I played a game where everyone had an unique hardware ID, and to change that ID one would need to change a component in their PC (RAM, hard drive or whatever)
I'm not sure if it would be worth implementing something like this in OHOL, because currently only Bobo abuses us through multiple accounts. But if there were more people doing it, it would be cool if we could "CURSE" hardware ID instead of hash connected to the account. This way it wouldn't be worth buying more accounts only to grief, unless you have many PCs.

#102 Re: Main Forum » One question to onemap.wondible » 2020-06-25 23:03:50

Map seed is released only after a map wipe if I'm right, that's why you can see biomes only in old data in the map.
That's intended, Jason doesn't want to let us see the current map in third party apps.

#103 Re: Main Forum » Why I take a hands-off approach » 2020-06-25 19:36:43

I don't see a problem here, I don't feel like we need to police these things.
I would even say that this game teaches being a good person, since bad people are being cursed by others very often - that's a good lesson for them.

The only bad thing that we can't often handle, is Bobo killing families with his many accounts, so cursing doesn't really help. I wish I could curse all of his accounts at once, some kind of hardware ID, so cursing would actually ban his PC for 30 days and not just an account.

What is the reason to not simply put the extra yum food in the normal food pipes and only if max reached display them as extra "invisible" pips like now.

And then people would never learn how many pips a food gives if it gave a different amount everytime depending on how big your yum is. Also it wouldn't be so clear that yum actually works for new people.
Leave it like it is.
And just change the sound to start if you have 4 pips in total with bonus food (for example 1 pip +5 bonus pips = you wouldn't hear the starving sound, but 1 pip +2 pips and you would hear it)

Once we got live-dev-change, you can read the code to know how it works. Rip mystery.

I'm worried we would have an apocalypse every 15 hours.

How did it work before? Eves were spawning only first 10 hours after an apocalypse, and then apocalypse happened when only one fam left. But we didn't need all races to survive back then.

Trees are kind of problematic because they are too tall and most people can't see behind them.   So when you use trees to make a pen or define a space, you lose a significant number of tiles due to the leaves blocking the tiles behind them.

That being said, I do like to see people being creative.    I wish that walls did not auto-orient.    That "update" really pissed me off because it breaks a lot of unique artistic designs.

People learned making so tight towns, that we must care about every single tile. That's another thing that makes every town look the same, they all are super tight. Tho if they weren't, super short sighted people (vanilla users) could have hard time finding things.

Yeah, I never liked auto-orient thing too.

And suddenly all villages feels same

Probably because people lack creativity for some reason.

There was one pretty unique town. They had no walls/rooms at all, and they survived the longest after food changes (over 180 generations).

For example I really don't know why every kitchen has to look the same in every town, with all these ugly walls over and over again (I mean, they aren't ugly, but aren't you bored doing it over and over again the same way?). Can't someone just surround it with trees for once?

More successful, longer-lived families who ARE doing a good job of survival are being killed off by the demise of their less successful neighbors.

Families who are doing a good job also help their less successful neighbors, that's the key to survive really long time. Helping other families is a good thing, isn't it? It gives us more things to do, it makes this game harder, and I like it.
Tho, it's hard with this big amount of newbies, and also we can't do much against Bobo if he manages to become a leader...

#110 Re: Main Forum » Why so distant? - about game difficulty » 2020-06-22 10:47:25

Yeah, last time I played as a black, we had 2k to browns too.
I wonder if it's new spawn mechanic's fault, in old spawn mechanic we didn't have families that far apart, but the issue was that Eve's spawned in old, occupied areas with no wild food.

Too bad cars are dead content, they are twice as fast as horses and I wouldn't mind traveling 2k tiles with a car if it didn't require kerosene. But even if cars didn't require kerosene to work, I'm worried some people would always steal them anyways... Well, we could fence them tho, to prevent that.

By the way, why no one revived this town? i mean after a hour any fertile woman could go there and make a homeland? Of course now its most-likely too far away, but why no one revived it back then?

