Jason in 2018 on Griefing

I was looking through old posts for Jason using the term "incest".  The motivation in that, I realized that the "Jason as father of all" narrative, implies that every female who reproduces who isn't an Eve, does so via incest.  I mean, if someone reproduced with their "father" in real life, we'd say that incest occurred, and I don't think a better word than "incest" exists here.  The only women in game not engaging in an incestuous  relationship are Eves.  Mating mechanics for players clearly would mean *less* incest than that, since someone would reproduce with their distant cousin (we're all cousins in the sense of evolution going back to the first humans) or someone from a different family (yes, blacks can't be fertile in the same area as browns, but two gingers from different families can be fertile in the same area).

Anyways, what I found was Jason said this on griefing some 31 months ago in May of 2018:

....one of my friends said, "Can't you just ask them to stop?"

If the game allows this, it's part of the game, and people are going to do it.  It IS part of the game, but having ways to deal with it is also supposed to be part of the game.  Every civilization needs to figure out how to deal with this, both inside and outside the game.

Currently, in the game as it stands, I know that I could destroy every village, and I know there would be no way for them to stop me in the long run, even if they were paying attention and killing me whenever they caught me.  I'd just keep coming back.

This is a problem.  It doesn't matter what happens in practice, or what people will actually do.  It matters that it is possible.

If it's not a huge problem now, there is potential for it to be a huge problem in the future.  I'm not going to wait until it's a huge problem before I fix it.

Also, I read that whole post and Jason didn't even mention incest once.

I feel strangely cheated.

I didn't promise that anything on incest from Jason would follow, did I?  I titled this as a post about Jason on griefing, right?

Destiny,

Here's an example I've now found of Jason using the word "incest":

jasonrohrer wrote:

Actually, I don't think incest was my main concern when I avoided simulation of mating.  I just didn't want this to be a game about consent.

According to Jason it seems, people thinking about consent would pose an issue.  It just doesn't make much sense to me, and seems rather cowardly, since human reproduction in the real world involves matters of consent or people who fail to take the consent of others into consideration.
