After watching the Let's Play, I really want to see someone with absolutely no knowledge of the game skip the tutorial, avoid the tech tree, the "/" command, and play relying only on other players directions to see how well they can learn the game.

Maybe I'll pay someone to play it for 2 hours a day for a whole week and record it...

That's how I started back when it first released, and I assume most people were the same. I learned everything by my parents teaching me, and enjoyed it so much that to this day, with every new update, I don't go on wikis and rely on being taught or figuring out myself.

Can you let the calf grow and butcher it for meat? Seems like easy additional food as well as variety.

Playing as the games evolves and gets updated is part of the fun. It's also gonna make you want to come back for at least an hour or two a week, so that's a lot of hours over time. The game is difficult to get into, but if you accept that you can't learn everything right away, you'll be fine. As long as you know th basic controls, people will show you how to farm. Maybe in another life you can be a baker apprentice.

Do keep in mind that those who are ranting about the game being unbalanced and bugged and everything, are people who are playing hours and hours. It's actually a sign that they care a lot about it.

It would be great to have crops with varying growing speed, so an increase in population would need to plant some fast crops while the slower one grow.

Or low calorie crops but that can be cooked into very nutritious meals with advanced tech, like making sausages for example.

I was born into the An family. Sadly, even though my grand-mother bore the name, I was a bastard with no names. Sadly, the family got reduced to three men. I fear the An family might have died with Andrew An. Hopefully, another branch survived elsewhere.

Water carrying should never done by children. It's the most common mistake, people ask kids to do that because they don't want themselves. But children must stay near food sources, they can't afford to travel long distance.

I think the best way is to have a cistern with adults replenishing it, and then kids can take care of watering the crops and harvesting.
