How about an actual in-game chat box?

How about an actual in-game chat box? I know this game tries to imitate reality but it's just a game, good quality gameplay is more important I think.
We could see all family members' messages in the chat box, no matter how far they are. We could scroll through chat box, but messages would dissapear after 3 minutes. We could also see in chat box people's age (for example. "Anna Troller (4): hi").

I feel like interaction system is broken in current state. No pros waste their time to talk with people, there is no time for this. No chance to talk about tactics to survive, everyone plays on its own. In real life family would meet up everyday, there would be plenty of time to discuss things.

This would be a big change to the game. For me it would be so much more satisfying to play this game if we could actually interact with family members on bigger scale.

What do you think about this, people?

Re: How about an actual in-game chat box?

Even if there was a chatbox what would you talk about?

That's the major issue

It's a game about cooperating to create a civilization but you dont actually need to cooperate or interact with anyone.

I could get born wait a few minutes and go make my own town at age 4 without having to talk to anybody and be able to achieve a great and thriving civilization.

So even with a chat box it would probably get spammed by Roleplay stuff, slurs or unneeded conversation.

That's the sorts of issues that are trying to get solved with the current updates.

Pros dont waste their time to talk because there is no gameplay reason to do it.

Currently it's actually counterproductive to talk, since it's all the time you're wasting not crafting.

But if you needed to communicate as an inherant part of the game then everybody would talk even pros, especially pros since it would increase chances of survival.

I do agree though that there is some communication issues with unbalance on how fast the food drain is and different food values, which can make communication complicated in some situation, but if there is no real reason to communicate it doesn't really matter.

Re: How about an actual in-game chat box?

I would ask people to help me making an engine, or help in making stone walls. I would tell them that I saved a rope to upgrade the well and ask them to not touch it. I would make newcomen pump from nearest natural spring and I would tell people about that anyone who wants to learn about wells can join me. I would tell them that eating berries is inefficient. I would answer to very frequent question that new people ask "how can I help?", it's not so obvious in this game, mostly for vanilla users. Right now they ask about it one person, who actually may not know it either. Teaching, learning and cooperation would improve drastically.
How do you find it useless?

These are all things you can do all by yourself, you specifically want to talk about it but most players dont see a point in it, because well there is no actual point to it, sure there is some useful information that can be shared like directions and some lecons about efficiency that can be thought.

But does the person you are talking to cares about this necessarly?

And if she doesn't, why?

She should care right since communication should be needed.

If there was a chatbox you would talk about berry being an inneficient source of food and maybe 2 people would find it interesting and 8 others would tell you to shut up.

But if you absolutely needed that information in order to survive then the 10 people would listen to you like it meant life or death, which it would.

I don't enjoy doing all things by myself. Doing things together is much more enjoyable.

Btw, there should be also a button to enable/disable chatting in box, so we could still talk with near people without sending messages in chat box whenever we need/want to.
