You are not logged in.
So you can ride your horse through a bad biome, but if you hit a snake you're stuck there forever since you can't get off the horse in a bad biome.

Oh, you couldn't get off of it. That's obviously a bug.

It happened to me several times.
Sometimes after some time it is not known why getting off the horse becomes possible.
So you have to try (until you die).
