As some might get funny ideas here - I agree with pein that property fences needs to be destroyable in some way. Not too easy a way since it would be undermined - but some way.
Edit: think pein mentioned the property fence issue in another thread
i mean you got 7 biome types
seems to be equal proprtion, just a bit of random on the positionsbut in average case it's equal
that means only 4 out of 7 bioems are liveable cause of temperature
only 4/7 have sprigns on ithttps://i.imgur.com/2loRxnQ.png
wondible made this picture
just take a look, grey is the swamp, i only see 5 decent green biomes
and only one with swamp near itnow it's decent to boom in a swamp then move, or try out other types
but any type f griefing is bad long term, i mean i don't even plan to play real cause it will just frustrate me
fences are broken
he modelled after rust twigs, which is just a frame in rust, but there they are easily broken
if it would be slow to get trough but upgradeable then people would need to take care of it, and that would make it betteri remember i spent 2 hours in a fenced town and even tho it was only one exit, people fixed every wall so you had to go around all the time
That's disgusting! Feeling like sitting this update out already
Yeah, Pein made it pretty clear on that picture. It is not about the number of tiles per player but the actual playability of each biomass. There is no chance of starting a town outside grassland/swamp because we need rope/branches/clay/adobe/water to even start the most basic food farming. Wich end up virtually killing badlands as a liveable place until you have shovel and some stuff. Prairie is doable but then again, with only rabbits around i´d say prairie is 50% liveable place. So we get 2/7 of the map at best.
A 500*500 map would feel more like a 3rd person PUBG micro island than a parenting and civilization game.
Goodbye exploration and free rope and food from the wild.
Goodbye reclamation (wild regeneration). A 500x500 map would mean 25 100X100 sectors, pretty sure no place would stay 8 hours unvisited.
Goodbye moving out to start a new camp.
Goodbye Eve running.
I don´t know where did you guys get the 500 square map thing but seems unplayable to me.
Question: Wich character of OHOL do you identify the most with:
a) Griefer
b) Roleplayer
c) Berrie muncher
d) Efficiency player
e) Troll
f) Oher
I love this idea. But as presented is ready to fail, must be presented as a problem and not as a suggestion.
Problem: there are too many bone piles around town and too many graves.

a) Stand over an object. Bears can´t attack you if you are standing over an object.
b) Make bow and arrows. Kill bear. (Kill griefer but curse him first)I think our problem was new players who didn't know the emergency bear contingency plan lol. I sprinted out of town to make arrows, and by the time I got back it was just carnage.
Yeah thats usually what happens. The brightest ones hide in the berry farm while everyone else just run around the bear.
Yeah 500 square tiles sound ridiculous for 100 players. Even 2000 seems limited to me but who knows...
I don´t get the whole "stop the apocalypse" thing. It´s part of the game and It doesn´t hurt anyone that bad.
I am not as kind as Morti to make a full post on how to. I´ll just say I´ve never, ever gone more than 300 tiles away radious to find rope, even in the most advanced town. And I´m not talking about 1 rope but at least a full cart.
Also as Rodney pointed out, you are suposed to take the one thing that speeds up everything while gearing up: a needle.
I understand your problem is farming, but sometimes having all the stuff needed to make a big farm (pen for compost, enough bowls, plates, croks, iron for tools) is priority.
And gatherer/hunter is by far the most important role in a town. Most of the stuff has to be brought from the wild afterall.
My poor family, there was almost no iron close range
did my best but I´m kinda rusty on Eve runs. Had a wonderful girl Lily who left me a msg :"Mom town is weird. I tried. I am lan" I loled hard.
I just love the idea of self sustainable places. I tried making something similar in server 5, with the idea of minimal space. Almost the same setup, a square with the four principal areas of a town. Forge and kitchen north, pen and farm south. I believe it can be done a little smaller if you keep the infamous berry farm smaller (using berry only for compost/sheep and not to eat 2x3 is more than enough). Pen can also be smaller. Oven is a must to make pies though. It can be upgraded in time to stone walls from the outside if the area is small.
What I like about your setup is the use of graves as doors, they are like upgraded version of property gates.
I actually miss the times when a proper duel could solve in game "differences".
Duels were fun, unharmful to others and fair. They kinda helped with town toxicity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Congrats everyone, maybe someday I can be a part of it.
Not gonna argue against your complain, it´s a dick move. However, bear countermesures are pretty easy:

