Sometimes I do not get the first hunger reminder which normally happens at 4 pips until there are only 3 or even 2 pips left, then I get a couple together in rapid succession. This ends in death a lot.
Lag is unavoidable and probably worse for me in Australia, but shouldn't the client be able to predict hunger status without requiring a message from the server?

Just played a game where I got first hunger warning pings at 2 pips, and died of hunger moments later with those 2 pips still on screen...
edit: for clarity, I mean around 0.6 seconds between the first warning ping and the death by starvation screen.
I had food in a backpack, but died while putting down what I was doing to get it out...
