I could not agree more, and the general label of griefing for the vast majority of people that can not stop themselves from using the word, simply means "something that I do not like or do not admire"

The idea of greifing is ruining someone elses fun/work and that's exactly whats happening.. the definition of greifing hasn't been distorted its just became so rampant that that people are saying things aren't grieving when they clearly are. When something becomes so common the extremities become normal, and the normal becomes non existent and that's where the concept of greifing is right now.

That's pretty fucked pein. I make more engines in a week then people do in their whole time playing.. My shit gets grieved. Thanks Lava.

You know what really fucked up the town? The fence someone put around it while I was making the walls yesterday! They locked everyone into a little 2 well area and while I was going to check on them I noticed everyone dead, and the wells and the berries were dry.

Fences are absolutely annoying and a waste of time, people. If you're going to make them, at least fence in 4 springs and make them all wells so people can survive the transitions from shallow, to deep, to charcoal, kerosene and diesel, or, whatever the stages are. It always seems you guys that make engines are in such a hurry to tech up that you neglect your families, and in turn, they neglect the farms. Maybe we should just all slow down a little, chill out and stop rushing tech to the point where people can make iron swords as easily as they could make paper airplanes? Then you might get to enjoy revisiting the fruits of your labor for longer than 48 hours?

The more you neglect your children, the more they'll turn on you, the less you'll want to be with them.

Is that what you want? Kids you hate? because that's all the new players are coming into this game knowing; that's what's winning the fight here, neglect.

Even while I was working on those walls as women, I was caring for my kids. I had no fire to stand by, no one was baking me pies or food to "YUM" down on. I ate cactus fruit and gooseberries for like, 18 hours over the course of like 20 lives, half of which were as a woman, and I did my best every one of those lives to maximize work AND care.

--

I'm sorry, I shouldn't blame you. But I can't blame Jason either, he may have added the sword recipe to the game, but he's not the one crafting them (far as I know); you are.

We're not even fighting over resources anymore, I am seeing huge swathes of the map nearly untouched, now things are devolving to the point of murder for the sake of murder.

Please, stop. Stop allowing yourselves to go along with a few nutcases. Break down the swords when and where you find them. Prioritize maintaining peace  if it's ever broken. Everyone does not need a knife, it only leads to people killing each other for the stupidest of reasons. And trust me, they're all stupid. They always have been, they always will be. So what if someone is eating berries every 4 seconds while naked, guess what? Even if your whole family starves to death because if it you'll just be reborn elsewhere.

Jason wanted to make a game to show the value of life, to let people know life is precious, at least, thats what he told all the PR people he probably paid to interview him. And now we've gotten to the point where you should accept that it's not the lives in the game that are precious, but those of the people behind the computers that are. They are the people you should be caring for; they are the ones you are teaching, when you're like fucking pein was for the last year and a half, always making sure you had the first bow "i'm the one making the sheep pen therefore i should get the arrow oh and I'll just always keep it in my backpack", the first knife and killing other players for the most petty reasons.

Insecurity breeds insecurity. Learn your lesson and STOP.

And don't try and run away from people and live your life in a little sanctuary outside of town, that doesn't work, like that little village I slaughtered for the sake of a road. The people you are failing to reach in town, will just be born as your children, and if you;re not willing to teach them there, what makes you think they are going to learn to be better people in your tiny little fence? A little personal time with you? You had that time, in the town you were born, and you wasted it standing by a fucking fire, stuffing your fat fucking face with pie while not saying a word to your kid. Only teaching them that they should run and hide in tiny little areas like you, as if that's going to save any one from a reset.

And thats another thing, YOU CAN'T FUCKING WIN. Someone that died in a previous family, who was intent on killing yours, is just going to be born a child of yours, they're going to get permission and open your gate, or remove it entirely, and you're going to be fucked, REGARDLESS of what you do to stop it, so why not just live without the fences and the walls?

I, made the walls of the 2x3 and 4x4 because I realize YOU work a little harder when you think something is safe, but nothing is safe in this game from people who communicate outside of it. It only takes two people to wreck an entire town, one on the inside, misleading people, and one on the outside, leading a few others.

Why, do I even, bother?