Just to add to what Morti said, it´s really easy to gear up while you are gathering outside. Reed skirt is amazing early on if you can find enough rope, sealskin is amazing even if not sewed and wheat hats are also amazing. When I get into early camps that have few things around (like one 3x3 berry farm and some carrots and fire) I just pick up a needle and move ouside town to gather rope and gear up. You don´t even need snares, you can make them on the way, hunt rabbits, make a backback and come back with the rabbits. Maybe just forget about the bp and go straight to hunt for iron if there is no iron in town. Farming is not always a priority.
For me farming is ok, it´s just tedious because the useful crops are limited: berry, carrot, corn, beans, squach, wheat.
Milkweed is useful but getting it from the wild is a lot better than using resources and having to wait for it to grow. I mean its 8 bowls of soil and 4 water to make a single rope.
As The_Anabaptist said, carts are the best option when looking for soil and moving stuff inside the town.
If your village doesn´t have carts you should definitively focus on those before improving your farm (Assuming the first crops of berries and carrots are ready). Carts are pretty much the next tech after iron tools, so they should not be far away unless you are in a very early Eve camp.
In the end genetic fitness is purely random, at most you can try to help your town but for me it makes no difference.
Really though guys we need to stop feeding this troll
His posts follow a patternRoads

And finally bearsEveryone else minding their own business are basically idiots to him while he hoards flat stones and chisels building 2k roads for Jason knows what reasons. God forbid if you happen to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Because bears.
I do admit it's hard to ignore this level of sheer moronism, it's like a train wreck you can't look away
I tried to stop repying his threads but some part of me says "hey if he needs feeding he must be lonely". So I try to just post some nonsense to throw him a bone here and there. *Sigh...* I have become such a softie these days.
This is normal, there are several people that don´t like Eve camps or new towns. Letting them know the conditions makes it easier for everyone. I don´t normally do as a mother but now I´ll start implementing it due to the added bonus.

This doesn't justify killing people!! Just tell that person no, there's no reason in ending that person life. What are these morals, killing someone just because they are asking an obnoxious question.
Calm your tits. I don't kill people asking for bags. But I certainly would feel very concerned. Also, there's a group of toxic players who will remember you not giving them a bag and will say you don't love them. At that point I would just be glad they don't decide to murder me as I am working in the farm. Yes , asses like that exists
It all comes down to Rodneys point, I´m not saying I love to stab babies or that I kill a baby as soon as he starts poking clothing/bp. I´m saying there is enough evidence to justify killing strongly obnoxious babies, because they end up being troublemakers. I have enough experience with demanding babies to understand that:
a) Good players don´t poke stuff in a demanding way
b) Decent players may poke stuff once or twice and not again if said no
c) Persistent and demanding players are not an asset even if given the stuff they want and worst they end up backstabbing you and the town.
So yes, based in my experience there is justification for killing babies in this game.

THAT IS NOT CONFLICT.Conflict has a cause and a resolution. Conflict has two or more conflicing parties with interests in play (they all have something to win/lose). Warswords don´t promote conflict between villages (or any kind of war for the matter), they enable outside coordinated groups to slaughter other players like sheep for their own sadism. With no defence or punishment. They don´t care for their own family after that, they may even come back in the town they just raided to kill the previous one.
Stop the facade of the mutual trust thing. (Raiders don´t want to interact but to kill)

bUt DRAMA!!!11!!
I had a really nice little private fishing area set up with my three children in the Tang village and apparently some nameless twins (surprise surprise) of an Eve they welcomed into the village killed them because they accidentally left the gate open. :^) I even tried to do the correct thing and arm my children AND give them fences so they would be safe and guess what?
All three dead when I looked later to see how my fishmonger branch of the Tangs was doing. I've defended myself once successfully against an attack in the new pvp shit and you know what I had to do? Literally run away until they nearly starved to death so I could counterattack. Wowie, much conflict, great resolution. Forced to run around in circles for three minutes because we were both properly dressed while the only thing I could do is run and eat while she tried to catch up.
I don't think I've ever been in an "interesting" situation with swords once except where me and Morti tried to destroy ours. You can LITERALLY do everything right (fences, weapons, food) and still get have everyone get killed because swords are a dumb OP weapon that Jason can't live without. I'm not sure what the fuck you're supposed to do against raiders besides hope they get bored of the game.
Pretty sure I got hit with a sword from a distance (idk if it was lag or something). Same scenario, defence by running away as fast as I could then stopped by a berry tree to eat. Bang, guy hits me from at least 3 tiles away diagonally (I was hoping for him die of old age or have less life bars after a while).

