I just had goose cult twins grief my camp, of course I shot one of them but then while I was on cooldown they ran somewhere, and the other came with arrows. She wanted to shoot me but missed and killed some random girl instead. Then she died from starvation. They also hid our axe because "its used to kill goose!!!"...

me : http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=2697032 I think the family Is dead now but I lived a pretty ok life.  Death to goose cult.

Go into the sound files. I assume it makes the sound #1637. Basically a low pitched bell followed by a higher pitched bell. I don't know if that's the sound it makes in between stages, or if it happens when it's done. I imagine the former, since Jason did mention there were worldwide warnings for the monument.

Thank you!

No please teach new players about other food than berry... one time I was in a big town and as soon as my child got old enough to pick things up she started eating berrys. Soon there was none and as she stood in berry bush she said "f" I ran to her with a pie but she starved... right next to the bakery

Im actually the guy who made that "arena"

Proof:

1st life: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ … 1594371612 Was thinking on making town centers to encourage more interactions between players

2nd life: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ … 1612759104 Started building walls to make a nursery

3rd life: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ … 1612756503 Edit: Finished the build itself with the doors

4th life: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ … 1612757558 Edit: had to fix the walls around the newcomen pump cause it was colliding weird and put down roads leading to it

It was definitely a fun experience, and the fact no one locked those doors is very shocking to me but welcoming none the less.

Also: During my first life i was named queen and my daughter was having trouble with giving me a heir, however just as i was handing over the crown she had a girl! We were both pretty surprised but thankful in the end.

Woah! You did a great job on it, I always try to make buildings myself but in many of my lives there is too much drama, or people not doing basic jobs (compost, baking, forging) so I often dont get enough time for that.

#187 Re: Main Forum » Arena town revived! » 2019-01-02 10:05:00

I looked at the family tree and some of my people got murdered by another eve fam. rip.

#188 Re: Main Forum » Arena town revived! » 2019-01-02 02:02:29

Awww! Hoped It would survive throught the night, I wanted to come back there and do more stuff for the town:(  As I was still lineage banned from my family I heard the bell ring but It was waay too far to go there (9km,12km)

I actually wasn't in this town before, just heard that there's a town with an arena for pvp practice. A shame so many bears lived near it, so people lured them in.

Edit: Just checked on family tree and they're still going! My gay fam is so strong Im proud!!!

#189 Re: Main Forum » Bot Players - Allowed or Bannable? » 2019-01-02 01:33:53

creepy! If I met a person like that I would ask them to stop and do their job, and if they don't listen I'll just tell people around town that they're a griefer that's only eating food and not doing anything. Then stab 'em.

I think Jason said bot's are okay just don't use more than one, but It was a bit long ago and to a specific guy so idk. There also was an idiot on forum making threads about bots to get out of donkey town - he got banned from forums but I think that's because he was rude to everyone.

Jason actually started an active thread in this forum just before the latest release - requesting feedback on the eve-chaining issue.

What I find especially upsetting though, is that he didn't listen.  A bunch of us chimed in about the fact that we like re-discovering old cities, and his only comment was, "endgame cities make players feel listless."  Which given a bunch of us had just said we like that aspect of gameplay... is totally dismissive.

Instead he pushed out eve-spawning into the wilderness even harder than anyone thought he would, and released a re-hash of the apocalypse idea with a new *incentive* for killing people.  Ugh.  I've seen a lot more blatantly evil behavior the past few days.  It's like griefers have been given permission to grief by the dev, which, Oh, I guess they have.

Im only still playing cause I like roleplaying - passing down crowns, telling my mom that I love her, etc etc.

I agree with what you said and It's really upsetting. Im not lazy and I like staying and helping in an undeveloped camp, but It's the cities that bring back most of my memories. Yesterday I spawned in a city that lived like two weeks ago and my mom was eve. I saw the berry field - where an old woman was obssesed with bushes, the forge - where I got stabbed for throwing snowballs and annoying people (lol) , and a church! When I was there a week ago It was still being built, but It looked so beautiful now. I planted some roses in it to honour the workers.

#192 Re: Main Forum » Anti-Suggestions: » 2019-01-01 02:32:21

Eves not spawning in towns after they live to sixty -

It feels lonely when In a town there's only you and your family. I wish there were strangers too, people not related to me. I know an eve spawning right in the middle of town might not be realistic lol - but having everyone in town be either your uncle/aunt/cousin is much worse. One of my most favourite players stopped playing because of this update... I feel that there should be some reward from living to sixty, like maybe lineage ban wouldn't affect you and you could get reborn to your fam so you can keep it going.

#193 Re: Main Forum » One City Server » 2018-12-31 15:32:59

I played there with my friend who is new, taught them some things big_smile Also painted two of your walls north, the red ones. Lovely town

#194 Re: Main Forum » Is endstone a real belief? » 2018-12-30 02:44:14

No.

heres Jason's statement on it http://onehouronelife.com/newsPage.php , I'll copy it here too :

"In last week's update, I talked about how there will be no magic in the game. What I meant to say is that there will be no non-inherent magic.

Some things about the game are inescapably magic. Reincarnation---a reality for any commercially viable game---is the prime example of this.

But the map itself, and the servers, and how they get set up, and how they get updated, and how they get cleared, is another example. I'm doing all this stuff behind the scenes to keep things updated and working. I'm making choices. I'm adding things. I'm in control of the parameters that control when and how certain parts of the map go back to their natural state.

And the map is huge---unnaturally huge. 36,000x larger than the surface area of the earth. Walking from one edge to the other in the game would take you 34 years of real-life time. Walking around to visually see the entire map would take you 14 billion years.

