a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

Maybe the fact that it's in by default and needs a mod installed from a separate download that is hard to find is an issue. It would be more work, but having it as an in game option and disabled by default would be more palatable to sensitive players.
Jason has identified the bottleneck.
Jason did mention the possibility of a server wipe to make it playable again, at least on the laggy ones. Having said that, he did conduct a test with some people and gathered some data which will hopefully help identify the bottlenecks.
I disagree. Almost everything you do in the game is permanent. It's not about holding on to what you achieve in a lifetime, it's about the entire player base, all of humanity, moving forward collectively.
Yes, clothing should be priority number one.
1. Clothing is permanent, so crafting it helps society as a whole.
2. Clothing preserves food.
3. Trapping rabbits provides food, so you are not sacrificing food over clothing.
Jason has informed us that if the custom server setting is active, then you will not download the update, even if you are connecting to one of the official servers. You will need to deactivated this setting temporarily and connect to get the update, then reenable it.
If you are seeing weird stuff like berries turning into mouflon's, this is probably the reason why.
You're asking the creator of the game to sell his game to you cheaper because of currency exchange rates? How is that fair for him?
If there is an overpopulation problem where I am, I tell my kids to take a basket of food and head off on their own. They usually do.
Yeah, it's abstracted somewhat. If it was to scale, you'd have to eat 18 times a second.
Will do.
Oh, right, basket in cart.
Your first suggestion is already in game.
The whole point of spawning as an Eve is that there isn't a suitable mother to be spawned to. Spawning as an adult male doesn't solve that problem.
What's the problem with just letting the males do work?
Two users just now have tried multiple payment methods and using three different cards, all with plenty of credit on them.
We are getting people joining the discord chat and saying that they have tried multiple methods of payment and they are not working.
This one might be a reasonably valuable one to look into, Jason.
Ostensibly the floor is for warmth, but it's being used in this case as a road, so it's just a path used to connect major settlements.
When you've hit the tech ceiling and run out of things to make, you need some grand task to keep yourself busy. Some people have taken up the task of building these roads.
Soil is renewable though, with compost, so it's not a total loss. It's more of an incovenience, especially on server 2 where there are whole swathes of land with no milkweed. You need to journey a long way to find seeds and return them.
The milkweed shortage is the worst problem that we have, so in general, it's not so bad. We just need to learn as a species how to look after the land, and we are doing that.
Actually what's worse than killing milkweed is overtrapping rabbits. They never come back.
It literally has a name when you mouse over it. It says "FRUITING MILKWEED". That's how we know what it's called. It's not that hard to learn the difference and you only need to learn it once. The young stage has only leaves, the flowering stage is the only animated one (it has a butterfly) and the fruiting stage has big bulbs on it.
You forget that if your scheme works, and everyone is born in the same place, then the troll is born there too.
I think some people already are saying 'Q' to indicate that they are not newbies.
The stump fades.
So I had a chat with Jason on the discord serve about this and he agrees it's not quite right. It's not a bug, but the design needs rethinking.
I don't think there is any other way around it other than timed updates. Problem there is that it puts more demand on the server. I think if the server updates each player's temperature based on the tile they're on, every x milliseconds where x is the amount of time it takes to walk one tile. I think it's about half a second to walk a tile. So 60 temperature calculations every half second. Maybe each player could have a slight offset so they're not all at once.
It regrows if you pick it when it is fruiting.
-1 means "one epoch" or 60 minutes.
