Emptying a soil pit a second time turns it into empty clay pit
dug an empty soil pit with a shovel. after removing the last bit of dirt, it turned into an empty clay pit.

This is intentional, to let you know that there's no more soil left there.
If you dig in the top soil in real life, you eventually hit clay.
