw a streamer by the name of TangyPangy, a helpful player as I recall, who felt annoyed the cardinal sounds and chopped a yule tree... though maybe the person who chopped it was just a sort soil sport... who knows).

Nice story, also I miss Mario Kart WII that was a fun game. Bird trees really need to be hungry work or even harder to destroy as hours of work can be destroyed in seconds! :W

Open gate now. Need truck to be more efficient!

Re: Mushroom Gorge

I kept taking down the belltower. Things like that and excessive ancient wall constructions are dangerous to put in the middle of town because they're immovable. The only things that should be set in stone in a village is the kitchen and the nursery. Everything else can be moved around those for a more optimal layout, and that's good.

This strikes me as odd.  Last I knew, there's an open tile on each side of that spot, so I don't see how *just* the belltower in the middle of town like that would cause an issue.  The issue would be caused by someone putting immovable structures in the first and third tiles in that row, not by using the center tile for a belltower.

Re: Mushroom Gorge

Mushroom Gorge appears in about 15:00 minutes onward in this video by Twisted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoVrwOF9k-s  For new players, I will point out that it's one example of what an advanced town looked like (though there was a little more to it than what can get seen in Twisted's video, as Twisted missed a trading station).  For any new players reading this, one can learn many things by watching his videos and paying attention to the time when they got posted.  I've played for about 2 years now, and I still learn something sometimes about the game by watching his videos.
