It was so much fun after the reset with everyone working together to build a new town. It's a really comfy server and I went deep into the wilderness on my own to learn how to make everything from scratch several times and find the most efficient way to start a civilization.

It's incredibly difficult to play this game on a laggy satellite connection with 800ms ping but the challenge of having fewer actions per lifetime while not getting killed by the lag because of the slower hunger rate gave me a lot of room to grow and become super resourceful.

Erk, was away for the weekend. Server on v75 now. It's a new map again because the map from v73 was crashing the server when someone connected...

We scheduled our updates for Saturday's on 2HOL for this reason. Having client control helps, this way people use a separate directory and can play no matter what.

I've not really got the free time myself to deal with providing my own version of the client. I think for now I'll just try checking in every couple days to stay up-to-date with the official servers. Might try and get round to automating it so it updates itself if the official servers are on a newer version than it.

Server is on v84 now.

Hmm, looks like there were a couple server crash bugs in there having looked at the recent commit history, I've updated to the latest commit (even though it's not tagged as a released version yet) and it's back up and running.

I was hoping that I could join because the server updated to version 86 (Could not join yesterday because it was outdated)

Can you make it so everyone will spawn in the same spot? Like it was before.
There is like 3 players playing on this server on average now, so it's almost impossible to build anything.

If you were looking for some place to practice without being among many players, your easiest option is to try joining up on one of Jason’s low pop servers. They’re the mostly empty servers on this list:

To join one of them you just need to go into settings in game, copy-paste the ip of the server you want to play on and check the box that says “custom server”. Beware though that it runs on the same setting as the bigserver if you were looking for some place with less of a need for food.
