Goodbye

alrthough i have had fun along the way this place is just not for me, I made some grat friends and had alot of fun, i lived as a carrotfarmer, a shephers, a smith, a nomad, a trappper and much much more. i met so amny interesting people and did so many things, i lived through the carrot meta, the first apocalypse, the jungles, Casino town, the steampocalypse, cars, planes, radios and much morei stopped playing as the sword came out and as the new "better" combat rolled around i quit, now this rift and jasons apparent descent into madness, he was always a bad game designer of sorts but this is a new low even for him. The one moment that stuck with me the whole way was a n old man teaching me how to smith and me teaching  my kids, to me that is what this game is about, teaching and learning from family. Cooperating and surviving, but this seems to not be apparent for jason. He is actively making a worse game out of a great one and that saddens me. Anyway, farewell. i Hope i meet some of you again and thank you, for making me laugh and be sad. but foremost, for meeting you at all

EDIT: to clarify, i have barely played since swords. i hoped for the better but jason seems against longevity so i am not going to be a part of this anymore, it was fun while it lasted though!

Re: Goodbye

Your right 100 percent, and Jason is joking betting on the families survivial, while towns are literally having to kill of their babies  because of overpopulation and Jason is just sitting back and eating popcorn.

imagine leaving and blaming the developer on an update that's not been out more than a day

Re: Goodbye

I have not played for more than a week because the level of violence and griefing in the game was too high for me.

But from what I read about what is happening now ...

If it's not a sick experiment, it's just that the game is dead.

It's a pity, it was an amazing, great game.

Re: Goodbye

Things that make this game unique and great for me:
-Surviving
-Building humongous buildings
-Insanely large well tended gardens
-Passing on legacies / long lineages
-OCCASIONAL drama when you could actually counter it
-Things that make the civ unique compared to others. Off meta citys.
-And last but most important actually working together with group of random people

Things i highly dislike in this game:
-Murders
-Grieffing
-Withering untended towns
-Clutter/thrash
-Mosquitoes! REEEEE
-Hoarding (dibs for property fence)

For me this game has gone in total opposite way of what i love in this game and what makes it stand out from rest of the games. Every other game has its main point on killing and conquering. Hundreds of battle royale modes and loot boxes. When i first saw this game i was like "wow, you have to build, gather and create things together for everybody to live a better life. Now thats something new".

What the game feels for me now is just a warzone. Old prospering towns crumbled and littered all around. Constant threat of attacks that you stand no chance against with vanilla client. Murder drama mayhem.
utopia
Can never imagine this kinda of situation actually happening. No backbags, people of different races, zero knifes/warswords,  no dead bodies laying around.

Re: Goodbye

it takes less than 30 minutes to realize that the gameplay has completely gone to shit due to resorce scarcity in a prison murder simulation.
and this was being foretold by dozens of players before the update and ignored.
jason proidly claimed "500x500 is way enough for a populationm of 200.
this quickly went to 100x100, then back to 800x800.
and it doesnt take a genius to KNOW that 4000x4000 is still too small.
any beliefs that jason holds are reasonably asserted to be nonsense.

This game used to be something, now its a lot like the game [hard time] by MDickie, a wrestling game, forced into the context of a prison-life simulator.

now jason keeps joking about his own ignorance on discord, while at least admitting that the rift thing was "possibly" a complete failure to be undone on request.
no, jason, theres no request needed here.

your experiment has proven beyond a doubt that ALL your game mechanics are not self sustainable.

Re: Goodbye

Three, this update is an experiment, not even one of the worst like fences and specially swords.

I know it feels awful but try seeing some opportunity here for a more dinamic gameplay over time.

Right now we should pester Jason to fix obvious griefing tactics  made possible by this change

It's fewer possible players at one time, because players get limited by food availability.  Fewer players may make the game more dynamic for you, but it's fewer potential stories for people overall.

I don't know how bad this update is in detail.  That said, this game has always been small scale (in terms of the number of people playing).  Just imagine if 1000 people were trying to live on the new bs2 in this game.  What do you think the average life expectancy would be?

Re: Goodbye

I'm glad I stopped playing months ago. It's a relief not to witness these terrible changes first hand.

It amazes me that Jason doesn't grasp that he's driving off more and more of the peaceful players and leaving nothing but griefers and disgruntled people playing the game.

Have fun with your torture porn, Jason.

You aren't as wonderful as you think you are.

You need to stop loving the smell of your own farts.

I hope one day you realize that being humble and critical of one's self is where real growth occurs.

They are worse than useless because you want to believe them. They will defend you against critiques that are valid. They will seduce you into believing you are done learning, or into thinking that your work is better than it actually is. Especially watch out for the ones who tell you that nobody understands your genius.

Honestly, this is going to sound horrible, but self-doubt is one of your most powerful tools for craftsmanship. None of the designers you admire feel self-confident about their work in that way. None of them think that they are awesome. They all suffer from impostor complexes the size of the Titanic.

I am not saying that you need to lack confidence in yourself. (Heck, you’ll never put anything out if that’s the case! You need to have the arrogance to assume anyone will care in the first place). I am saying that nobody is ever done learning, and people who tell you you have arrived will give you a sense of complacency. You should never be complacent about your art.

Re: Goodbye

Yeah I'm gone too, at this point. Not willing to be one of Jason's mindless guinea pigs anymore. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about the results of his shitty experiments or the opinions of his players.

It was fun while it lasted. I'm sticking around to see the shitshow go down but like hell I'm going to keep playing if he's gotten to the point of pure immaturity in response to the uproar from his community. But hey, at least he's having fun, who cares if everybody else isn't?

The OP left before this update.  Note the comment about leaving when the sword came out.  This seems more along the lines of 'I thought about coming back, but now I'm convinced that's a bad idea'.

You also don't read. I clearly stated I'm sticking around in the community, if only to sit back and watch the show. Besides, I actually really like the playerbase. I can value that, if nothing else.

Re: Goodbye

The world can be one together; Cosmos without hatred.
Stars like diamonds in your eyes.
The ground can be space, space, space. space, space.
With feet marching towards a peaceful sky.

All the Moonmen want things their way,
but we make sure they see the Sun.

Goodbye, Moonmen.
You say Goodbye, Moonmen.

Goodbye, Moonmen.
Goodbye, Moonmen.
Oh, goodbye.

j4OnzGN.gif

Cosmos without hatred, diamond stars of cosmic light.
Quasars shine through endless night.
And everything, is one, in the beauty.

And now we say Goodbye, Moonmen.
You say Goodbye, Moonmen.
Goodbye, Moonmen.
Goodbye, Moonmen.
Oh, goodbye.
