Has the following ever happened?
By 'one hour' I mean exactly one hour of play time.
By 'one life', I mean exactly one game.
If you read about the game significantly or watched Twitch videos before playing, sorry, your first game I'm uncertain is sufficient to say 'yes' to this question. You had to have heard about the game or seen the game for only a little bit before playing it. As I would think as obvious, you used the default client.
Has anyone actually gotten one hours worth of play experience in one life?
If no one has, has the game ever been able to deliver on what a simple interpretation of "One Hour One Life" promises?

just wonder how a parallel universe would look like where Spoonwood used some of his time learning programming and made all the changes he wants to make. Or maybe spending time on advertising something like 2hol would be enough? Think they have fathers or?

Pein said to me a bit ago that 2HOL had fathers a while back who birthed babies in the same way that OHOL moms do. They don't have it anymore.
2HOL doesn't have cravings, but also doesn't have generational food decline. Yum can get broken. Nature has rare edible grapes, naturally regenerating berry bushes at one berry every 10 minutes, and apples, oranges, and lemons on trees which can run out without getting planted. Other foods included pork pies, bacon, honey, beef, and beer. Rabbits do not require bait.
Modding 2HOL to test how well food cravings work with your idea elsewhere Arcurus would probably be interesting and informative.
If cravings would work for early towns, we could replace the generational food need (which is quite unlogic and unintuitive) and by default start with lower raw food values, especially berries. As cravings then evole naturally these basic stuff would be less worth which forces to evolve.

To answer your question. Yes, people have played exactly once and felt like they've got their money's worth. This game really is an experience.

liked also my first life, especially my mon was great! Sadly i long time did not play anything at all before, so i was a super duper mega noob who made everything wrong. Was so funny, i really tried my best....
Ok till the rows, but no you need to till two times...
And no, you cannot water with the bucket...
And now get some wheat seeds, but where?
But was nice, the carrot farmer did not give up on me to teach, until i forgot to eat and starved to death...
Who ever it was, thank you for your patience with me, even if i could not figure out the basics

Why not try it out on an separate OHOL server instead?
I guess the changes that needs to be done to fix the cravings arnt that big to make thx @Jason for implementing them.
With 2HOL i have not much clue, only little bit what is written here or from Twisted videos.
For sure I like some changes like lakes and the bridges and that berries come back after some time, but up to know i dont like the hole feeling there. It seems even less challenge there, I wanted to have more challenge.
I remember the life when tons of kids popped out left and right in one of the last noobocalypse while you are always close to starve to death during you try to avoid the bears a griefer brought... what a fun!
I just wish OHOL would have more challenges then just starving and griefers...
Yea if i ever happen to make a server, i guess i would implement fathers quite on the top 10 of the list... (during your life time you may or may not know who is your father, most likely you will find out after your death).
Would be a hardcore, but fair server with for sure some limited world Dodge always is advocating for and no family but heavy to transport iron.

by the way, here a suggestion about implementing fathers which i was thinking of:
A women except Eve can only get a child when a fertile man is near (exceptions proof the rule).
If a child is born one close fertile men is chosen as father.
The kid is only visible to him as father if he is the only person that is in range at that point. (fathers with less kids are chosen first, then according to yum same for female).
Score would function same for mother and father.
If a kid is born he has a 50% change to take the skin and the family of the father (grandparents of the father).
If fertile male signals /love and female responds with signaling /love he is the father if a kid is born in the next 5 minutes (at least if he was the last).
By the way, i would love to see how it would feel like if we replace the Eve with a NPC wolf mother feeding their children like in the Roman fertiles...
By the way, why do i say that much by the way? Is my neural network stuck? Please VOG fix it!

That wasn't my question. My question is more like: has anyone lived one in-game life throughout an entire one hour, in their first life, without using anything that could get regarded as "cheating", using only tools that the default client provides or suggests before playing?
Has anyone played exactly one hour in only one life?
If so, about when was this, and what was the game like?

Because of more food types in 2HOL than in OHOL. I mean, doesn't your idea to work need more food types than what OHOL has?

nope.
It would be nice to have, but nope it does not need.
Dont know how Jason now exactly implemented cravings, but in short they are a semi random list starting with the foods that need less steps to craft.
One food can be more often on the list. You can crave berry, rabbit and then berry again.
The main thing which would need to be fixed is mushrooms, garlic, and biome locked food (all can be postponed to some later generations).
With this an early eve town would not be locked for long time on one craving.
Dont know how it is implemented in detail, but each generation could be set to reach max craving steps on the list. If they reach it, the list could be start from beginning or even better a new list could be made.
So with each generation they would crave more complicated / exotic stuff. While in the beginning it would cycle the basic stuff.
The hunted stuff i generally would give more bites i think they are currently undervalued.
Also generally i would advance the craving boni each 10 minutes plus one and give the craving from small on (maybe without limited food yum boni for babies).
The children would inherit the craving of the mother minus four, so you even have more opportunity cost.
