Hello, this may have been answered somewhere but I couldn't find it. I've been playing on the private server and a new neighbor accidentally let out a bear. They asked me to go kill it cause I'm the more advanced player and I've done it before. Of course in looking for the bear, I got killed by the bear cause it hit my horse and I couldn't get off without getting bit. I made my way back to the village and went back to get my horse and realized there are two bear caves really close to where I died. I have no way to know if that's where the bear came from cause my neighbor didn't even know how they had triggered it. Now, I can't find the bear. So back to the title. Do bears ever go back in their caves or is it still loose nearby and I need to find it before it gets to the village? Thanks!

Well, practically - no. But technically...
A bear can go back within two seconds of one leaving. I think it might be like that for if there is nowhere for the bear to go.
Here, look at this page for the Bear Cave empty just left. You'll see after two seconds it transitions to the empty bear cave. But if a bear lands on it before that, it goes back to the default cave.
Of course this is nearly impossible. It just wouldn't happen naturally. I mention it to sort of explain how to read the onetech.

It happens quite a lot naturally, sometimes a tree spawns in front of the cave, or another cave spawns in front of another cave, this causes the bear to go back into the cave.

Oh, yeah! Good note.

Well, I couldn't relocate it so maybe I'm lucky and it wandered off somewhere away from the village. I'll check the two caves and see if either says empty.