They were super far from new Eves. Donkeys were moving Eve spawn 20k tiles at once. It's fixed now, they can't do it anymore.

#112 Re: Main Forum » Food Discussion » 2020-06-21 12:21:39

Greathouse family, which was the longest fam lately, had very big field of stew/turkey broth. They had big separate farm for stew stuff, so it was easy and fast to make it in big quantities.
I think they could have survived much longer if Bobo didn't kill them. I think it's a good idea to have big stew areas, since it's a great food for beginners, I mean for those who don't yum. And it's fairly cheap.
That's how it looked: https://onemap.wondible.com/#x=-311129& … 1592342125

#115 Re: Main Forum » Why Do Families Die? » 2020-06-17 09:46:01

Yeah, Greathouse fam died (102 generations, not that bad) during early morning (eu time), we had about 31 players on the server. But I heard Bobo killed them...

#116 Re: Main Forum » Why Do Families Die? » 2020-06-17 09:42:16

Hmm. If I set 20 frames per second it doesn't pause at all, if I set 25 it pauses every few seconds just for a fraction of a second.
So with 20 frames per seconds it's all fine.

See that date at the center of the screen? That's what I meant.
Replay runs nice and smooth for 6.5 seconds and then it pauses and that date shows up for 3.5 seconds (irl time, I checked with stopwatch). No matter how much Game Time/Second I set, it runs for about 6.5 seconds irl and then pauses for about 3.5 seconds showing the date. A bit annoying :c

#118 Re: Main Forum » Why Do Families Die? » 2020-06-16 23:45:28

Dammit wondible, this is just great! 3m 0s Game Time/Second with 60 Frames/Second is really cool to watch. Tho it pauses every while for a few seconds to show the date... Can I turn it off? I would want to watch without those pauses.

I'll definitely use it more often to see how towns were doing after my death.

#119 Re: Main Forum » Why Do Families Die? » 2020-06-16 18:08:11

Over 800 generations was long time ago, it was really hard to die out back then, and people almost never suffered lack of food or water and also iron was infinite. Such long families didn't live in only one place, we had no homesick update yet, people were making new places all the time, because unlike now, advanced towns were super boring and people didn't even need to work, since foods had so big food values.

As for why they die out now... I'm wondering it too. I wish we could just download data log (like this http://publicdata.onehouronelife.com/pu … life.com/) and just run replay of any player and see what happened from his point of view.

#120 Re: Main Forum » The distance bug » 2020-06-16 09:30:48

I heard some people in donkey town do it on purpose.

#121 Re: Main Forum » Where is the love? Can we end the segregation!? Please?! » 2020-06-15 13:24:56

I would even say this game is anti-racist. It encourages multiracial interactions, help and love tongue

#122 Re: Main Forum » Where is the love? Can we end the segregation!? Please?! » 2020-06-15 13:23:13

Yeah, maybe you are right. But it still kinda sucks that people see a problem if something is connected to the skin color in a video game. All races are equally important in OHOL (well, except blondes. Blond racism, reee).

I wonder what Jason thinks about all these racism accusations.

#123 Re: Main Forum » Where is the love? Can we end the segregation!? Please?! » 2020-06-15 10:55:53

I feel sorry for people who see racism everywhere.
Omg, a ginger can't get a banana from jungle, reee racism.
Get a doctor guys, there is something wrong with you.

If it wasn't for vets using Hetuw things would be way way WAY worse. Bless it.

Kinda agree. I would hate it without Hetuw... I feel sorry for vanilla users. Tho, Twisted is doing pretty good without mods. Not super efficient but still good.

As for talking, we don't really need to talk with other races. Just help them. Last life when I played as a black, I made many bowls and filled them with sulfur. There is about 30 bowls of sulfur in the black's town, any fam can feel free to take as much as they need, blacks can always get more and just share.
Browns can help the same way. Gingers too, tho they need more help from other families and more skilled players. Blonds are pretty much useless.

We are not separated by race, but by family name. Two brown families can't live together either. This game is not racist at all.
