#1 Re: Main Forum » Tried being a Paper Merchant » 2019-08-02 06:52:07

I think that trading should be much easier. And because the towns are now fenced and it's far too dangerous to go there as a trader, I think we need neutral grounds to trade. How about a marketplace, already placed in the center of the map. I could be ruins of some kind or what not, maybe like a stonehenge type of thing, i don't know. In the marketplace everyone would be able to understand each other and maybe killing could not be done there. There is already magic in this game, magic fences, swords, nosaj etc... People could come from all over the map to trade and talk, maybe make allies or even enemies. I know this maybe has a lot of griefing opportunities, but what doesn't. Jason wants us to trade and co-operate between towns, I just don't know if it is possible without some kind of neutral grounds. Making paper is slow and many can't be bothered. Even if one person in town is okay with a trader to come near the town, others might not be and the trader gets killed. How many times a player is prepared to go through the hassle of making paper just to get killed or get his/hers stuff stolen in a town. A marketplace would fix this issue, it's already there and you can just gather or make goods and go sell them. Not enough iron in the town? Send someone to the marketplace to see if there's any to trade.

Actually had a really nice life yesterday outside the rift.

Same here, but at first I didn't even realize I was outside the rift because I hadn't played much after the insane baby boom. I thought well, this isn't so bad! Maybe things have cooled down! I had a productive life farming and made friends. Then it dawned on me that I was actually outside the rift. I then played a few games inside and got murdered twice as a kid, everything was so bad. Haven't played since.

I just tried 13 times. Huge baby trail running after the few moms that were there. Moms played lottery who gets to stay... well, I didn't win. I agree, this is ridiculous.

Once my Avast had placed the .exe file to the virus chest for some reason... I could not launch the game from Steam, but once I created an exception and restored the file from the virus chest, it worked again.

The other day I was playing several lives, and was murdered in almost every life. Did not get to old age once, if I remember correctly. It was insane, never before have I witnessed this amount of murder in this game. And I didn't do anything to bring this upon myself, expect one life where foreigners attacked our town and I was defending it, then sure, I understand why I was killed by the foreigners.
Ways I got murdered that day (the ones I remember):
- Just born, arrow to the chest
- Minding my own business, foreigner killed me with sword (this happened more than one time)
- Got accused of something I did not do, got stabbed before I could explain it was not me (we all looked the same so maybe I looked like the one who actually did something wrong)
- Random griefer run past me and stabbed me for no reason (this too happened more than once if I remember correctly)
- Defending town, foreigner killed me with sword
(- One time I wasn't murdered but I was born to a mom who was running with a bloody knife, people chasing her. I starved)

And of course on top of this, I witnessed many many people murdered in towns. It felt like not only the foreign people with swords were blood thirsty that day, but also own family members were running with knives and bows more than before. I just wanted one good life where I would be productive and grow old, but it seemed impossible.

I don't know if this kind of suggestion has already been made at some point, I just joined this forum. I never join anything in the internet, but I love this game so much I had to. smile

What if the player was given a trait when born. If the player uses /die or dies otherwise before a specific age (lets say for example 15), the player would be given the same trait again in the next life. Maybe this would encourage a player to try to stay alive? And when the character is 15, maybe the player has already become invested to the village life and doesn't want to die anymore. If the trait wouldn't affect the player negatively, only positively, it wouldn't even be a reason to make the player angry if he/she dies in starvation or what ever, by accident.

Possible traits could be for example:

-Farmer: The crops the player plants grow a little faster
-Hunter: Needs only one arrow to kill an animal, including bears and other animals that normally need more than one, or the rabbit dies a bit quicker in the snare
-Smith: The forge or kiln stays warm a little longer
etc.

Everything else would stay the same, so if you were born with a farmer trait but don't want to be a farmer, you don't have to, because there are no negative effects.

Of course the players who don't care about having the same trait over and over would use /die the same amount they do now. But maybe some players would find this as encouragement to stay in the village and live on, so they can have some other trait in the next life. Maybe this would give some kind of extra purpose to life, for some at least.

Edit:I just thought of this... This could also add some kind of "trade" to the game. For example, there are two early(ish) towns near each other. The other village has two people with the farmer trait, the other one does not have any but they have two hunters. So, maybe the other town could send "help" to the other town, in form of a person with the farmer trait and the other could send the hunter in return. The towns now share some kind of bond with each other.
