Probably give swords at least a small cooldown

Just like subject says. Probably would be best to give the sword a modest cooldown. Maybe two to five seconds? That way another village could at least have time to react and not get slaughtered en masse.

Kind of torn on this. On one hand, it gives a city reason to have everyone armed, or at least a couple of guards. But on the other hand, you can just slaughter a starting village. That just feels kind of wrong. Like going to a third world city and just mowing down people a machine gun (the American way lol).

Edit: I guess one of the first things you do is rush fences? Maybe that's the solution.

Believe you're right, but don't believe you can't be wrong.

Rushing fences lmao.

But in seriousness they probably shouldn't be allowed to repeatedly stab the same person as doing so makes the death stagger timer useless. Clicking someone multiple times reduces the death stagger each time and you just die in four seconds instead of forty.

Also they definitely shouldn't be allowed to go in backpacks, aprons, or shorts. Not real sure the thought process of putting a sharp blade through fabric that gets cut by flint chips.

I don't think it needs murder stagger but it definitely shouldn't be allowed to be hidden or abused for quick kills. If you see someone with a sword just walk away and get a snowball. Most people in this game are completely inept at pvp so just take their sword and stab them repeatedly.

fug it’s Tarr.

Hmmm, the idea to repeatedly slash someone never occurred to me. That's really funny, but just might need addressing lol.

Yes, you can repeatedly stab someone.  That's intentional, for now...  we'll see where it takes us.

And yes, you've caught on to my design intention regarding fences....

Re: Probably give swords at least a small cooldown

I'm not really that sold on fences being good enough tbh.

I think one of the issues is that there's really no map vision in the game unless you're running a mod.

Having watchtowers and that kind of thing were really critical to ancient settlements -- because if you didn't see hostiles coming in advance, the settlement would be taken by surprise and there wouldn't be time to shut the gates. The default game screen is a little too small for that kind of play, imo.

Right now, everything is kind of like at the equivalent of a "surprise attack".

Yeah, visibility is a very good point. This is going to be hell for those of us that don't use zoom.
