do people actually follow created religions?

i think itd be a fun thing to do in well established areas if bored
the only issue is getting people to play along. have any of you actually gotten a cult / church successfully running?

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

I had a fairly successful bonsai cult going in a few towns, but religions lead to murders

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

I only see people trying to force feed their religion without anything to support it. Like c'mon if you gonna have a religion build atleast an altar in name of it, even a temple. Roleplaying with just words is nothing but a babling food sink. Actions speak louder than words.

I happen to know a chest filled with the words of their bible, and it lasted many generations. Didn't read it though, but saw people read. I build monuments that last longer than any religion add a momma grave in the midle of it with  i.e bonsai on it and its a bonsai temple...

make a box, fill it with notes of your religion. Make a path for the disciples for an rite of passage and so on... Be more creative.

PS. You obviously didn't play the game when carrot was the main food source...

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

I have seen a three-person cult worshipping a german shepherd they named "Fydo".
The first two died of old age, the third one got themselves killed for sacrificing people to the dog's corpse.
Lineage link of two of the cultists: http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=1175120

Also a cultist female sacrificing all their babies to an empty obelisk.

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

I've seen a couple really nice altars that lasted for quite a long time. The religions/cults they were built for died long before the altars themselves though. I don't participate in cult roleplay, so I never knew much about them.

Made a few churches. What we need is written documentations of our religious!
Only problem is, you can't write that much on a piece of paper. When you're in your fifties you can write something like this:

Please join the mushroom cult or we will kill you
== cannot write until age forty nine

Do you have a few minutes to join our mushroom cult?
== cannot write until age fifty two

All followers of the mushroom cult must wear red wool hats
== cannot write until age fifty nine

Has anyone from mushroom cult mapped items that change and to what. You could master that and collect specific items to get specific visions....

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

There used to be a big carrot worshiping cult awhile ago that people role-played. There was even a rival berry cult.

Re: do people actually follow created religions?

Mushroom sellers in the streets. In one life I had a good vendor going. I was shepherd so I would trade the mushroom seller wool clothes for mushrooms, was pretty nice and the beginning of trade but I had to leave in the middle. A successful mushroom trade system is what we need to fuel and ignite this wonderful religion, in the opinion of me and many other players.
