Iron being so scarse and the fact that most of the people dont roam for resourses leaves the few capable players required to smith, make compost, roam for iron, roam for sheep, roam for rope. It´s just too much for one persons shoulders. Like if you roam for iron then theres no one to make the tools needed. Most dont even roam for rope and just waste 4 soil plots to get one. Literally one persons whole lifespan worth of food instead a 5min roam outside of the town safety.

People learn to go nomad. Pick a sharp stone, make a home mark with skever. Run out of town. --->water biome-->basket-->fill the basket with wild goodies-->knock a seal-->wear its skin-->pick some rope-->make a reed skirt-->pick some iron -->profit a blooming town with capabilities and resources to go in to the infinity.

Sharp stone op, nerf it pls.

Some settlements I will be the only one who ranges outside town and often the only one who will range far. There is much less iron and many less veins, I usually can find some but I haven't seen any iron deposits in a few days, only surface iron

I ran out into a snow field and stood there until I died after trying to get replacement tools forged. I forgot what a royal pain having forge close to main fire was and tried to work through it, not a hope...

That it lasted so many generations is awesome, makes the early chaos seem worthwhile. Some of the kids must have been good players to keep all the half started projects going and finish off the essentials!

Get the mod multi, it is vital right now with every one vet being outnumbered at least by a factor of 10. I can't imagine the pain of trying to hold this chaos together without it tbh at the moment!

#105 Re: Main Forum » I'm trying! » 2018-11-15 23:53:03

What a night... got compost going, from scratch ofc.. one guy says "dont pick carrots we need seeds" which would be fair enough if there wasn't 50 just by the forge big_smile saw a griefer interfere with a forge trying to get first tools, I mean wtf? How miserable do you have to be to grief what is basically an eve camp? couldn't find knife and was old already. no bow in sight or I'd have fixed them wink Saw camps with zero water or food for miles..

But then, taught a few basic bits here and there, had plenty of nubs ask for help. I knew it was going to be rough but it's still great smile
I feel like I've done another day's work..

'I am mom' best line to date for an eve haha

Born to a an unnamed eve she named me.... when i could finally say a few characters i told her: mom, name, your, self, say, I am
So yes my mom became... eve mom ! lol
Got most things underway and made pen, not sure the nubs new how to get the sheep or setup new farms, looks grim right now...

New life, new semi ruined camp. Mom is again a nub but that's not the issue as there is already some infrastructure in place.. the issue is they're building in a an area of 1 pond and that's it for a long way.. I made them some baskets as they had none and took one setting off in wilderness to find other camps.. lot harder right now to find other camps as most only last a few gens. found evidence of 2 eve spawns but no one in sight in 20 minutes so called it a day. Headed in again, wish me luck!

A baker makes mutton pies, sometimes rabbit ones and sometimes bread. An experienced baker also makes berry, carrot, berry carrot, rabbit carrot, rabbit berry carrot as well but this is of course dependent on the berry and carrots being done well wink oh and buttered bread! This is without including cooking mutton on the oven, also doable! - Variety = calorie bonus, calorie bonus = less food eaten and longer periods between meals. Only nubs sit in the berry fields like locusts. Glad you enjoyed it so far, expect the worst from your fellow new players, try to teach them the best!

I want to correct a misconception here before it spreads any further.

The size of the berry farm has NO BEARING ON HOW MUCH DIRT AND WATER IT USES.

Yes, there is an initial investment in dirt and water for creating each berry plot. But the size of the berry farm has no bearing, absolutely none, on the amount of additional dirt and water it uses. As long as one berry remains on the bush, the bush will NEVER need water or dirt again. Until the berry bush has been completely stripped, it will NOT have any additional drain on your dirt or water. But once it's been stripped, THEN it needs to have dirt placed and be watered.

#109 Re: Main Forum » Is the drama gone? » 2018-10-31 17:39:46

Really torn on this. Curse free would see them cause complete chaos, not just a little drama. Evidence for this are the 2 griefers who believed their curse count was too low for Donkey town and laughed as they spouted 'I'm nowhere near donkey town' so we made sure as a camp that's exactly where they went. As happynova states we still have drama in near every camp, it's just not non stop drama now, but it surely is still there. If you wanted to make it say one person on a server at any one time as antagonist then sure give it a try but if you lose donkey town and go back, we;ll go back to having aggro in every lifetime.

I do understand the 'drama can be fun' thought but I'd prefer a tiny number of antagonists over removing donkey town, at least it won't see every family have griefers all over again..

tbh if i see my eve is bad/noob, i especially want to stay and teach her. I can understand inexperienced players suiciding on those conditions, but as a seasoned one, i feel it's kind of my duty to stay and try to help... even if it fails, if i taught only a couple of things to a new player i'll be happy.

Me too! I love challenges and the early camps are the best for that right now. If I can help an eve, especially if she helps with basics, I'm there to the end doing my best to make it a success. Similarly having experienced kids in gen 2 as an eve myself I love seeing a camp come together. I also don't mind helping fix problems like lack of buckets, no iron to be found, missing vital tools like a file or lack of medic supplies will all see me tear into them to 'fix' the issue.

