There are natural springs on very lowest tile of each band. You can't remove them so it would be better to make road one tile higher.

Yeah, but that doesn't tell that the game was less fun... (Idk why am I even answering to you)
This is a terrible game for new players. Little sight size, no crafting book, no tutorial. It doesn't matter if the game gets more fun, it's very likely that we won't get more players if new players will keep quitting after their first minutes with the game.
As long as Jason doesn't care about new players, this game will remain low populated no matter what else he adds IMO.

#53 Re: Main Forum » What’s up! » 2020-11-02 05:34:50

Bands update is very good, way better than a content update could give us. Tho this game still needs more game mechanics improvements IMO to make it more interesting. More content (items) wouldn't make this game more fun I think.

The world is too peaceful IMO. It was fun when people could instant kill each other without cooldown. When we had to protect our towns with property fences against strangers. We had healers and so on... We were making peaces with some families and wars with others. Now all this game has is just building, which is kinda lame. Tho it's just my opinion.

Players might play more if they saw what happened where they lived.

Damn, first time I must agree with Spoonwood. It's motivating to play if you can see that your family has use of your hard work.

After all we want to leave the place we live in as a better place than it was when we were born. Why bother tho if it's all gone after you die? Well, we do it anyways...

Who knows how real world would look like if it was 100% certain that there is nothing after our life and there is no god. Would people bother to live? How many of them wouldn't? Would people be more evil?

At least in a game that tries to imitate reality there could be happy ending, where it is not all pointless... tongue

I think you mean band line.  But, alright you would feel annoyed.

Me? To me it wouldn't be a big thing. I'm more worried about all these newbies that wouldn't understand what is going on.

This sounds like abusing the system.

I don't understand this comment. Even before homelands there were some mechanics that players could use to enhance their probability of having a child, or ignore to decrease their probability of having a child (temperature and yum), even when they weren't very effective.

These mechanics that you are talking about were intended, and I'm pretty sure living together with other races in band border is unintended. Why are you even defending something that shouldn't be in the game?

This sounds like abusing the system. Also it would be annoying to just keep seeing "+HOMESICK+" and "+HOME+" whenever you pass the well line.

Before the update, as an Eve you could have kids everywhere, except the places where other families lived (100 tiles every direction from their well). Are you sure this was removed too and your "tip" is possible?

If yes, we should probably report about this to Jason. I don't think living together with other races this way should be possible. Either make homesick when near other fam's well again or remove natural springs every 200 tiles y axis in whole x axis. This way you can't make a well just in the bands border if there are no natural springs.

#57 Re: Main Forum » After Death Ghost Spectating - They are... Among Us » 2020-10-26 23:30:33

Yes, mobile version of this game has it and it is a great thing.

In among us you can move freely as a ghost tho, which isn't possible in the mobile ohol, where your camera is stuck to the person you are watching. You can swap your camera between family members tho.

Burrying doesn't use shovel charges, unburying does tho. https://onetech.info/1011-Buried-Grave- … groundOnly

Yeah, the best way is just to remove flat rocks and wait until graves decay (1 hour)

Clearly Jason's fault. Many people have fps issues even with strong PCs.

I use WSAD almost all the time using hetuw. It should be in the vanilla as well IMO, especially if new people ask for it.
Crafting menu (recipe book) is another thing that should be in the game. It's really weird we don't have it (except this ugly text recipes at the bottom right screen).

#62 Re: Main Forum » Coming soon: Specialty Biome and Homland geographic banding » 2020-10-19 20:39:50

Gingers will probably have much easier and bigger access to kerosene, tho getting rubber and especially horses will be difficult for them.

For the other hand blacks should have tons of horses, but you can only ride one at a time, so it may be hard to share them in bigger quantities.

#63 Re: Main Forum » Coming soon: Specialty Biome and Homland geographic banding » 2020-10-19 20:28:18

I'm always much more excited for new game mechanics than new content.

Im glad, Jason, that you are improving the game, but I'm sad you are not improving it for new players. And that is what this game needs to keep them playing the game.

Can you imagine that?

On the other hand, 2,551 people lived only one life and died younger than 10.

1,147 lived only one life and died younger than 5.

What a waste of $20 for these people, wow.

This is the real issue that should have the highest priority to fix. We need new people stay with the game.

Built-in recipe book (just like in mobile version of this game) and bigger view size would be a great start.

#64 Re: Main Forum » Question About The Water System » 2020-10-14 02:36:40

Onetech is pretty clear at this one. You can remove pump valve to get dry shallow well again, but once diesel is installed it can't be anything else than diesel/exhaused well anymore.

I think it could have some benefits to install diesel pump on dry shallow well tho.
Super late generation families can't stay in one place forever if they want to survive even longer since they are far away from other families and resources. Easy access to water from diesel pump right away could make it easier to survive in a new place. New place = new easy access to new resources, so the lose from unused well stages is not big deal if that's the price for surviving.

#65 Re: Main Forum » Eve Update!! » 2020-10-12 01:25:51

If we had more eves, families would die out really quickly due to lack of players.

I think if you have a newcomen and kerosene the best is to make a kerosene newcomen pump (will brake down too eventually). If I'm not wrong then it gives eight buckets of water.

It's a greater volume of water quicker.  But, if you use the charcoal pump only, you'll spend less kerosene on water.

You would spend that kerosene on diesel pump anyways. Using kero on newcomen pump gives you 4 more buckets of water (8 in total). There is no point not using kero on newcomen pump.

SID baby bones dissapear after about 5 minutes, so it's not big deal.

#70 Re: Frequently Asked Questions » Property gates » 2020-09-28 20:45:20

If you have overship to a gate, you can remove it with an axe. Make it again and you will be the only person with ownership.

#71 Re: Main Forum » Another One Hourish Review From Steam » 2020-09-27 14:01:07

Mobile version of this game has great tutorial and very good recipe book built in-game. I think you should check it, Jason.

#72 Re: Main Forum » Another One Hourish Review From Steam » 2020-09-27 13:38:58

I agree, first games are terrible in OHOL. No wonder why so many people quit after the first game. Tutorial sucks, I would scrap it entirely. Little sight doesn't make it any better. No built in recipe book - people can't experiment on their own (except that ugly thing at the bottom right, I doubt people use it).

Jason makes the game unplayable for new people
People buy it and quit it after first game
Jason: wow people, what a waste of money.
... xD

This game is really cool, but only if you can do at least basic things, the more you know the more fun it is IMO.

It almost ended the same way to me. First games really suck in OHOL. It's too overwhelming, especially with that little view size.

#75 Re: Main Forum » Racists are harming their own race » 2020-09-25 18:24:45

I feel sad for people who see racism everywhere. Why did you assume that they were hostile because of your different skin color? Did they tell you that? Maybe they were hostile because they were scared of a thief, which in the end you turned out to be one.
