A few players have been worried about gene score as Eve (yes, I know, meme score, but I watch a streamer who has worried about being Eve because of how it might affect her gene score... there might be others). If you're an Eve during a server restart, I think your gene score will go down no matter what you do. Too many babies. But, when possible, whatever that means, there's a limit on having 4 children alive at one time. That includes for Eves.
Before this Eve run my gene score was at 52.11. I did NOT try to find a town, which might have worked out more likely to keep my children alive for longer. Instead I made the three primary tools, ran left looking for a spot, and raised children on the move. My first daughter, I think, had trouble keeping up with me after she could move on her own. I was raising my second daughter and still looking for a spot during this time, and perhaps hastily left her. She died at 6.5 and my gene score went down -.79. I died next at 60 and got .19 for my gene score. The next death was my third daughter. When I had her, I got the new player popup. *She died at 29.6 and I got .02 for my gene score*. The next death was one of my grand daughter at 25.2 and I got .06 for my gene score. Then my second daughter died at 60, for .18 gene score. Another granddaughter died at 60 and I got .17 for my gene score. Another grand-daugther died at 44.1, for .09 gene score. Another granddaughter died at 60 for .17 gene score. I had a great granddaughter die at 60 for .19 gene score.
So, the net on my gene score was (- (+ .19 .02 .06 .18 .17 .09 .17 .19) .79) = (- 1.07 .79) = .28 on my gene score.
Would a fourth child tanked my gene score? I don't know.
I didn't count the /die baby as a child. She should have never have been born. Bad game design.

Testo said this a while back:
I don´t want to play as Eve on BS2, I lose too many points for the gene score and thus toolslots (I don´t really care about the leaderboard).

Brans in the same thread:
I frickin went from 100 to 460 on the gene scoreboard.
Pein in the same thread:
I would not mind spawning as Eve, but I spawned twice in a row as White Eve in the middle of 4 dead towns and had like 6 kids before I could decide what I do.
2 males blocked me out from the only viable town. Also this 2 cases screwed me so much, I went from 60 to 250.
Fug in the same thread:
Playing Eve can be fun but if you even remotely care about meme score
DestinyCall in the same thread:
I find it equal parts funny and sad that this game "rewards" players who have managed to maintain a high gene score by "letting" them be an Eve (and trashing their score in the process.)
It basically punishes you for caring about your genes by forcing you to be Eve if your score gets too high.
Some of those individuals might not have cared about gene score themselves, but they appear aware that some do. Some of them might not play again, but some people might still have such concerns.

My birth point was: (-127430,6). My death point was (-128080,13). So, I ran about 650 tiles left. I hadn't found a spring with two mines on the adjacent ley line before that.
Also, as one of my daughters (or granddaughter?) put it to one of her children "WE ARE STARTING WITH NOTHING HERE".