Big towns attract lazy fuckers who simply sponge, usually while 'rping' or simply seeking attention. I'm not always going to stay in them and may set off to live a solitary life or find another settlement.

Found a decent spot with tiny desert patch and some six ponds by green biome (abandoned 2 kids before simon, sorry kids) then Simon came along and I kept him. It wasn't perfect for food, the swamp had a lot of boars not far away but I'd run a long way so I'd settled and got the kiln up. Simon was a great kid getting on with tons of jobs that just made my life easier and with Cassie coming along I had Simon sorting tools while Cassie worked on the initial farms.

Cassie was great with food which meant I could bring in Iron and report on on other findings nearby whilst dropping off baskets of resources or making the bellows and getting the clay for our all our bowls and plates. My great kids to put to all to good use. I lived a full 60 at our little camp and it was doing famously when I left after my 60 years, but I see the line dies out generation 6 after the only  female managed to starve aged 35 somehow. Anyway no regrets, what a great little team we had, one of the most peaceful and teamwork orientated groups I've had as an eve. Ty Simon and Cassie and my wonderful grandkids.

Next came bob town - always lots of stabbings in this one today and this birth was no different. Mom and I returned home to it as I was born in the wilderness and on arrival found my big brother had been killed by someone.. the story that eventually came out was someone killed him for unknown reasons, my mom killed the killer, then she was in turn killed for doing it and she said to me "kill her for me daughter" so obviously, I did. No one kills my mom!

Later I had a litter of my own kids and only one turned out to be the ignorant type who doesn't think they need to talk and then suddenly wakes up minutes later when you dump him in the wilderness. His little 'F, Y' bought him the finishing blow and the town remained peaceful thereafter apart from a bear incursion. Made pads and needle plus threads but even then people would stand miles away after being bitten instead of coming to get healed.. anyway This story has a quirk....
When I was v little a man staggered into town after being bear mauled and says 'cart SW near bears'.. I've been too busy sorting out the mess of a settlement and we have it looking in good shape when a little boy is dumped in town by his mom and sits crying for F in the berries, I rush over and make sure he's fed until big but then later he asks me to follow him. We trek SW dodging the bears and find the cart! He's the guy from earlier born back in and we finally get the legendary cart back. An eventful session of murders, Fabled cart brought home and oh yeah... I had to search 3 screens from home to get tinder and race back as keeping a fire lit is apparently always someone else's job!

I would like irrigation of some sort, perhaps via cisterns to give them a use? I don't mind if it means building pipes etc too. Cisterns are actually a great thing already mind you if used correctly by filling them from wells and then letting the wells recover while you use the cisterns water stick but every new player just ignores them and empties the wells instead.

I came across exactly the same situation earlier but managed to pad the wounded kid and its mum stitched it up in time. As long as the mum is doing all the running about and working for the town who cares? As it was the kid came attentive right after this or reconnected whatever but long story short they survived and random bitter knifer ran away to die smile

Papoose would be a good start so mum can keep playing with baby attached.

After trying out all the 'ok - good' setups and just re-rolling awful ones I had a change of pace the other day and started playing every life I'm rolled. Have to sy the most fun ones have been those with poor setups or as an eve/1st gen when there is so much to do, plan and/or fix to give best chances of long lineages. The fact that with so many newer players few last more than a couple of generations is a bit of  shame but the actual gameplay in my 1 hour is very fun. Steam is going to be chaos but maybe that's where the best fun will be?

#117 Re: Main Forum » I just need to tell you how pissed I am about this before I go to bed » 2018-10-23 22:21:54

Saw an experienced player get blamed for killing all sheep in a town and cursed quite heavily for it earlier followed by killed and I don't personally think they did it or at least i'm unsure - i saw them arriving at pen as the deed was discovered but as a toddler not much I could say and the mob went into feeding frenzy. I say i'm not sure it was her as I saw her leading a lamb back to replace the sheep supply but someone else beat her to it.

And you think your session sucked!

I taught a guy this and iron mining start to finish apart from building a forge yesterday. From finding the iron when we also found the vein to setting up the mine and making a lot of tools but we still didn't cover locks, making the file (as we already had one) or planting a nearby maple farm to provide long term straight shaft supply. Just ask in game, I am always happy to help out teaching anything, a lot of people are, just ask smile

OMG!  That is an amazing story, and I'm glad I got to hear all of it, because apparently I missed the punchline!  I was your grandmother, Tulip, and Winston showed up right before I died.  I walked past him and suddenly did this comic double-take as I realized he wasn't anyone related to me.  He told me he was a drifter and had been born on the way to this town.  I had just enough time to welcome him and explain that my mom had spawned in as an Eve and that we were reviving the place, before I died.  So I never go to hear your story about having been his mom.  That is wild!

I wonder, now, if it was my mother who rang the bell, or if it was the last people who died out in that town before she arrived.

I fully believe it would have been your mom ringing the bell that we followed due to the timing of it. I remember talking to you too just before you passed on smile
