Mr Allcock is a pretty manly name right?
We could add Opium (adding poppy tears plant) while we are at it. Farm plant and harvest using knife and bowl. Four plants harvest a full bowl of poppy tears latex wich dehydrates after 30 seconds to become opium. Add milk to make a "happy milk" (edible? ) or add water and set it into coals to redux into happy powder wich can be directly snorted.
I have become bored of the game a bit. The game is too short to create much meaning. Also, family members don’t have unique qualities and traits. Apparently, it’s too much to update? Also, if I do run into a unique and compelling scenario..it’s over too quickly.
This game has many objects to craft and technological challenges which are much more important than character development (apparently).
I dunno. I’m sort of over it and I wish it wasn’t so.
Welcome to the group sir. However, you got that last part wrong: technological challenges are very few and also meaningless since the only real needed tech is engine for a water pump. There are many tech objets in the game but most of them are part of other objects that are just decorative.
F for CCM.

TRUE!
Simple to understand, there is no culture, in OHOL culture does not exist.Currently the community performs role plays with various rituals, sacrifices, crowns, etc ... but there is no mechanics in the game that accompanies this practice, they are only ROL games that some players have in their heads ... just that.
when these players die, these rituals, kings, sacrifices, etc also die ...
Currently when someone sees a "KING" in OHOL ... he does not see a real king ... he is seeing another player with a crown ... another player who deserves to die ... just that.
because there is nothing that grants anything special to that player ... it's just one more with a crown on top of his head ...because the sacrifices can not endure more than 2 generations as much?
because they do not contribute anything, it's just a role play in the minds of 2 or several people.I think something similar to some OHOL objects happens ... that nobody creates them because they do not contribute anything (an airplane, for example)
Jason has made it very clear that he does not like the ROL game.
But I think that distributing on the map some SUPER-OBJECTS such as: relics, amulets, magic objects ... etc .. (with purposes and with visible benefits !!!) will allow enriching the culture between generations, the battles to get unique objects, traditions, etc ...
I like that idea about super objets. I had thought something similar but in the line of crafting items and buildings, that could give special rewards to the town they are built in or kept.
I think this could never happen, because the servers can only support so many players. Maybe with a ticket system, otherwise a free demo could potentially collapse the servers.
What culture? Theres none. Theres more game culture outside the game (discord, forums) than "in" the game.
It doesn´t make any sense to me to add a score or reward system for a game about living a life and being part of something bigger. This breaks the self importance of each life. A reward system is a poor way to fake a bond to obtain a future benefit.

Gen 2 is the most important, even above the Eve. With a decent girl and a few males on gen 2 even the worst Eve has a chance to get a long line. BTW I checked on a low pop server and it took me seven lives to make it to a working car. I´m guessing I can make it in six because oil wasn´t on my side (took me like 10 pipes). Better players can definitively make it in six (can anybody make it alone in five?? idk...) and a decent group should be able to reach a gen 5 working engine with ease.
that seems quite high
i mean i didnt gather the iron but i was twice in a place
first life i made 3 cores without rubber
4 pistons (1 for newcommen multipurpose)
2 tanks and a distiller(without pipe)
and processed like 5 stacks of iron into steelsecond life i made around 5 rubebr plus left some buckets on the trees near the oven i made
completed the cores, and had some trouble placing the newcommen where i want, Spoonwood was fucking around with it so i stab him and got killed for it by a dumbfuck
i was like 50 and not fully focusing on just that
in 10 min i could of made the pulley drive and the attachments, maybe the pistons
i also made a fence near kilns, a cistern to store some water for the forgegenerally goes slower than that, but with all this prepwork, it was really just a matter of smashing down the items, so even if they distrub you or even as a woman, one extra life can do the trick
now if i do it from scratch and got to get sheep, mine, horse thats one life
so i cant see how takes longer than 4
even in donkey town where Baker and me were fuckign around 4 hours raising each other, chilling and making food, we were quite close to it in 4 hours
i guess if we share the work i would do the rubber parts and the oil, then with a decent smith and a gatherer can be done in 3 just hard to find 3 decent people during 2 straight lifes same place
It took me seven lives starting from scratch, no klin no basket no nothing.
I wasted time getting backpack/sheep/horse.
I added a small farm wich proved to be useless.
Lost a lot of time farming more milkweed than needed.
If I tried it again I would rush into cart faster with no bp and I would simply forget about sheep/horse, eating only rabbit pies and raw food. I also lost 10 minutes locating a decent place because the Eve spawning in server 15 was close to other people. Even then I think my spot wasn´t really good (my tarry spot and spring were not close enough).
Overall it was a nice first try, bare in min I lost about 10 min/ while Eve chaining, I am not a veteran and I was alone in the world. XD
However this can definitively be done way faster.
Really? first time in gen 2? You have been around like two months now, lel.