Because I really do care. I do. I'm not roleplaying when I tell you I love you, I really do love you. I'm not some cock with a wife who plays video games to vent his frustration, someone who doesn't have any need for love because they got theirs, and I'm not some kid trying to make a name for himself on a scoreboard with a killstreak. I'm a retired astronomy teacher who's spent three quarters of his life looking elsewhere for the greatest stuff in the Universe, only to realize the best thing I'll ever know, is right here on Earth. It's you. That's why I love you so much I have to say it every chance I get. Before anything else, pulls us apart. In that moment, that I can say a four letter word, the only thing I can ever think to say is love.
(But before that it, it's usually TYMA, but that doesn't really count, it's three words, abbreviated. You know, it's for all the things you did for me... it doesn't count as a four letter word.)
What counts, is, LOVE.

Genetics are fine and all, but genetics alone didn't turn reptiles into mammals or apes into people, what brought us this far, REALLY, was, love.

And if we're to get any farther, we're really gonna have to step it up. If you're a young man, you might think this fairly unmanly, as you are bombarded by media telling you you should look up to badass fighters and people with big guns, but trust me, that's a bunch of bullshit concocted by people who either want your money, your service in their military and as much more out of you as they can get. They are exploiting primitive, vestigial, chemistry-

I have to go. I'm tired, and part of me doesn't even want to send this message, lucky for you a better part does.

Take this for what it's worth, to the future.

Am I the "you" in this? I NEVER make swords like ever. War was just declared and I declared peace fifteen minutes later. I always take care of my kids even if I don't say a word to them. I leave them by a fire and check in with them if no adult is feeding them. The problem isn't soley neglect, Theres just a lot of players who don't know what the fuck to do so they think screwing people up is fun. I rush tech because I am in a battle against time. I need to rush as many engines so I can keep the arc alive. So people can make more beautiful things, and so iron isn't scarce like th eight day arc which I almost blew my head of off. I rush tech so I supply towns like NE town with iron, so its people prosper regardless if their a no relation or a distant relative. I value the World more than anything, so the progress can be built upon and so we can live in harmony. I REALLY want Cass and (dupee) to beat the record, So I will continue supplying the rift and making sure it doesn't die. I love the world and by default every one in it.

I like twisted's idea in his most recent video that we should be able to make higher tech crafting stations so no hungry work is taken and things like flat stones when you forge on them costs hungry work. This could also work with the adobe oven. Great idea!!

This would be solved if you allow tech for us to escape the rift.

I see a lot of people complaining how theres nothing to do post diesal and although some times its true, more often than not theres tons of jobs open post diesal that can be filled Here are some that I recommend some of you try.

Engine Makers - Engines might be the most important thing to create post diesal for many reasons, One its vital for the creation of at least one after the Diesal pump. Your village is counting on iron that veins will no longer provide late game. Its up to you to make those iron mines to supply your town! More often than not those engines will get wasted and turned into cars so making multiple will never hurt your town. If you don't know how to make one I highly Suggest you learn how and making your first engine, and once you do it with no help it is so satisfying and amazing you will enjoy.

Iron Refiners and Chisel makers- This goes hand in hand with the first job Once that engine for the iron is created, it will need a steady supply of chisels for it too work efficiently. Once that engine starts, you will need to start refining iron, because trust me, theres going to be a lot.

Oil Refiners- Oil is extremely important not just for water, but for the iron as well. Its your job to make you have multiple jugs of kerosene and you know your towns oil source. If your town is still trying to find a tarry spot or the other one got exhausted, its your job to find and build on another tarry spot until Oil can be extracted from it. Without oil a town will die within hours once Water supplies dwindle and iron is gone. Highly important job! ( If you have multiple jugs of kerosene next thing would to be build storage boxes next to the diesal pump for storing the oil!)

Exotic/Reg Chefs: While this job may not be as important as some above, it still holds important value in villages and will be highly appreciated by yum fanatics! This job will not only boost birth rates in your village,  but it will reduce overall food consumption of your village further improving your villages work haul.(Ice cream, Bean Tacos, Bean burritos, Pork tacos, Carnitas, Variant pies, Cooked mutton, Potato chips, Tortilla, Salsa, Ketchup

Primitive Exotic Chefs: While the one above may be interwined with the one above these foods you make are usually seen in early villages and are not made after getting advanced as often but are still made sometimes in bulk. Examples Are Omelettes, Goose, (rabbit), Turkey, Bananas ( Wild Fruits and veggies).

Berry sustainers: An obvious job  that should not take long and is often paired up with carrot farmer and compost.

Exotic Farmers/Reg farmers: The foundation of a village relies on these folks who grow Vegatables and fruits not needed as a primary source but will greatly aid Yum variety/development. Some of the best yum chains are laid on the foundation of these people. Ex. Tomatoes, Onions, Green beans (edible version), Corn, Dried corn (popcorn) Milk, skim milk, butter, potatoes.

