Hey Pein, I just want to say thanks for being such a great community member. You seem genuinely interested in helping others succeed. Even when you disagree with people you keep it respectful. We need more people like you.
I find it funny how me being honest makes people not wanna read my whole point as if thats a good excuse.
It's the condescending attitude that makes people stop reading.
Would be awesome if I could just say "I want to be born as a twin" and/or if it could just happen randomly by chance.
I kinda miss your point here. The system only makes sure everyone gets at least a few girls, and gives them in priority to older women.
Some people voiced concern that older women will get a flood of kids just as they can't feed them but I don't think that would be a concern because they will be more likely to get their share of girls when younger.
But about your other point, i kinda agree, but personally i'd be in favor of letting people decide if they spawn as eve or not.
I think choosing different game modes would be great but Jason seems to be against it, but that doesn't mean we have to stop suggesting it! Choosing things like Eve or generation range still provides the randomness of birth. People do this anyways via suicide so Jason really isn't preventing anything, just making it annoying for everyone involved. Either way, you will be born into a town with it's own problems to solve.
Kids should be eating berries, and adults should eat the mutton pie. None should eat the carrots.
Before I die I always go stand in the center of the town repeating stuff like this. Give it a try, it's awesome to see people stop by and hear your words. The up key is your friend.
I usually like to explain why too such as "Carrots are for compost, they are not to be eaten!" and "Don't eat pie as a kid, it's too filling and a waste."
I think the concerns about older women having more babies is mute since a scoring system will also ensure that same woman has more babies when she is younger thus dropping her score when she is older.
We should have less eves and favor being born into an existing line. Just keep filling a city with kids until it collapses or people get smart and start spreading out. That's how we evolved anyways, one line branching out, not multiple fish growing the same feet 5,000 miles apart.
Just craft a coat hanger. When you're holding it you can't have babies.
Would be just as great if signs weren't so expensive since many people won't pick up the paper and signs will be read by all.
Maybe if the first step of making a letter stock is to stab a straight shaft which gives unlimited letter stock. Making the letters is hard enough...
I also like the idea of painting signs since this is realistically stone age. Bonus for supporting glyphs like a picture of a bunny with an arrow.
I would actually prefer multiple home markers that I can name myself so I can tag spots. We probably have to wait 1 billion in game years until we invent GPS for that.
I don't really play on private servers because I prefer playing with random unknown people. I also like the variety we now have with hundreds of active players.
Some events could be really easy to implement like eve span point and immortality since simple settings already exist. Once a few events are setup it would be even easier as you can create new events based on a combination of different settings.
A kid won't get its mother's home marker unless the home marker is actually visible on the screen when the kid is born.
Oh. That's good to know but also sad too. Whats the point of having a home marker if you stay right next to it?
I like to leave messages near important things like dropping a "Seed and plant all crops, not just berries" note in the berry field and a "Don't sheer the last sheep or it won't make babies" in the sheep pen.
My favorite is leaving a "Curse Joe - He is a greifer" note in the town center.
I think it would be great if multiple people could use iron tools on people in the murder slowdown. For instance, if two people hit you with an ax and a hoe than you die or your slowdown is extended until you starve or someone else feeds you.
What if we had special short term day/week long events? I think this would be great to get people that got tired of the game to come back for the events. Events could be things like:
- All eves spawn at 0,0
- Everyone is born with a knife in their hand
- A day where you don't die except by starving/murder/animal
What special event would you like to see?
I like this but I imagine Jason will say no because it makes setting a home marker infinity easier. I've gotten lost looking for a sharp stone!
There does seem to be a bug where I set a home marker and my kids don't get it. Maybe if someone cuts mine down before I have a kid the kid won't get it?
Babies cant walk for the first year in OHOL mobile. IS this where the idea comes from? It works well it MOHOL
Really? Haven't played mobile yet (hour on my phone sounds stressing). Most suggestions have already been made or implemented in a fork.
i'm not sure it is "just like Jason wants
Jason is on the record in many places saying babies should be a nuisance. He rejected babies in carts for a long time for this reason saying "choose the baby or the cart". The community finally convinced him and he agreed to do it on reddit
Another reason I like this is it would stop suicide babies from running to the nearest bear cave and poking it. Most will just /die than wait.
I agree wholeheartedly, post this on the reddit so Jason sees this and considers actually implementing it.
I don't have reddit so if someone does please feel free to submit it. I think Jason reads most things here, reddit is great for the voting aspect which has influenced his decision in the past when lots of people clearly agree.
If babies can't walk until they are one it would make raising kids even more annoying, just like Jason wants.
Maybe that can be a good nerf to letting us put babies in carts/backpacks/tulas.
Do you know the one rule of fight club? That applies to this too.
Yes, and I should also be able to force feed you mushrooms in this condition so you go from "OMG I'm dying" to "OMG I'm tripping balls."
While (X>0 And Y < 6)
{
X--;
Y++;
}
Crafting is not coded in this game so that would be a one off hack of the core game engine. He would need to create objects and transitions of a+b=c+d for each possibility.
But I agree, still not THAT many possibilities that it's unreasonable to do.
I'd rather have to fill my bowls one by one than go through the mess that was having unusable bushes.
As lionon said, you should be able to use a bush in any state and it would only take the number of berries it needs or just partially fill the bowl. The combinations of this are extensive which is probably why Jason had it only working on full bushes.
Lets count the combinations:
Bush / Bowl
6 / 0 = 1 / 5
5 / 0 = 0 / 5
4 / 0 = 0 / 4
3 / 0 = 0 / 3
2 / 0 = 0 / 2
1 / 0 = 0 / 1
6 / 1 = 2 / 5
6 / 2 = 3 / 5
6 / 3 = 4 / ...
Ok, yah that's annoying and definitely why Jason didn't create them all. But he should!
I noticed some sheep in a pen with a dead bush. A few minutes later the sheep were gone. Maybe someone killed or released them or maybe sheep can pass through the dead bush. Not sure.
Since then, if I see a dead bush at a pen I remove it and plant another bush.
What if biomes were so large that moving across one to get resources from another was no small task?
- Every biome would be survivable using local resources, just like in real life.
- Establishing trade routes would be critical to reach the top of the tech tree in any town.
- You would need to adapt based on the biome instead of just repeating the same strategies.
- Every town would be unique with it's own limitations, benefits, and characteristics.
- To avoid all biome intersection towns, edges could contain less resources than the center so there is a trade off.
Maybe you hate it, maybe you love it, maybe you don't care but what do you think? What bullet points would you add?