when i make roads, i start by making ten to fourty stakes, and place them in a line. its the proper order of operation.
i got murfered five times by now while doing that, and the murderer claimed i was griefing.also, just taking the flat stone from the forge, even while they have no iron, and enough steel and flat stone within fifty tiles, to build a road nearby, gets the whole city wanting to murder you forever instantly. they are just so insecure about their forge crap, just parroting each other, never moving more than onehundred tiles away from the big berry farm.
transporting a lot of food out of a messy overflowing kithen to fireplaces and forges (a great thing to do while younger than 12), gets many newbies to confuse you for a thief.
this is just nuts.
I don´t know what you are up to, but what you are saying is borderline trolling.
It is a big deal if you take the flat stones set in the forge zone to make a road. This is not about iron or not, just don´t pick stuff other people has gathered for your own convenience (that includes stones to make eggs, paper, tortillas or graves). If you want to make those, start by finding your own stones. If I take my time to find those stones to forge and set them in that zone I would certanly kill you if you start taking them. Don´t take stuff you didn´t gather if it has a purpose. Just don´t. How would you feel if I go and break your road to take the stones back? What if I just decide I don´t like your road and pick your stones to make a different road? How would you feel?
It is also a big deal if you make ten to forty stakes. Certanly not the order of operation. You don´t really need more than one to the same effect. Maybe use three stakes if you are working with someone but using ten is actually griefing. I would certainly stab you over that too.

a) Buildings are not a necessity for the game, but an aesthetic feature.
b) Pine panels are dead content because of the material costs, not because they are hard to make (unlike IRL).
If we are to model OHOL to real life, at least in terms of shelter being an absolute must for survival - how would you go about it?
Wonder if weather can be supported by the engine?
For me the direct approach is impossible. Shelters main use is to protect against day/night cycle and maybe predators. Day/ Night is not possible to model.
However there is an indirect approach. Make buildings enable certain tech. Example: normal oven only cooks rubber and mutton. Oven in a closed building allows for pies. Pretty sure every town would have a proper kitchen then.
Forge in a closed building allows for Newcommen Hammer. That would be dope, because you would actually have to make a building to advance in tech. Every town would have a proper forge place.
What about fire? Fire in a closed area could last double.
Women could increase theyr fertility rate in closed buidings.
But this isn´t going to happen. Jason´s view of the game is that we don´t need more stuff (And I actually agree), but for some reason he isn´t capable of making the stuff we have useful. Pine walls should hardly cost a thread to match the cost of a stone block.
This has already been said many times.

Implement a better rating system for players. At the moment you have only the curse system and this can also go in the wrong way, because missunderstandings of human beings.
The goal is to find griefers automated or half automated!
Record the players game on serversite, of course you need to limit this to some basic countings. It´s also wise to limit this to some few players.
Make a kind "EDO punishment zone." -> https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Punishment_zone
Of course you have no zone here, you have a player you will observe and punish, if he is doing bad things.
You can choose the player to observe randomly or trigger him by your cursesystem. You can also observe more or lesser players depending on your server ressources.
For example you can
Count : All Actions from the player in one live
Count : Player kills PlayerThis two basic counts give a first view of the player. Is he killing a lot of other players? Is he clicking like a workoholic or more chilling like a griefer. Of course you have also new and afk players, who produce less clickactions.
Next you could filter for productive action and non productive action. If a player pick up and drop the same item one hour this is of course non productive.
and so on ... (this is only the first step of an automated rating system)
Another way is to track the whole game of a player in punishzone, like you do on client site and show it to some players, who play the role of a court.
There are lots of steps to think, but first step is to choose a player and track or count him on serversite. Then you need to decide guilty or not guilty (automated or half automated). Finaly you need to do the punishment.
"The gods have observed you. They have decided : You are guilty. Next life you are cursed to live the life as a stone."
So you are proposing an outside game court? People that use their own time outside the game to review other peoples action in-game and decide if they are guilty of foul play and need a punishment in-game?
Seriously? Hit it with a long shaft and you become a griefer.
Don´t raise pitbulls unless you are ready to become cursed.
I love Nomad runs. I usually start as a girl running at eight or so. But they are most enjoyable with company along the way.
Can confirm full town dead to this glitch.
They kill you instantly because there is no gain whatsoever in having you around.
Here we go again, :sigh.... after the best update since carrot stack we go back to normal, 24 lifes is pretty much infinite. Insta dislike to this, life was actually startitng to feel precious.
Starknight_One wrote:If this idea is implemented, we need to be able to kill all dogs. Otherwise it'll just become another griefing tool.
A creature that can do less things overall than a human can't really grief worse IMO
You realize most griefers do fall into that category right?
It´s called reclamation. But the pen shoud also be gone, thats interesting.

A little off topic but I honestly really dislike this saying. Because it's anti innovative as possible. Otherwise we would still write with type writers, because they weren't broke.
PS: The only place where I agree to this, don't mess around with a system that is going to be phased out in mid-future anyway.
I was making a resume of Jason´s post. I understand what you are going with anti innovative, but innovation always goes with some risk involved. In this case It seems the risk is just too high compared to benefits.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
wait wait wait! people still go OUTSIDE!
isn't it like dangerous!
some questions about the outside world:
how many turkeys have you seen
how many wild boars
and have you seen bear caves!
also do people still eat..... corn?
Turkeys are kinda funny
