Then make it secret, just viewable on the family tree. Takes away the desire to use it for goofy reasons.

An item that takes written paper and saves them for after game viewing. The auto-generated paper would have lists of births and deaths of the family of the person who crafter the printing press, items submitted as notes, and screen shots taken at the time of murders, a random selection of birth photos. A random selection of photos taken when doors were placed. etc.

Many of my ideas have to do with providing some kind of game summary. Maybe I'll just try taking some screens and writing up a game or two here. There is always a "but what happened???" feeling from this game.

Family tree helps, wish there were more tools.

How do you get the soil in there? How do you keep it watered?

Just imagine how nice it could be.

You could sit around a nice warm fire with your kids, wearing your grandmas face and telling stories, while feeding them one of their brothers.
Or maybe a person who you really liked died and you are sad, so you eat him/her, this way you can be together forever. He/She will always be inside you and there will be nothing that can separate you two.

Uh.... you ok?

#1455 Re: Main Forum » [Idea] The Hannibal Update » 2019-02-28 16:30:40

This is the kind of thing that should be a mod. I have little desire to play with such conditions, but it could make for some funny videos.

#1457 Re: Main Forum » Curse? How about *bless* » 2019-02-28 16:28:33

What if "bless" offered no advantages? What if it just showed up in the family tree?

The running mommy
Eve who carries you and just runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs. Runs by wild onions. Runs by a burdock next to a round stone and rock. Stops to eat nannas.

Says she's "looking for a good spot" but runs by a perfect spot with green, water, tons of burdock, rabbits and good trees. You are like "GOD" "SPT" but she ignores you and wastes pips feeding you too often.

Stops and eats at a berry bush in the middle of nowhere. Dies running. Then you die.
MAXIUM TIME WASTED WAITING TO PLAY (this has happened more than once...)

OMG yes. I had a player who was like "NO" when I was laying out a farm. I was like "why?" all she would say was "NO"

Each life you get a little token, kind of like a curse, but you can say "bless so-and-so"  one or two times in your life and then when you look back on your lives you can see how many blessings you got. That might be enough, just a way to know that you helped and to let others know without slowing them down for a long conversation.

But it could be more fancy...

If you save up 5 blessing you get something small maybe the option to choose if you are born as Eve or not. Or maybe you have a little tattoo of a heart, so people can be like "wow this one is blessed!"

The blessings should only cary on for a short time, though. So, it's not just something every experienced players has. The blessed tattoo means in the past two day you got 5 or maybe 10 people to bless you.  It should be pretty rare, to be balanced.

Also, perhaps 3 blessing could remove a curse but IDK about that. It could help when you curse by mistake (because you saw them with a knife and didn't understand they killed the greifer, for example. )

#1460 Re: Main Forum » What do you want added in the game? » 2019-02-28 16:09:06

Agree on the eggs, in established towns I treat them like trash and take them out of town

I'd like
-stack carrots
-empty a bowl of wheat
-put more kinds of bowls in carts (crushed wheat, roasted palm etc.)

Vow of Poverty
Pretend to be a monk or nun committed to a vow of poverty. You must never have a totally full hunger bar and may only wear rags. Tell people about it when you give them nice clothes and fancy foods you make or find.

Aprentice
Find someone working the farm, forge, building, whatever and say you have been sent to be their apprentice. Bring your instructor food, and be helpful.

Baby Snatcher
(controversial) If the town has too many babies bopping in the nursery like bowling pins steal one even if you are a guy and raise it in the wilds while telling the child tales of the great coming famine and how you two will survive it.

Rag and Bone Woman/Man
Get a cart and go around saying "bring out yer dead!" remove bones from town and find clothes and tools in the wilds. Dress the younguns

Cain and Able
Be a woman and name your sons Cain and Able, make Cain hunt and do sheep, teach Able to farm. Constantly fret about murder.

Pioneers
When it is late at night and the number of players drops off if you are in a decent village pack some carts and voyage off with a few others to found a new town.

Top Chef
Be bossy in the bakery or stew zone. Tell everyone to get out. Cooking is an art. You are top chef, bake and cook impressively to justify your bossy self.

Yaaaaas stacking. When we can stack carrots I will cry. But limestone is good.

#1463 Re: Main Forum » Girl shortage? » 2019-02-27 12:26:08

Women have put babies on our backs for thousands of years. Why can't a baby go in the backpack and take up all 4 slots?

Naturally few people are all one type all the time, these are just some styles I noticed.

Efficiency Jack
Immersion? pffffft. This player would like the game just as much if it were like Dwarf Fortress, or if it were a spreadsheet. This player will produce so much food, tools and resources you can't really hate them when they yell at you for making the "wrong" choice.

Grumpy Old Woman/Man
Telling yarns to the young ones, and yelling at everyone, this player is useful if they are spreading information about what needs to be done around town. Good job for a bone collector, or someone who just cleans the place up. The cleaning probably is what causes the grumpyness and the constant yelling "stop eating berries and go find some straight shafts!"

Efficiency Jack, the Wordless
Moving at the speed of sound since this player uses the zoom mod, this player dies at 60 of old age and their last word is "F"

Drama Drama Drama
Murder, mysteries, secrets, plotting, this player wants nothing more than for you to join in their elaborate ruse. A borderline greifer at worst, a person who gives the game more meaning at best.

Who have you known?

#1465 Re: Main Forum » Iffy lineage errors and occurances? » 2019-02-27 07:13:20

So, I died at 60 of old age (after annoying everyone playing "the bone lady, I'm here for your bones!")

And it's been about 15 min... but my mom... is ... *still alive* ??? How?

Are there any good videos of the stew farm? I only vaguely know what's going on with that. I try to bring soil and a bucket of water because I don't know what is needed there.

#1467 Re: Main Forum » Smith building up village on Server 5 » 2019-02-26 05:29:46

This is why I love this game. Shoulda taken a screen!

You are Eve's only daughter and you collet milkweed as fast as you can alone before you have a baby. Your first son makes a rabbit snare (when you have no fire bow drill) takes your basket and wanders off at age 5 to die.

OMG

Describe your perfect moments of exasperation.

#1469 Re: Main Forum » Finally experienced donkey town. » 2019-02-26 01:47:30

No one is going to post a photo? Do I really have to go evil to find out? I don't have that in me!

This is a cool idea. I'd say it should probably be much higher on the tech tree than knives, though, probably more like a bell tower (or maybe the bell tower is the thing itself).

Use a knife on a bears caracas a 2nd time for a "bear's eye"
Put the eye in a sand bowl. Add molten gold to cast a "gold eye"
Add the "gold eye" to the bell for "bell with all-seeing eye"

It takes a photo when the bell is rung.

I'd also say that no one should have access to the time-lapse (or whatever) until the lineage dies out: this would both incentivize longer lineages ("oh sweet! this place has a watchtower! the longer we live the more we'll get to see!")

Agree!

6 piles of compost
12 pies
fruit boots
a shovel

in one life. etc.

#1472 Re: Main Forum » Baby griefers » 2019-02-26 01:35:40

Locked in? maybe add cannibalism to the game. We could role play the Donner party in an ice biome.

#1473 Re: Main Forum » Finally experienced donkey town. » 2019-02-25 19:24:33

Really want to see a video or some screenshots. LOL.

A similar idea would be to have some kind of totem or archive that permanently stores whatever notes are fed into it, and the whole archive is readable upon lineage end. Not the same, of course, and maybe they'll be full of nothing but spam notes, but it could be cool.

Call it a time capsule. Feed notes, are notes are consumed?