Still withing the fires radius thus getting it's passive heat bonus in that picture
Wearing some of the warmest clothes in game minus the hat.So I doubt in the last patch for buffing buildings did anything to fix that but I can always double check when I get a second.
What I did not get a screenshot of or mention yet, is that I removed all my clothing and walked through the walls.
I was most certainly warmer on the inside of them than I was on the outside, but I am not certain if that is because I was only within the radius of the fire itself, if the floor and walls just gave me a bonus, or if, as I suspect, the walls did may the space inside act as a room and I gained that additional bonus.
I wanted the room to be larger, but I wanted it fully floored and the snow banks and ice holes, made me realize a little too late that I hadn't planned properly. But it was my first attempt last night, and from experience alone, I think it was a success. Can confirm now that I've checked that it's just you in the radius of the fire which is what is giving you the extra temperature. I should of just assumed that when seeing the spacing between walls but the last time he updated buildings was during a time of hiatus for me.
If you want doorless buildings you have to make a little tetris Z shaped hallway to make sure temperature grid is blocked properly so there isn't a heat leak.
I don´t understand about the tetris Z shaped hallway. Could you please be more specific? It is Z shaped inside? Are you still using corner walls? I am interested in doorless buildings.
It is not interesting to get stabbed for no reason in a raid with literally zero chance to defend or retaliate.

This thread is telling me that people make a lot of assumptions about other players that can't do anything or express themselves in any meaningful way. Seems like the consensus here is that murdering babies is fine and you don't really need a reason to do it. Just because you don't like them. There's really no way to know if a baby is good or bad.
If you think they're suspicious you can always watch them and tell them off, that's what moms do. The idea of abandoning or even killing your own kid because you think they might be a troublemaker just doesn't seem right in a game about family.
Dude if someone asks me B-A-G as soon as they are in the game they are expressing themselves. If the same person then proceeds to type "giv-me-bag" when there is only one in sight (the one im wearing), hes going to get stabbed. Same with people poking clothing or bags around, just don´t be entitled people, you are not entitled to anything just becuase it is on screen. Most of the times it is ok to stab a baby like that for the simple reason that they mean trouble. It is not that I don´t like them (thou I hate entitled teens in general) it is they are bad for the town in the long run. There is a good indicator (I had several bad experiences actually being overly generous) on bad babies => bad players.
The real problem behind all this is: any decent player, naked at 4 can gear up in 10 minutes tops. I can guarantee theres 0% chance of a half decent player asking for bp or clothing. There is simple no need to start poking stuff that is not yours to begin with. You get pants? thats nice, you get a seal shirt? cool! They gave you a BP? awesome. Mom gave you nothing... thats ok thank you anyways!

There would simply be no serial griefers, for the same reason. Someone could mass steal stuff/ mass murder then what? You come back to the same people? Not happening lel. Even worst, most info would be public on discord, nobody would raise you as a known griefer. That´s why it´s not going to happen, this game depends on griefers to "make it interesting".
Pretty much this. Jason loves his DRAMA and if you aren't living a life with DRAMA you wouldn't enjoy the game very much by his standards. It would essentially just end up like the discord where someone keeps a list of all the known trolls and passes it around whenever someone wants to know who is a bad egg thus making it much harder for that person to play.
In my secret dreams I´ve thought that maybe he could set up one of the small servers to play under a username just to "experiment".
It would be so damn interesting to see how the game actually plays out without griefers going around.
I believe it´s ok to stab a baby. Had multiple times triplets and twins that you just know are going to grief.
Also several annoying people asking for bags or clothing.
There are so many good reasons to stab babies, but mainly because people would always feed them, even if explained why the baby is not fine in first place.
Well that way we would at least be able to identify serial griefers and leave them to starve.
Or even better a stab, to lineage ban the bastards.

Not going to happen anyways, but it would be awesome.
