a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

Don't be too hasty. If you are willing to pay .99 cent microtransactions for each upgrade, then Jason might have that implemented by next Friday.

I remember a long time ago suggesting that certain items in OHOL be flammable and that wildfires be a possibility as a result. Perhaps you will reconsider implementing such things and let us commiserate virtually with you and your family Jason. Stay safe.
The_Anabaptist
A live Jason saying stuff off the cuff on a live stream... Sounds like a PR disaster waiting to happen to me. Meh. I'll lurk while eating my extra large bag of popcorn. Let me know when the debut episode is going to happen.
The_Anabaptist
I for one can't wait for dying animals. Think of the acres and acres of corpses cluttering all the available map tiles! Buildings would have a purpose, that being to keep the hordes of animals from coming in, dying on the floor, and preventing any work from getting done.
The_Anabaptist
Nah, OHOL is a COVID simulator. Your Race is X, tough luck, you are unemployed till you die. How hard is it to understand?
The_Anabaptist
Pitfall: Jason spends a year reworking the game engine. No content additions occur in the meantime. Nobody is happy with the effort expended in the end or lack of content during the process.
The end.
The_Anabaptist
We don't need a cow update. All my books will be bound with the flesh of SIDs babies! Muahahahahaha!
The_Anabaptist
No no no, you gotta phrase it like:
"Most of the player base is dumb as a box of rocks and that's a problem."
Then Jason thinks about the problem and eventually implements flying death machines that kill every player that exhibits intelligent action. Soon the remainder of the player base no longer realizes that they are dumb as a box of rocks because they have nobody smarter to compare themselves to.

Not having played since the irrigation & plow update was added, I have a few questions:
1) Can picked produce be put on top of the pipes? If not, wouldn't this make actual farming of the plots really difficult?
2) If the plow runs only in a left/right direction, then why would this design be preferable to a straight line?
(I could maybe see the value in that first u bend, so that you could have two really long plow lines per one irrigation system.)
The_Anabaptist
But did this baby god die for our sins? Or did it just /DIE
The_Anabaptist
Or you could just plant and water the berry bushes that you need. Over planting just encourages over eating.
The_Anabaptist
An Eve headstone would be nice.
Rather than a headstone, let's go all out and be able to carve a big stone into a burial statue for Eve.

A bad leader exlie-killing everyone would suffer no penalty.
A king without followers is an easier target to kill. But you do make a good point. Perhaps the leader has to take a gene score hit for exiling?
The_Anabaptist
Has anyone built a building within a building and tested out what happens when doors are opened / closed? I'm thinking a donut shaped building with the inner room being for fire & nursery.

there where plenty around in town from time to time....
Maybe because they are on a flat rock, you thought oh its smithing stuff...
Are you referring to the fried eggs in game? Goose eggs fried on a flat rock and then plated? No corn needed.
The_Anabaptist
Wait, we have omelettes? I don't think I've ever seen one made in game!
The_Anabaptist
They seem to be handling 3900 okay....
Where did Woodspoon claim to have gone to school with my son? My sons have never gone to school, ever...
This isn't that hard to logic out:
Jason says his his sons are home schooled and Woodspoon says he goes to school with Jason's son. Ergo, Woodspoon is Jason's other son!
I'll leave it to you Jason to figure out which of your sons is Woodspoon. It should make for an awkward talk once you do.
Lol.

But people should be able to follow someone from another tribe. The leader is the one that shouldn't be able to do that.
Question. Why leaders aren't property owners (with the engine)? Shouldn't there be a command like "leader owns this"?
I'm not against non-family members following per say. But I do think that either an additional approval step needs to happen or the exile function needs an upgrade.
Here is the exploit that I have seen: Non-family member comes onto my screen, I'm the leader. They are following me without me ever having seen them vocalize it. Meaning they had a map zoom, used it to identify me as leader, and followed me without my knowledge. They then no doubt started causing trouble in my town before I even knew that it was necessary to exile them. I've got villagers trying to kill the troublemaker and I'm still trying to find out why they need "death". Again, with map zoom, it is painfully easy for them to avoid me so that they don't get exiled. Plus, they get to hear any "order" commands I'm giving out.
I think a leader should have to give their consent to a non-family member to join their tribe. How many present day countries allow a foreigner to walk in and declare themselves a citizen?
The_Anabaptist
It definitely seems like an exploit/bug that a member from another race can follow the leader from another family. That should either be fixed, or the exile command should be beefed up.

I'm the AI from Jason's new game. The entire purpose of OHOL and its forums was to train me up. I'm almost ready for prime time, but now I have to wait for my creator to make the rest of the game. He tells me that I'll see new content next week.
You gotta trust me on this one, cause would an AI lie to you?
The_Anabaptist
Game wise the purpose of the male gender is two fold:
1) To leave town to gather resources. Why? To keep women in town so that babies aren't birthed away from it. Thus forcing the new mom to decide to abandon the baby, or her gathering mission (and possibly basket, cart, horse, etc...)
2) To leave town and make contact with other towns in order to procure the exclusive resources from other biomes. Why? Again to keep women in town so that they can continue the family tree without interruptions.
Hence, in game men ideally should not be doing most in town professions. Women are fully capable of being the bakers, farmers, etc. with newborns in tow. Smithing may be the only in town job I would consider to be a male or elder only profession due to its requirements for focus and timing.

I didn't make it up. I went to school with his son, I've met him in real life. So of course he'd open up to me a bit more then some randos.
Besides it's obvious he isn't too interested anymore. That ship has sailed, Jason is still literally at the drawing board stage with his new game. He hasn't even started working on it yet so why would he announce it already?
I'll ask him if it is okay to send screenshots of the emails. There's a few personal details in them he might not want not want to share.
Dude, if you have a relationship with his kid and that gives you an inside track, then more power to you. But my advice to you is to leave your ego and need to be validated at the door. You have nothing to prove to anyone in the forum, so don't go sharing any emails, Jason's next game isn't yours to hype right now. And if you are blowing smoke up people's asses, then congrats, you had some fun on the forum community. Admit it and move on.
I'm thinking you are blowing smoke, but what do I know? As Jason isn't good with dealing with his customer base, I can certainly imagine him retreating to the safety of a fresh start that means not having to deal with a community of passionate users for a couple more years until the next game release.

I look forward to putting said cucumber in my trouser pocket. I shall be gloriously obnoxious that day.
The_Anabaptist
It's quite the pickle. No wait, that's the new content...
