Predictions of OHOL's future

Like many players, I am bored by this game, because recently there were no updates. That just means game itself became boring, it needs constant updates or it will die. I lived through more RP, more shitshows, more action, game now is dull and boring.  I even became griefer recently, scrapped engines and seriously, no one even tried to stop me. People no longer protect their towns.

So in what state Jason should leave this game? If he would leave right now and proceed to next big project, game would die. xD I think he need to make medium size rift, so people would have states - 1. building towns 2. stability 3. running out of resources 4. killing themselves for map wipe out.

Re: Predictions of OHOL's future

I hated the feel of the game during the Rift experiment.

It felt like eating glass, dying, then eating more glass.

And the constant cycling between new clean rift and dirt depleted rift got boring and repetitive real quick.   I do not see more restrictions and resource depletion as the best solution for keeping this game alive and interesting in the absence of new content.

I think we need better game-play loops, so we are not constantly forced into the same narrow path forward.  This would allow each town to develop its own unique personality and culture - like Casino town.   This game already has a ton of content that is rarely explored.  Dead content that needs tweaking to make it viable, like fishing, pig farming, and airplanes.

Re: Predictions of OHOL's future

This really isn't a prediction more of a complaint about your enjoyment of the game

"hear how the wind begins to whisper, but now it screams at me" said ashe
"I remember it from a Life I never Lived" said Peaches
"Now Chad don't invest in Asian markets" said Chad's Mom

Re: Predictions of OHOL's future

Here's a hot take: Jason is bored of ohol too and has been preparing to move onto a new project for most of 2020. He probably has been since around the time the diesel engine was introduced and tech climb stagnated.

Many of the controversial changes are probably a way for him to experiment with different concepts and mechanics that may be more effectively implemented in a comprehensive and deliberately designed form rather than being tacked on haphazardly after the fact like in ohol. In other words, examining gameplay problems that are present in ohol and may be impossible to really resolve without making a new game entirely. Like doctor frankenstein stitching together a mishmash of parts so that he can better envision how he'll build a newer better model from the ground up.

That's actually good. Emotions bound you to something. I don't hate OHOL, I'm bored which is opposite to love/hate.

Re: Predictions of OHOL's future

Umm no.  Hate is not good.  Don't give me that crap.

I don't want to see this game turn into something I hate. What would be the point of that?   I want to see Jason improve this game and leave it in a good place when he eventually moves on to other projects.

I don't. Hate is BAD, but it works better than boredom.

Is there a game like OHOL in FPP?