Pig and Cow farmer: Not seen that often an is usually a rare occurrence but also serve as a great boost to yum foods and dyeing clothes as well as plaster walls.

Cotton Clothing makers: Are tied closely to compost makers and will feed sheep for wool that they will make to cloth many people. This job is important because cotton clothing is perm opposed to animal hide that will decay after a couple of hours. This job will help reduce Food consumption and boost birth rates by helping keep the village warm. Also paired With fashion jobs such as Alum finders to help make your clothes stylish!( People who dye clothing for fashion are interloped with this job)

Recreational Parks and Monumental Graveyards: This is a great job to beautify your city and make it stand out from the other villages. Throughout the elaborate grave sites and parks, Your city will be remembered among future generations and will serve as an attraction and will be remembered through its beautiful parks. This helps prevent the Samey feel in almost every family post diesel and draws on the inspiration of the players of how the park will be layed out.

Road makers: This job is important to keep track of important sights, like a path to oil or serve to organize your village but its sadly pushed out of the way because flat rocks are pretty limited in the rift. This job is still important though and a common solution to this is to space out the rocks to still make out a trail.

Traders: This job is only through a limited time and only occur through rp, Forced slavery or lack of a resource. If your town lacks oil but has an iron mine a common trade deal would be four baskets of iron for a full kerosene tank. Most trade deals occur through only related villages because no relations are very hard to understand and may be hostile.

Foresters: Great late game when tree supplies start to falter. Your town will need a steady supply of kindling and fire wood which can be acquired by planting Pine and Maple for branches.

Theres probably more but I hope some may try these jobs whenever they feel bored of their current circumstance post diesal.

War is currently negated by the fact people never declare war and only peace, neutrality was a great addition preventing random mass murder but currently the state of the game is permanent "peace", war swords right now are nothing but bag trinkets. They need to be a symbol of power that wards off small war parties from starting attacks. Rather than a sign of potential danger, but only if somewhere two old people declare war.

Just need one old person to declare war the first time if peace hasn't been declared.

Wondible, if you have 2/20 females (10%) and the other fam has 18/20 females (90%), and both fams have one women step on a snake, we get:

1/18 (5.5%) vs 17/18 (94%)

So that looks really bad to me.

Of course, with more females around, the bigger family would have more chance of stepping on snakes, etc.  The smaller fam just had 50% of their females step on a snake.  This is assuming the risk of stepping on a snake is defined per-person.  The bigger family has 9x more chance of having SOMEONE step on one.

Now, take the same two fams again, and have only the smaller fam step on a snake:  We now have:

1/19 (5.2%) vs 18/19 (94.7%)

One question:  would the larger fam have more chance of high warmth and YUM fertility bonuses than a small fam?

Whenever I play into a family with one female, She either pumps out babies like crazy, or pumps out a boy then stops. There needs to be more of a consistency. Maybe the server will know when a family is almost out of girls and prioritizes babies their?

Making engines docked to iron mines is a solution but not the most interesting one.

Ideally you could remove all engine sources (water pump, car, plane, mine), you could see behind trees and there would be no possibility to building grief (with ancient walls/bell base), also containing engines in carts or chests/locked chests not too sure about this one.

This would be much more interesting, engines would become something valuable that you have to protect and can be stolen between families and villages but that you could get back.

Engines would travel between civilisations and we would fight or trade over it.

If engines are simply docked to the mine then it's over, nothing more interesting will happen.

But yeah currently way too easy to grief.

Its never, ever ever traded, ever. The only way they travel between families is if someone steals it and puts it in a well where its gone forever. Its already valuable, that's why I made seven of them. Engines travelling was only ever trouble because they can be greifed so fast. It doesn't take a smart allack to find one. Like I said, one can easily put an engine in a well with no one in the town. Therefore the engine is greifed with its sole purpose for mining stripped from it. And what do you mean not interesting? Having a new job of extracting iron and having it become a core source of resources in a village is more than interesting, that's more interesting then it being constantly stolen which isn't fun its repetitive and frustrating.

Did you read my post?

Yes that's why I posted. Why would someone trade engines anyways? there too valuable to be traded and it requires player honesty a thing greifers can easily exploit. And engines being pulled out of wells would be so bad since they can just be hidden across the world or taken out every five minutes like the mine, Its not ideal unless you want to go on a scavenger hunt.