It's a big map. Mind-mindbogglingly so. Yet I can change the entire thing with the push of a button, like when I add a new biome, or wipe it back to its natural state in the blink of an eye. How can something so big be changed so fast? Through procedural generation and the properties of computer file systems (where deleting data of length N is a constant time operation on N). It's not magic, really.

But when we try to square these possibilities with a simulation of the real world, the end results are nothing short of miraculous.

And what does that make me, the guy pushing the buttons behind the scenes?

There's an amazing idea lurking in this game, and credit for the idea goes to Edmund McMillen. When I visited him a few years ago, in between petting his hairless cat and having him kick my ass in a Magic draft, I told him about the game I was working on. In a game that starts back at zero as a premise, a question arises: how did we get to zero in the first place? And what if, Edmund suggested, players were in control of taking everything back to zero? What if, at the top of the tech tree, the most difficult-to-craft item was The Button?

It seems that, after all is said and done in this game, after all my updates are out, and the game stops evolving due to developer input, this just has to be the way that it will work. Otherwise the game will stagnate. Edmund was right.

But what about along the way? In the arms race of player progress in the face of my weekly updates, players always win.

So, the idea of an along-the-way apocalypse arose. What if The Button was a moving target? Some item at the top of the current tech tree that represented the current endgame?

The problem here is that players can get to the top of the tech tree ridiculously fast.

This means that the apocalyptic item can't be technological. It needs to be magic in some way.

Long ago, shortly after the game's release in early 2018, I tried something like this. A monolith in the desert that you could use to conduct a kind of absurd ritual using a bit of material that was high-level tech at the time. This experiment was an utter failure, as the first apocalypse was triggered four hours after the update, and subsequent apocalypses were triggered hourly after that until I gave up and disabled the whole system.

I left that failed experiment behind, without thinking about it any further. Players can get through the tech tree---and craft any imaginable thing---way too fast. This even planted seeds of doubt in my mind about Edmund's Button, even at the end of the update process, once the tech tree was gigantic.

Still, I really liked the shared collective event that had occurred. People who were playing that fateful day will never forget that flash of white...

In the mean time, other ideas surfaced, like the bell tower, which involved slowing down player progress toward a goal and ensuring trans-generational cooperation. A bell tower takes 18 hours to build. In order to build it, your village has to survive that long.

This takes a page from the Clock of the Long Now.

The insight this week was that these two ideas can be combined. An apocalypse, for the time being, is a magical, not technological event. So there's a ritual. What if it was a very slow ritual? What if people had plenty of opportunity---and warning---to interrupt the ritual before completion?

That was always the idea with Edmund's Button anyway---that people would be fighting to stop it along the way."

tl;dr game needs resets when we're at the top of tech tree , jason is our god, apocalypse is a LOT harder to do now.

Also dont worry It will take weeks maybe more If people even manage to do it (which I doubt)

The name of each child was the name of the tree.

Did the eve get killed? Might be me If you're talking about a recent life - I was eve Tree

Semi-New player here, bought the game to play over Christmas after seeing some of Twisted's videos and have been playing a fair bit since. After reading through this thread, I do not even feel like playing anymore. What even? Similarly this is combination with griefers at almost EVERY single medium - large sized village makes the appeal of the game turn . very quickly in to frustration, hours of frustration.

Honestly, the death of eve chaining was a bigger hit than the ability to have the chance of activating the apocalypse. I've probably spent 6-8 hours since the update attempting to put together a tier two (I'm not even at the point of looking at activating just trying to see the server wide warning) and we can't even get that far. Don't get me wrong, the six hours is a good thing in my eyes but being able to dismantle it so easy or just never seeing the village again kills any chance at seeing it.

What is dramatic about stacking some blocks? What is exciting about blind siding a baby loading into the game for a stone? Where is the reward for playing well?

My best memories of this game comes from the experiences I've had in the CITIES of the game not from the random families as they come and go within a blink.

I miss you showing up into towns already sad

Id always run to you as a baby (and annoy my mom rip) and say stuff like "hi tarr ily". I know that when I see you my life's gonna be fun - last ones I had with you were pretty memorable - I played as Woodley, Gio (two times, different surnames), Killian and Godwin. Im also the kid asking you If youre tarr when you don't pick your usual surname haha,,

Yesterday when you - by some miracle - spawned as eve into town, I was your first baby boy ! Thanks for showing me the apocalypse room, I made sure nobody got in it and I was a guard. Wish I was a girl tho so I could name my babies Ree.

One small thing. IF you stab a griefer, don't run away. Just state why you stabbed them during the cool down. If I see someone stab and run out of town immediately it's like they don't want to be caught, don't want you to see their name. If you stab and run away, I'm likely to curse you. I will run up and ask why before I curse, and if you don't respond, I curse.

Secondly, I don't think murder is a good punishment. You want to send them to donkey town ideally. If you murder they just go to another town and carry on stupid stuff. If town has enough people, raise awareness, get everyone to curse.

Just had a life where I met a dumb griefer like that,

I saw a girl running back to city with an arrow in her chest, I ran to the direction she came from and looked for the person who shot her, so I could stop them and no more ppl would get killed. Before pulling my knife out, I asked "why did you do this?" I gave them a few seconds but got no anserw, they just kept running. So I pulled my knife out and stabbed them.

Like an idiot the person kept running then once realizing I stabbed them came back to me and said "Ffs it was mistake" Oh really? In the middle of a forest, with no people near, just you and the girl you shot?

I would curse them but already met a griefer in past life so they got lucky. Rip shot girl - looking at the fam tree her last words were big oof.
